Our stay at the cottage was wonderful beginning from initial contact with Pam, the owner, through the time we left. The cottage was spacious and well appointed and in a very peaceful location. It is also located on the bike path to Davis and we enjoyed pedaling to campus to visit our daughter. This will be our first choice on our next visit.
With gracious hosts, beautiful gardens, and a restful and modern guesthouse, it was a delightful visit.
Garden Guesthouse gratitude
It was another peaceful and satisfying stay at the garden guesthouse. Thank you to Pam and Raoul for making it possible.
A Sublime Retreat by Davis
My husband, son and I stayed at the garden guesthouse June 30th through early July, 2018. We were warmly welcomed by Pam and her family, and given our private space there to enjoy as a home base, while visiting our family, just 10 minutes away, in west Davis. This spacious, comfortably cooled home, with a lovely French Door entry to the inviting garden, and a bedroom view of a Maxfield Parrish evening sky, is, quite simply, a lovely place to stay! The home has beautifully appointed furnishings, kitchen cookware, and world market ceramic tableware for home dining. We delighted in being able to easily host my elderly parents, and another couple from the retirement community, at the big dining table for a birthday cake tea. Since the furnishings, wood, and tile work are so nice, the damage deposit is entirely justified, and was respectfully refunded. I will say it is a place to be somewhat careful, hence shoes are removed to keep rock chips out, and care was taken to keep woodwork dry, not tip over a nightstand vase, or test glass on marble countertops (Okay, so we did once!). Our inexpensive cell phone didn't get good reception at this location. Yet it was an entirely relaxing home for our extended visit. The garden was generously shared with us; we found sweet giant figs, freshly ripening aromatic peaches, and plump red plums to grace our table. The sun heats the pool, which was very clean, and wonderfully refreshing for swimming (75 to 79 degrees during a dry 90 to 103 spell). It was also great to have our own master bedroom, with solid wood doors...while our 6 foot tall teen son slept soundly on the living room hide-a-bed. My husband often has a bad back, and we can not find a comfortable bed in hotels when we travel (we use a sleep number bed at home), but the pillow top king bed ("Bamboo" brand) sent us blissfully to dreamland, in this wonderfully quiet, country retreat, every evening of our 11 night stay.
Thank you for the kind review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay.
Great stay in Davis
Beautiful property. Hosts were very helpful and accommodating.
We enjoyed our two weeks at the garden guesthouse! The "cottage" is beautiful and the grounds charming, even in winter. We have to return to enjoy watching the trees bloom and the outdoor gardens turn green. The hosts are friendly and close enough for help if needed, but distant enough for privacy.
