Katudala's is a quiet refuge for folks in search of a place to hang their hat, relax, sunbathe, go for a walk on the beach, or on numerous National Park trails, go birding or biking, spend the day in Martha's Vineyard/ Nantucket, go antiquing in Dennis/Yarmouth; or just want to spend a quiet day of reading, painting, or writing as you view the Atlantic for inspiration.
Excerpts from the 'Log' say more than ads:: '...We saw the turkeys and chicks, Baltimore Oriole, the pair of cardinals, and seals at the beach. No fox or dear this year. We spent lots of time relaxing on the deck reading, walked the beach. Enjoyed great food at Finely JP's, Blackfish, Sam's Deli & ice cream at Nauset Ice Cream. Wish we could stay longer. Alas, must go back to work.' from New Hampshire
'...we were able to slow down from our usual routine and enjoy many things: the birds, deer, rebbits, turkeys and their babies, walks, the ocean, CC Museum of Art, some local friends, books (Jeff - 4, Deb - 3), etc.. I broke my rule of 'no TV or news' on vacation and watched a little to keep up with the campaign, especially Hillary's 'exit' speech. I didn't want too many surprises when I get back to the real world. Until next time...' from Connecticut
More excerpts: '...I appreciate the quiet time and the at home cozy feeling....'
'After eleven years we've revisited Katudala's to find it the same as it was then: private and personal, charming and delightful with seas, sky, sand, and all of nature's trimmings thrown into the bargain!...' from Hohenweg SWITZERLAND
Wonderful holiday here (again!!). This is a beautiful place to take time out of a busy life and enjoy the beauty of nature. We've walked, cycled, relaxed and we find outselves going home with a feeling of peace. the creatures have been entertaining as usual - especially the turkeys. The sunsets and moonlight nights spectacular.
thanks you again for your hospitality - and introduction to little necks. See you again next year.

Some blank verse?: Like a very subtle wine, we had
all our senses met with joy by
The sweet smell after the rain.
The light on the sea, early morning.
Sounds of birds and winds
We walked to Nauset light and
back; our feets will remember
the sand and the ways it moves
The rain wanted everything green!
...and almost succeeded...
Thanks you for this (too short) time in
your peaceful place on the Atlantic.
Merci! Quebec, CANADA 2009
We grew up in Buffalo NY (Kathy) and Attleboro MA (Nat), Married in 1961, we have three girls (two in Seattle WA, and eldest in Charlottesville VA area) and we have lived at schools where Nat taught or was administrator, and Kathy has been working in clothing and gift retail for thirty-odd years. We are both very much involved in volunteering locally with church, Habitat, Audubon, and the Cape Cod National Seashore in which we live.
Nat & Kathy Goddard, CyberRentals member since July 1999 purchased this cottage in 1934
Nat's grandparents built the main house in the 1930's. Nat has summered in Eastham since the 1930's, while he, Kathy and their family have done so here since the 1960's. The name of the cottage, 'Katudala', was the nickname given to Nat's mother by her father. Where he found the name has yet to be determined!
Privacy, seclusion, sounds and sights of wildlife are what most of our guests tell us are most memorable. But, we suggest you go to the 'Recommendations' section of this website to read about Katudala's assets in the words of our guests
Upon departure these Post-its were left by the guest at various locations around the cottage, as "thank yous" for: salt & pepper mills; warmth; new stove; awesome deck; spectacular view to enjoy; a bedroom with lots of space and storage; having everything so tidy and organized; a warm cozy bed; the lovely blue & white & wood decor....goes so perfectly with the view; a well-appointed place to stay; bringing the outdoors indoors; a kitchen that made food prep a breeze; the red vinegar....I forgot mine; well-built, well-maintain, well-loved place to be; perfect place to relax and dream; keeping the whole cottage spotlessly clean!
Delightful cottage, location and hosts! Stayed at Katudala in May during the cool spell and happy to have a cozy spot to enjoy the array of song birds, wild turkeys and hawks. Traveled the cape from Orleans and Brewster to P-town, bayside and oceanside all while enjoying fresh seafood! Highly recommend the cottage with views of the Atlantic, 3 minute walk to the beach, access to marsh boardwalk and wood trail. Come enjoy this wonderful location!
