About Sylvia Russianoff
My mother bought this home which was originally an artist's studio in the early 1950's . Over the years she added two bedroom wings and a second bathroom. I have been coming here since I was a young child and now it is owned by my family since my mother died in 2000. When I inherited it I did a major renovation but tried to keep the original feel of the home. It is truly a magical setting filled with the incredible Truro light that has attracted artists to Truro for years.
Why Sylvia Russianoff chose Truro
An airy light filled home with all of the modern conveniences yet retains the old time Cape Cod beach house feel. There is incredible privacy as you are surrounded by 8 acres as well as National Seashore property. Fisher Beach is a short lovely walk from our property. It truly is a magical setting that is difficult to capture in photographs. You must experience it for yourself to understand!

This is an ideal location within a short drive or bike ride from New England's most beautiful beaches. The house is extraordinarily well equipped, and the owner thoughtful and attentive. My stay exemplified what we all hope a vacation should look like. I cannot recommend the house, the owner and the location highly enough.
Thank younJoe for taking the time to write a review. I am so glad that you had a wonderful vacation! We look forward to having you back again next summer!
We have spent a week at this house for several consecutive summers and find it a consistently pleasant destination. The setting is peaceful and affords views of the Pamet River and the Atlantic coastline. One can access a nearby bayside beach just minutes from the house, and trips to Truro Center and Wellfleet are accessible by bike, should one wish to add in some exercise. The rolling hills make for excellent biking.
The house has an open feel as the kitchen and living room are wide open. There are two private bedrooms and one in a loft that overlooks the living room.
Sylvia has always been pleasant and accommodating; over the years, there has been the occasional snafu, of course, but she maintains a solid support crew in the area, so things are rectified quickly.
The interior decor has the authentic feel of a longtime Truro retreat, but is appointed with an updated kitchen that is a pleasure to use.
I recommend this property, especially to those who desire a pastoral, quiet setting. The house and setting are charming and the house is well maintained.
Nice location but disappointing for the price
This house is on a very nice piece of property, as the pictures indicate. It is also large enough to comfortably sleep 6. However, there are many deficiencies for a rental at this price point. The only queen bed is in a loft that is wide open to the living room and also contains a twin, so there is no privacy. The nicest room only has a double bed in it, which is not comfortable for two adults. The loft is not safe for children or older adults as the stairs are very narrow and steep and there is nothing to prevent a small child from falling down from an opening at the top of the stairs. One bathroom is very old with a stall shower with a non-working light. The second bathroom is half renovated. The refrigerator did not have an ice-maker. The coffee maker is very old. The dry feature on the dishwasher did not work. Almost every dish is chipped or cracked. Some of the furniture in the living room is literally falling apart, including the coffee table and one sofa. The interior of the house needs to be repainted. The piano is out of tune. Although the area off the back has the lovely view, it was very difficult to use, as the in-ground sprinklers doused them every morning, so the cushions were soaking almost the whole week that we were there. The linens are quite old and most of the towels are stained. Also, be careful to read the fine print. The owner expects the renters to clean the house themselves (return to condition found in), including washing and drying all the linens and folding them. Check out is at 10 am, so this is extremely challenging. At this price point, it is usual to have a professional cleaning service clean the bathrooms and kitchen and much more hygienic than relying on the prior guests to do so. We asked the owner if we could pay for cleaners and she said she could not arrange it. Since we needed to leave early on the last day, she did arrange for a laundry service to do the wash and we paid by the pound for it. But again, we have rented many times and have never been in a similar situation of having to make special arrangements for laundry.
Hi Robert. I am sorry that your stay at our home did not fully meet your expectations. When renovating our home we endeavored to retain the old beach house feel, which we and many of our previous tenants have liked, but may not be to everyone’s taste.
We appreciate your detailed feedback, and will certainly take it into account in prioritizing the updates and repairs that we make each year to our home. We continually work to ensure that the house is well-maintained, inviting, and equipped with everything needed for our tenants’ vacations.
To address some of your specific concerns, the sprinkler system was new this season and we were unaware that it was soaking the furniture cushions. We will make sure that is remedied in the future.
Also, we understand that it can sometimes be hard to get laundry done and the house cleaned by check out time. We regret that our expectations for cleaning were not clearly communicated in the lease. We will make sure to clearly outline expectations in our lease in the future.
We do have cleaners that come in between each tenant and thoroughly clean it. We only expect tenants to do a minimal amount so that the cleaners have enough time to do the extra polishing needed during the changeover window.
Thanks again for your feedback.
Loved every minute......air, trees and water!
A perfect week in Truro
Just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful vacation in your home. What a special place. It was so relaxing and the view was unbelievable. It was so hard to leave. Thank you for always getting back to me when I had a question. My husband and I would definitely be interested in renting the house again. Our boys loved exploring the property. It was the best trip we've had to the Cape so far. Thank you again for everything, Truro is our favorite place on the Cape.
Thank you so much for your review. We really appreciate it and look forward to hearing from you next time you plan a return to Truro!!
We were so charmed by this house - the view, the serenity and the peacefulness. You have done a marvelous job of making it so comfortable and well stocked without feeling stuffy. It gave me the feeling of the "real" Cape Cod that keeps me coming back every year. It's a very special place and I hope to return. Thank you for sharing this little slice of heaven!

Walk to Fisher Beach and short drive to other beautiful bay and ocean beaches, secluded ponds, biking and hiking trails and Wellfleet and Provincetown restaurants, shops and theaters. Kayak in the Pamet River or dock your boat in the Pamet Harbor in walking distance from our home. Truro is one of the last towns on Cape Cod that retains its rural feel. Golf: Highland Links Golf Course in North Truro. A beautiful seaside course just a few miles away.
