Attractive Truro 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath hilltop upside-down style contemporary home with a large, open, bright and airy floor plan. Home is on an extremely quiet, forested, dead end street on the ocean side of Route 6 and borders directly on the Cape Cod National Seashore property. The main floor offers cathedral ceiling with beams & electrically operated skylights, expansive large windows and Anderson sliders that open to 40’ wrap-around mahogany deck overlooking the peace and tranquility of the wooded valley to Long Nook Beach. Just a short drive to both Bay (Corn Hill, Great Hollow) and Ocean Beaches (Long Nook, Coast Guard, Ballston) and minutes from Pamet Harbor. At night the beacon from the Highland Light can be seen flashing along with spectacular sky star gazing from the rear deck. Catch the warm morning sun while enjoying your favorite beverage and reading material on the front mahogany deck.

Well-appointed and thoughtfully furnished for comfort and relaxation, Sleeps 6; full kitchen; gas grill; enclosed oversized cedar outside shower; washer/dryer; cable TV/VCR/DVD; wireless internet and Flat screen TV’s in Living Room, Master Bedroom and Guest Bedroom.

Our Property abuts the National Seashore property, a wonderful protected Federal park which comprises most of Truro and beyond in all directions. Over 4,300 acres, it has miles and miles of hiking trails, fire roads and spectacular sand dunes with elevations to 90 feet overlooking pristine beaches, some accessible only via trail. Walk down the back of the property and follow Higgins Hollow Road to the Fire road which opens up miles and miles of breathtaking Cape forest and sand dune ocean side trails (see photo’s). Short bike or hike to Long Nook Beach (1.5m) or obtain a weekly town beach permit and drive the short distance to each beach. Grab a beach fire permit from the Truro Fire Department and enjoy a romantic evening beach fire (beach firewood available behind the house).

Where else but Truro would you find just down the road a Seafood Market, a Farmers Market, Liquor store, pizza/bakery/coffee shop with homemade ice cream, a Gourmet Chocolatier, a Spice shop, Local tavern featuring local produce and seafood, a nationally renowned potterer, a stationer and several amazing restaurants one that makes homemade pasta and authentic Italian pizza. Head up to the nearby Vineyard for lunch, wine/rum tastings or take a drive to Castle Hill Center for the Arts, The Highland Light or the ghost feel of the abandoned old Truro Air Force Base - all within 10 minutes or less, of our home.

Fabulous home for our Chicks Getaway

We have stayed here several times. A group of family and friends take a long weekend getaway and leave children and troubles behind. This is a wonderful house to do this in. The kitchen is large enough for several cooks and helpers work in the kitchen. The dining room has a great table that fits all of us to play cards, games or just talk and catch up. The living room is cozy and the bedrooms perfect for us. There are usually 6-8 of us with the younger chicks bringing sleeping bags. We love going to P-town, Hyannis and other delightful places. BTW, several of the chicks are neat freaks and have NEVER had a problem with cleanliness. We love it and can't wait to go back again.

Superhome,Evrythng y/need,near where you wanna be

We had the pleasure of staying in this home in late September 09.

Our first night in, the sky was perfectly clear, you could see the light from Highland Light rotating from the north. We felt miles away from everything, yet all we needed was there. Short drive to almost all the things we wanted to do.

The house is beautiful and well equipted. Very relaxed atmosphere helped us enjoy our down time while vacationing. Dream Kitchen and dining was a joy.

We hope to come back another year. Thank you!

Great location with potential

Great floor plan in a newer construction (open, spacious, lots of natural light). One wall in the common area is almost all windows! In a very private location on a dead end street. Lots of white walls and light woods which gave it a clean, open feel. The deck was spacious and furnished. Unfortunately, there were a number of carpenter ants and daddy long leg spiders. Also the deck would have been much more enjoyable had close growing trees been pruned to reveal the long distance view. The house is oriented in the right direction so that the sunset is viewable, but not with those close growing trees blocking the way. The kitchen also needs a detailed cleaning - there is a stickiness on the cabinets that you feel every time you open a door (no handle design), the floors look clean until you walk on them and feel your feet stick to them and the oven was really dirty. Also, the wireless internet was not working properly - definitely a bummer. Lastly, the DVD player was not working properly - it would work for a while, but then freeze and/or jump back a couple of scenes. We thought it might have been the DVD itself, but it played fine on the portable player we had brought for the car ride up to the Cape. The TV in one of the bedrooms was a nice plus, but it only had a VCR player attached to it which seemed a bit dated tech wise. Overall I would still recommend this property as is, but would really rave about it if the above mentionned problems were corrected.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of our home - both great points and some to be addressed. The option to write reviews offers Homeaway viewers the opportunity to hear from guests - an important element when making a vacation property decision. We are eager to address issues raised by guests, and this is no exception. We leave a journal for guests to write comments and have frequent contact with our rental agent. Had we known of these concerns, we would have responded during their stay. The kitchen issues have been addressed with our cleaning service - cleanliness is essential and this is the 1st such report we have ever received. The DVD player will be replaced and the wireless Internet addressed - both before the next guests arrive in 3 days. There were multiple spring and early summer applications of insecticide. In a wooded/sandy outside area, ants and daddy long legs are in their element. We will address this. The trees surronding the deck can be seen two ways - either blocking a view or providing privacy. Some trees are on our neighbors property and some on National Seashore property. We will certainly look at these in the fall. Thank you for your comments. This is our 10th rental season, and it is our goal to provide a home where each guest has a most enjoyable vacation!