My lady friend and I had the most wonderful time at the Cape, and it all began with renting out the perfectly located and lovely cottage, Katudala. It has everything you need for a pleasant stay. It's an attractive looking place, thats very well kept and clean, with a very comfy king size bed, nice full bathroom (with an outside shower option as well), an entertaining living area, plus accommodating kitchen. The living area and bedroom have a nice view of the ocean through beautiful bay windows (I enjoyed watching the sunrise sparkling across the morning water). The landscape is also nice and well kept. It's a quiet area too which I like, giving it that relaxing feeling. The owners, Nat and Kathy, are very friendly and make you feel right at home. They are very happy to provide for your needs in the cottage, as well as providing useful and interesting information on exploring the Cape. They have been a pleasure to talk with and be around. I look forward to going back someday, and I highly recommend, Katudala, for those considering a vacation to the Cape. I think Eastham is a good place to rent if you want to explore much of the Cape, as its near the center of Cape Cod, allowing you to travel both ends withing 45 minutes. If you enjoying biking, the Cape Cod Rail Trail is just a few minutes away from the cottage. I just loved my stay. Thanks Nat and Kathy.
Very private. We saw the owners when checking in and not thereafter. Beautiful view of Life Guard Beach and lots of colorful birds. For senior citizens with bad backs the bed may be a bit too rugged, otherwise, all the comforts of home.
My husband and I had such a relaxing time at the CC Getaway. All we heard and saw was the ocean and beautiful birds. It was so comfy, private and quiet. We will definitely be back.
This lovely cape cod rental is located perfectly :) The sunrise is amazing this time of year and you can either watch it from the comforts of home thru the big picture window or walk to the beach and be there within 5 min. You can hear the ocean waves from the deck and inside the home. Home is fully equipped with the amenities you will need. Close to all towns for lots of shopping! Rte 6 is a hop skip jump away. And now about our hosts; cutest couple ever! Very accomadating and friendly. Upon our arrival we arrived during dinner time and were greeted with home made bicuits, which were delicous. They had brochures and a book about the area and things to do. The grounds are very cape cod and maintained. We didn't even see them the day we left, but we left them a note for kindness and hospitality. The deck is a good size and they have both types of grills. It was a bit cold when we went so we couldn't sit outside but we did venture out. The bedroom is large and comfortable. The king size bed is also comfortable and also has an amazing view. Plenty of storage space. Loved the wide plank floors, comfy kitchen, comfortable bathroom, and living space. The place is ver clean and lots of natural light. Nauset light house is very close by. Nauset beach, which hosts the sunrise, chock full of seals and roaring waves. i took some beautiful artisitc pictures there. Definitely visitng again. Thanks Cat & Nat for a wonderful relaxing stay.
My husband and I, originally from New England, recently spent a wondrous month at this delightful guesthouse. We had been here for a few days in fall 2010 as a little extra treat after attending my husband's 50th high school reunion in CT, and thought we'd love to come back some day.
Well, this was the summer and each day was perfect. We had incredible weather for our stay, only having 2-3 days of rain, and thoroughly enjoyed the sun and moon rises of each day. We were treated to the "blue moon" of August and the nightly star displays. To wake up each morn, with the sky ablaze with pink sunrise across the Atlantic, was pure joy.
Owners Nat and Kathy were always available and saw to it that we lacked nothing. They even shared fresh veggies from their garden.
I had spent summers all through college at the Cape and this was a dream-come-true. I guess I'd call it my own "Sentimental Journey".
The area is so charming, so away from it all, yet there's really everything you'd want within a short distance. To be able to just take a short jaunt to gorgeous Coast Guard Beach, ride your bikes on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, to be able to visit all the villages in the area, take a restful ride up beautiful 6A, attend the Schooner Regatta in Ptown, and so much more- the fish markets, the restaurants, the shops-the sunsets on the bay side-
We often rent on the Cape, usually coming with extended family, but this time it was just the two of us. Nat and Kathy provided so much that, in the past we have had to purchase ourselves, and, coming from a long distance by plane, that was so wonderful.
We weren't sure of staying a month is such a small space, but with the gorgeous deck and beautiful windows, our accommodations became so very much more than the guesthouse. We were part of the Cape Cod National Seashore and kin with the Atlantic.
I can add nothing more. To me, this is my #1 favorite vacation, over Italy, over the Greek Islands, over Hawaii-It was a little slice of heaven.
Paula and Larry Nappi, Meridian, ID
Eastham historic 'Land of First Light'; Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor Center, activities, and museum; cycling & hiking tails; flea market; broad cuisine variety; ocean & bay beaches; charter whale-watching/birding/sight-seeing cruises; boating
Other Activities: Programs and trails at Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary (Audubon), nature walks at Natural History Museum in Brewster, lake and marine kayaking, art and craft shows everywhere, lots of live theatre!
Golf: Do you like 'links' golfinglike you get in Scotland? Try Highland Golf Links overlookiung the Atlantic in Truro...an experience you won't forget! If you like groomed fairways try any one of four public courses from Harwich/Brewster eastward.
Ski: You could probably rent a jet ski from Nauset Marine if you get tired of the peace and tranquility of Katudala's. But, I would suggest a canoe or kayak. You'll love it and the wildlife, and maybe a 'little neck' quahog on the half shell on a sand bar.
