Perfect place

My Friends I really loved and enjoyed your beautiful place. The location is perfect. The concierge, a Portuguese lady, of the building was really nice.

Great location, bad sheets

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is small but perfect size for us bc all we needed was a place to sleep and store food. That said, sleep was important and the pilled sheets were like sleeping on sand paper.

We slept on top of the top sheet so that helped. BTW, I did read another person's review that said the same thing so before I booked I contacted management and was assured the sheet issue was fixed. Not. Hoping they fix it now for the next guest. Pretty easy to do.

We did not cook but could have (condiments were provided). Bath and half was helpful with 4 people. Never learned how to use the washing machine, that would have saved us some angst bc we packed light.

Biggest issue was with VRBO - need to have ALL booking communication go thru the site, no side emails. We arrived earlier than planned and it took me 30 minutes and a fluke to find the email that had the local contact info. It was in an email exchange separate from the VRBO booking window messaging. my bad for not putting that into my calendar right away. And VRBO should have local contact info and emergency contact info for the property as a mandatory requirement.

But they don't require that evidently. They only had a corporate contact and the first time I called they gave me a wrong number; not a great way to start after an all night flight. When I did get thru, the office was closed. VRBO helpline was ok, not great.

Great location

This was a great location in the Marais, close to shops, restaurants, sights. The place was clean. It was nice that it had laundry and small kitchen to cook if you wanted.

the Loft bed was a hit with my kids!

  • 4 of 5

My kids, ages 8&6, picked this apartment over other options because of the loft bed -- and it did not disappoint :) they loved staying up there and were quite comfortable. aside from that, the apartment is clean and cheery, the view out the windows is lovely, it was all well maintained and in working order, and the location was perfect -- close to the metro, place des vosges, great cafes and restaurants, supermarket just around the corner... yet still nice & quiet and away from the hustle & bustle of the touristy areas of Paris.

we had a bit of an issue on the first night when the fuse blew and lost all electricity in the apartment -- I had to run to the cafe down the street for wifi so that I could notify vincent/clement but they were able to resolve it fairly quickly. I would've liked a proper toaster oven (not just a toaster) to warm a baguette.

Aside from everything, I wanted to highlight how helpful Clement has been since our departure, sending back an iPad that my son left behind in the apartment. It hasn't been easy as we don't live in the states (try sending money from Guatemala to Paris, it's not so easy!), but he has gone above and beyond trying to resolve the situation for us!! thank you Clement!

Nice place but not perfect

  • 4 of 5

This was our 16th visit to Paris and 3rd time in this neighborhood. The apartment has lots going for it. It's cheerful, has a lovely courtyard, great location for shopping and attractions, two nearby Metros and buses. Walkable to many places, good restaurants and courteous local contact persons to help with problems. The kitchen is tiny but adequate for making a simple breakfast or lunch. There are so many great places to eat nearby that all you need in that regard is a few pieces of cheese and a morning croissant!

Unfortunately there were a few problems keeping us from giving a 5 star review such as:

Couldn't get the wi-fi connection to work with it's 39 character password. Valentino spent a few hours the day after we arrived working it out with the provider. The new password will make future renters happy.

On arrival we discovered the bathroom sink wasn't draining and required a visit from a plumber.

The same pilled sheets mentioned by Karin in the Aug. 16 review were still in use. We were brought replacement sheets but they were also pilled and irritating. Better quality sheets need to be provided.

Living room clock needed batteries. Very little provided in instructions regarding the TV, coffee pot, washing machine etc.

Dining chairs had wobbly seats and were worn and bent. We were brought replacement chairs during the 2nd week of our three week stay.

TV channels were changed by the provider during our last week but we had no notice of this and were told we must have done something wrong. Clement paid a visit and figured out what happened which had nothing to do with us.

Only one key was provided and the concierge did not have a key. We've always had two keys provided in every apartment we have rented.

Valentino and Clement are the local representatives for the owners who are in Rome. They did their best with the delays inherent with absentee owners.

Great Location, Cute Apartment - small suggestions for owner

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of five and were pleased with our stay in Marais. The apartment was a manageable walk (25-30 min) to Notre Dame, Hotel de Ville, the Louvre, and D'Orsay. If you can, I would recommend walking to get places because the area is just darling - little boutique shops and cafes line the quiet streets. We did need to use Metro to get to the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe because they were too far to walk.

If you have shoppers in the family, the BHV is fantastic and open on Sundays. My three daughters wish we had discovered it sooner! Just a 15-20 minute walk from the apartment.

The apartment was clean and cheery. Don't plan on cooking while you are there, the kitchen is tiny, but why would you cook in Paris anyway? :) Anyway, it was sufficient to store breakfast and lunch materials and there is an adequate coffee maker.

I appreciated that there was a hair dryer in the bathroom and we did use the washing machine which worked fine - our clothes dried quickly on the rack provided when set in front of the window.

The loft bed actually attaches to a sort of attic with another mattress. This space was nice for my two daughters on the loft bed to store their belongings so we didn't have everyone's stuff all over the living room. My third daughter was on the hide-a-bed and said it was very comfortable.

The concierge who lives in an apartment on the ground floor is just lovely. Armina, who met us with the key, did a great job of showing us around the apartment. There were a couple minor things broken from previous renters which she pointed out so we didn't need to worry about being held accountable for them.

Now, I do have one suggestion for the owner. It seemed like there could have been more generous provision for the "little things".....we ran out of toilet paper (okay, that's actually a big thing), there was no soap provided in the bathrooms (or shampoo/conditioner/etc), only one kitchen towel. Having a more ready stock of these things would make the guests' time a little more seamless. Also, the sheets on our master bed were really pilled up, might be time for a new set with higher percale.

However, all in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this apartment to others.
