The apartment, in the heart of St.Ives, has the external characteristics of its original net loft identity whilst its interior is in-keeping with the Modernist Piazza/Barnaloft complex of flats with which it shares facilities. As well as private access to Porthmeor Beach (during summer months), which allows you to return to the shower straight from the sea, the shared facilities also include a viewing platform of the beach from the roof of the flats, a laundrette and recycling. There is a locally owned corner shop opposite the apartment that supplies a good range of groceries and newspapers. Other shops, banks, restaurants, pubs, beaches and the harbour are only a few minutes walk away.

The apartment is light, uncluttered and spacious with plenty of storage throughout. It has the unique benefits of having no attached neighbours above, below and to one side as well as a baby grand piano. The apartment was carefully updated in 2008 to provide for contemporary needs including free WiFi.

There are several steps leading to the front door. The two bedrooms are off the hall. Bedroom One has a 4ft 6ins double bed and a washbasin with a shaver point. Bedroom Two has 2x3ft bunk beds. Upstairs the lounge has a double sofa bed, allowing more sleeping options, with its bedlinen stored in the kitchen benches. There is a large screen TV with Freeview, which is suitable for using with most games consoles, a DVD player and CD/radio. The shower room has a large shower cubicle, washbasin with shaver point, WC, heated towel rail and airing cupboard containing the central heating boiler. The kitchen/dining room has an electric cooker, washing machine, microwave, fridge and telephone (for incoming calls only).

Electricity and gas are included in the rental cost. Gas central heating means the apartment is warm and cosy all year round, which makes it a perfect place in which to enjoy Christmas (Christmas tree and decorations will be included if you wish) and New Year festivities (don’t forget your fancy dress!). Duvets, bedlinen, towels and kitchen tea towels are provided but we ask visitors to bring their own beach towels. There is no parking with the property but we can recommend different parking options in the town, no smoking please and no pets are allowed in the apartment (we can recommend a pet care service in St.Ives if you wish to bring pets with you on holiday). Visitors are asked to arrive after 3pm on their first Saturday, to depart before 10am on the final Saturday and to leave the flat as they found it.

There is a cupboard in the hall with a rail for coats and some beach equipment and beach toys. There is a child safety gate for the stairs, stored in the bunk bedroom as well as a highchair and travel cot stored in the bedroom cupboards.

Well placed for Porthmeor Beach, this property is immaculate. Extremely clean, extraordinarily well equipped kitchen (i did a fair amount of cooking for friends) and very comfortable. As mentioned by others, Laura's thoughtful approach - beach and bath towels, flowers, cake and a welcome care package were most appreciated. We left a jacket behind and it is already in the post! Thank you Laura for a great stay!

Happy Holidays in St Ives

This apartment is beautifully presented and equipped. The goodies thoughtfully left on the kitchen table were gratefully disposed of when we arrived and the private entrance to the beach was a revelation. We would definitely like to stay here again.

The perfect getaway!

What could be better than arriving to chocolate cake and fluffy towels! We had a wonderful October getaway staying in Laura's lovely apartment in St.Ives. The location is great with the surf beach of Porthmeor a few steps away and the harbour a couple of minutes in the opposite direction. The apartment is bright and airy with plenty of space to chill out and two very comfortable bedrooms. We have never been to such a well equipped holiday home, from salt and pepper to bin bags and loo rolls, all were provided by our thoughtful host. The apartment has wifi that works flawlessly, and our 8 year old really enjoyed being able do his piano practice on the beautiful baby grand! We had no problem parking in the Island car park, and although it was not high season it is definitely worth buying a week’s parking permit from the website before you go. St.Ives always seems to offer something for both the grown ups and children, we enjoyed the restaurants and our 8 year old now wants to be a lifeboatman! This really was the perfect short break and we hope to return to Laura’s apartment very soon!

Perfect retreat and such a great location

We stayed for a weekend in this lovely cottage. The location could not have been better. With two beaches just 30 seconds away we could not have asked for more. Restaurants and shops just a couple of minutes walk away. The cottage itself was modern and welcoming. My 7 year old daughter was delighted to see the chocolate cake in the welcome pack. Tea, coffee and milk were waiting for us so we didn't have to go shopping after the long drive to St Ives. The kitchen was modern and fully stocked with various condiments. The house smelt fresh and was very clean. There were all manner of nets, buckets and spades so we didn't have to go shopping for them. The nights were quiet with just the occasional sound of the waves lapping the beach. We could not have asked for more....the Wi-Fi was quick as well. Communication was excellent with the owner and all questions were answered very quickly. I would highly recommend this property for couples and small families.

Great location!

Fantastic apartment, very modern well maintained with everything you need in a great location! Couldn't find a fault and the owners are very helpful and thoughtful, even sent my wife a birthday card while we celebrated her 40th in st Ives! Own beach access is a real bonus with plenty of beach toys available! We are certain to be repeat customers!!

Porthmeor Beach is located in the ‘down along’ area of St. Ives that was formerly inhabited by fishermen, their cottages and lofts in which they repaired their nets. Porthmeor is one of five beautiful beaches in the town of St. Ives, each with their own character. The Westward facing Porthmeor is well-known for surfing and the Tate Gallery and as a great place for beach BBQ's whilst enjoying dramatic sunsets. Coastal paths from St. Ives are rich with a wealth of wildlife such as wild flowers, sea birds, seals and occasional dolphins. After a good half-day's walk from Porthmeor enjoy a well-deserved meal in the Tinner's Arms in the village of Zennor where DH Lawrence wrote his famous novel 'Women in Love'. Be sure to look for the mermaid in Zennor Church before catching the open-top bus back to St. Ives. Boat trips from the harbour will take you either deep sea fishing or to visit the seals living on Seal Island. You could treat yourselves to a meal in the best restaurant in St.Ives, Porthminster Beach cafe, overlooking St. Ives Bay and Godrevy Lighthouse made famous by Virginia Woolf's novel 'To the Lighthouse'.

During the 1940’s the down along area of St. Ives began to be shared by artists including Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth (Barbara Hepworth Museum is in St. Ives) and Bernard Leach (Leach Pottery also in St.Ives). These and other artists colonised the area, converting warehouses into artists’ studios. They were followed by more artists including Patrick Heron, Peter Lanyon, Terry Frost and Roger Hilton. Eventually, in the 1990’s, on the site of the old gasworks, the famous Tate St. Ives was built. St. Ives has therefore become a place of pilgrimage for artists and art lovers. St. Ives School of Painting is just around the corner and offers drop in life drawing classes and week long courses.
