About Sue Hyde
We are Peter and Sue Hyde. Peter's family are local farmers who have lived and worked in this area for seven generations. we have two adult sons who both continue in farming and countryside vocations.
Sue Hyde purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Sue Hyde chose Winfrith Newburgh
Our lovely home in Winfrith Newburgh sits above the village in airy, secluded beech woods. We built Little Glebe to be a holiday home that could share this superb location, but also retain it's own sense of peace and privacy. Then we furnished it with soft coastal colours and natural oak throughout to make the inside feel really special! In November 2017 we have added three new Velux windows upstairs to ensure greater headroom within the sloping eaves.
What makes this Cottage unique
Little Glebe is an 'upside down' house, with two cosy en suite bedroom downstairs. This enables visitors to enjoy sweeping views across the surrounding countryside from the upstairs French windows. Our sheep, hens and dogs complete the delightful rural environment, and deer, foxes, owls and badgers are regular, but shy nightime visitors.

Little Glebe was lovely in every way. So cosy, amazing views and everything is provided. Hosts are brill and location is ideal - close to beach and towns. Can't wait to go again!
Cosy cottage, clean and tidy
Lovely location near Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. Cottage ideal for 2 people, although the two bedrooms both have en-suite bathrooms, the upstairs living area is rather small.
Beautiful modern conversion. Very well designed; lovely big living/dining space upstairs
Despire poor weather, thoroughly enjoyed the house and the location. Lots of space for 4; very comfortable; 2 high quality bedrooms and bathrooms.
The external shots don't really do the cottage justice, we loved it both inside and out, lovely country noises of the sheep and the rooks and a real feeling of being away from it all. The cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped, spotlessly clean and a great home from home for a break in Dorset. We plan to be back at some point.
Thank you. You were very welcome guests, and it was really useful to hear your views on some of our local pubs and restaurants. The Wise Man, The Cove Hotel and the Anchor at Seatown all seem to have gone down well.
Our lovely lambs will miss their audience!!
Very well appointed property with everything that you would need
In a lovely area to explore the Jurassic coast and the log burner was lovely for our snowy stay
Thank you for taking the time to post this review. Glad you enjoyed your stay. It’s good to know that Little Glebe was cosy and warm despite the snow. Please visit again...
Fanastic weekend escape
Little Glebe is well kitted out, warm and comfortable with loads of wood kindling for the log burner - a really welcoming place. Superb base for visiting the area. Loads of information provided by the owners who were friendly and helpful. We were there in Feb with clear night skies - amazing.
Thank you for such lovely words. We try really hard to make Little Glebe peaceful, cosy and comfortable and it's a real bonus to know we got it right for you. We very much enjoyed having you both as guests...
Winfrith Newburgh is just two miles from Lulworth Cove on the stunning World Heritage Jurassic coastline and South West coast path. It is nine miles from the county town of Dorchester and 18 miles from the more bustling conurbations of Poole and Bournemouth. There is a friendly local post office/village store and three pubs nearby. If the weather’s good you may not get further than the local coastline and beaches, but then you’d miss out on other fabulous locations such as Corfe Castle, the Cerne Abbas Giant, the Tank Museum, Monkey World, the Blue Pool, Swanage Railway, Sherborne Abbey, Portland Bill and many others…
