This charming home is a short walk from Surfside Beach. It has three spacious bedrooms with large closets. The master bedroom is on the first floor with a queen-size bed and a full bath. Upstairs are two large bedrooms with a full bath. One of the bedrooms has a trundle bed in addition to two twin beds. The cozy living room has a cathedral ceiling and opens into a sunny dining area. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped. French doors open to a large, private, sunny deck with teak furniture, an outdoor shower, and a gas grill. There is also a mudroom with a separate entrance, on the first floor with a washer/dryer and a half bath. The house is easily accessible via the bike path, the NRTA shuttle bus, or car.
First, it was scrupulously clean. Next, it is quietly private. The front and back yards are surrounded by tall bushes and trees; you can see the owners' house next door if you try to. Even with this seclusion, you are only some 50 yards from Surfside Road and an easy bike ride to Surfside Beach.
We liked the cool September nights for sleeping - with the Master Bath having its own heat zone for the morning shower. The house does look like the pictures, and the rear deck faces south for shoulder season warmth (weather co-operating).
My wife and I came for the week before a wedding; our son and his wife came, laptops in hand, to work at their jobs during the day and join us at 5 o'clock.
Everything we needed was there. Our hosts were friendly and most accommodating.
The only thing that will disappoint you is, that when you leave, you'll wish it were YOUR house and that you could return whenever you'd like. Well, you never know - talk to Jim!
We just returned from a delightful week in Nantucket. Admittedly, perfect weather set the stage for our enjoyable stay, but accommodations that met our needs and expectations certainly played an important role. With 3 people in our party, we enjoyed spreading out, agreeing that there was easily room for an additional 3 or 4 people.
This house is in a perfect location. (a quieter part of the island but with access to everything.) It was well equipped, clean, and comfortable for a fair price by Nantucket rental standards... and the landlord is a very nice person. My husband's favorite feature was the outdoor shower, mine was the well equipped kitchen. Beds were comfortable and provided linens were very good including the bedding, towels and beach towels!
The house sits just off the bike path to Surfside, and the beach is a 10 minute walk or 3 minute bike ride. We did not bring a car to Nantucket, so location is important. Shuttle stops on the Surfside line(Daytime only) stop less than 5 minutes away and the Miacomet Loop shuttle stop is an easy 10 minute walk day and till 11:20 at night. Stop and Shop was an easy bike ride and we enjoyed biking to beaches at Surfside, Miacomet, and Cisco. With a little map sense, we found our way to Siasconset, Bartlett Farms(which we love) and Cisco Brewery as well as East Coast Seafood. Using bike baskets and backpacks we were able to carry all the groceries the 3 of us needed! On a few occasions we used taxi's and with a call ahead, there was no problem getting one.
We will definitely come back to this house a 2B Gladlands Ave. and we would recommend it to others without reservation. Adults who like to bike do not need a car to stay here, but if you are a family with small children, you would probably enjoy having a car.
This house is absolutely wonderful! We were there with our 3 young children (ages 3 yrs to 3 mos) and the house was perfectly suited for us. Although it's right on the corner of Surfside, you would never know. It is well 'disguised' and plenty of yard space for the kids to run around safely. The rooms are incredibly spacious (2 families with a couple of children each could easily vacation together in this house) and all of the amenities you need. We hosted a lobster dinner for a group of 17 people and there was plenty of room for everyone thanks to the very large deck directly off the kitchen. It is conveniently located, walking distance to the beach (we walked every day) and an easy drive to groceries and downtown. We highly recommend this house and the owners are very gracious and always available if you need them. Should our travels take us back to Nantucket this is the only house we will consider.
Walk the beach, go bicycling or swimming, enjoy one of the nearby beaches, hop on the NRTA shuttle bus for some shopping in town, enjoy sunsets at Surfside Beach on of the nicest beaches on Nantucket
