About Stephen Todd
Stephen Todd is an architect who retired in 1997 and accidentally started to adopt abandoned dogs and cats, currently seven of each. Jackie Todd wrote about moving to Spain and adopting the animals. Her book 'Dog Days in Andalucia' is available from Amazon. Sadly Jackie died in 2010. Stephen has since been extraordinarily lucky and married Patricia. He speaks Spanish and lives close by his rental properties providing on site help when needed.
Stephen Todd purchased this House in 1997
Why Stephen Todd chose Frigiliana
You only have to walk in to La Panificadora to be transported to a world of Arabian nights. This stunning house was part of a group of flour and olive mills driven by water brought from the mountains in channels built by the Moors. It has been sensitively converted to maintain the character and beautifully decorated with handmade tiles and original ceramics and paintings.

A simply beautiful property owned by Stephen and Tricia who were very very friendly and helpful.
A beautiful home from home property with immense charm and as much warmth from the owner
We stayed for 10 days at the beginning of Jan and La Panifacdora proved to be the perfect set up for our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids). The location is perfect. Two minutes walk into the nature reserve to trek through the mountains, two mins drive from the centre of Frigiliana and 5 mins drive from the beach of Nerja. We have so many memories from our adventures and will most certainly book a return trip. Stephen was there to welcome us on our first day and was there to help and advise at any time....Stephen, we cannot thank you enough for wonderful time we had. Have already recommended to several of my closest friends and would highly recommend a stay at La Panificadora or Cash Rosa next door....or even both if you are a bigger group.
We had four nights at The Panificadora, and it was absolutely wonderful! The place vas very charming, beautiful and relaxing - even more than the pictures tell. The house was situated next to the road, but it wasnt't anything that annoyed, when we were in the garden and by the pool. I hope we'll return one day...
Beautiful rustic house with everything you need for a wonderful holiday.
Just returned from a wonderful 10nt stay at La Panificadora. The photos do not do it justice, the outside space is much bigger than we expected. The pool and the BBQ were made good use of due to the excellent weather. It was so lovely just to chill out there day and night. There was plenty of space for 7 of us (5 adults & 2 children). Pool towels are provided and the house was cleaned and linens changed twice during our stay. We visited Nerja, Frigiliana and Aquavelis water park, all are easily reached from La Molineta. The rest of the time we were happy to enjoy the lovely house and pool. We would love to return to la Panificadora in the near future. Thank you Stephen for sharing your excellent property.
Love the Fitzpatrick's and Foster family.
What a find!
Traveled with my husband and 4 children aged 11 to 17. We thought it was going to be nice but it was amazing. I stayed in many places and don't often feel excited at arriving somewhere but this property and place was a rare find. We loved the place itself with the thick white walls, nooks and crannies and you could say a bit all over the place but here it totally works. So many seating areas, both inside and out. The pool isn't huge but very appealing, you want to be out there. Our children had great fun in it. The bar across the way (25 steps) is a definite plus, a nice distraction and even the 11 year old could go across for his cola (not something we would normally advocate for an 11 year old). Thank you to Stephen and Patricia and well done on providing a beautiful property for us and fellow travellers.
True luxury and comfort - Amazing
yself my wife our 3 young daughters and my father and mother in law stayed in the Panificadora for two weeks this August. What can I say? The Panificadora exceeded all expectations. We had previously stayed in villas in the mountains around Frigiliana and found that we spent a lot of time in the car driving to Frigiliana, Nerja and supermarkets in town. However, this time because La Panificadora is located in the beautiful hamlet of la molineta we were located ideally. A 5 minute drive to the breathtaking village of Frigiliana and 15 munites from Nerja Town, beach and supermarkets. This time therefore we spent minimal time driving and maximum time relaxing and exploring the aforementioned locations. As for the house itself, it blew us away as soon as we arrived through the front door. The history, authentic decor with clever modern artistic touches and amazing views of the countryside leave you feeling privileged to be staying there. Most impressively though it feels like a home rather than a holiday rental villa. The facilities are great and especially having a large size double American fridge really makes a difference to having the usual under counter fridge with tiny ice box! The owners Stephen and Patricia were an unexpected bonus to the holiday. They provided such a warm welcome and if you are interested in finding out about the local area they are only too happy to advise. Best place to meet them is the little bar only a few yards opposite the house. It's a great place to watch the world go by and meet some of the locals. An amazing holiday. Thank you!
Andalucia is the largest autonomous region of Spain with a fascinating history and rich cultural heritage. The people are laid back and welcoming, the countryside is magnificent and the climate is mild in winter and hot in summer. Granada and the Alhambra Palace are not to be missed but the Old Town and harbour side in nearby Malaga are well worth a visit. Here you will find the Picasso Museum. There is winter skiing in the nearby Sierra Nevada, water sports all along the coast and golf on championship courses. Set on the edge of a National Park, Frigiliana has been awarded prizes for the most beautiful village in Spain. Cobbled streets with flower filled balconies and intimate shady courtyards transport the visitor back to the scented Arabian nights of the Moorish conquerors. There are fine restaurants and rustic bars with great local dishes and wines. Each town and village has it´s own Saint´s day and colourful noisy fiestas. San Antonio on the 13th June in Frigiliana and San Isidro on the 15th May in Nerja.
