Why Treather Gassmann chose Bourne

This particular house has been in our family since the 1950's. Our family has a history of summering in Monument Beach since the 1920's. My mother grew up playing in the park down the street and would stop in to her various relatives homes most days before heading home. As times do change and people pass away, our neighborhood is still a welcoming spot, with warm and friendly neighbors.

Our house is on a dead end road on beautiful Phinney's Harbor. It is a friendly neighborhood made up of some beautiful, older homes. It's a wonderful, quieter getaway area with almost no sign of tourists.

Perfect beach vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased with our stay at Monument Beach. We had three families, with six children altogether - three toddlers and a 5, 6, and 7 year old. This was the perfect accommodation for our group. The home is beautiful and is fully supplied for all your needs. Plenty of linens, extra pillows, and all the necessary cookware (including the vitally important coffee maker!). The huge porch was my favorite part, with plenty of rocking chairs to watch one of the most gorgeous sunsets I have ever seen. The kids begged to go down to the beach as soon as they woke up. It was just the right amount of sand, water, and small critters to keep them all entertained for literally hours. There is a park and an ice cream shop just down the block. The one thing I would note is the walls are very thin (as in any old house). So when one of the toddlers woke up yelling and running around, we would often move to the porch or the beach to let the rest of the house sleep in. I would love to stay here again!

Owner's Response: Many thanks to Marilyn and family for leaving our home in such great condition! We're so glad that everyone had such a great time and were able to catch some of the sunsets. It was great to see the kids playing at the beach and and hearing the sunset cheers! Yes, these older beach homes do have thin walls. It seems that families leave here feeling a little bit closer... We hope that you come back for a longer stay in the future! Best, Treather

wonderful place to escape life for a while

  • 4 of 5

My 3 kids and their families joined me for a wonderful week in this lovely home. We LOVED the big beautiful porch with the stunning views of the water and sunset. It was so relaxing to sit and listen to the gulls and enjoy our time together there. The waterfront was especially fun for my grandson who made good use of the many water toys available. The public beach and the children's playground were a short walk away. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed wonderful meals in the large and cozy dining room. The beds are very comfortable and the water views from the bedrooms are amazing to wake up to. All in all, a quiet and comfortable place to unwind. For those who need to commute off the cape, the location is perfect. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. Wish I was back there right now.

Cape Cod Living at Its Best

  • 5 of 5

Pioneer Cottage was the perfect place for our girls get together. We enjoyed our days on the quiet beach, morning coffee and afternoon cocktails on the huge porch with beautiful views of the harbor, and dinners in the spacious dining room. The house was clean and very comfortable and charming and the owners were always available to help us find something in the pantry or to give us recommendations for shopping, dining and art galleries. Everything from beach towels and chairs to a lobster pot and espresso machine was available. We all loved our beach house waterfront location and are planning our next visit.

Great Deck - Right on the Harbor!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our annual family vacation - and we already miss this great big happy house on the harbor! It may have been steamy everywhere else, but we just jumped in the water or sat in the beautiful breeze! Great house and very kind hostess!
