About Anne

We are an English/French family with three children who have spent their childhood at the Mas de la Plume. We absolutely adore Provence and Eygalieres in particular. There is so much to do and discover in the area that we always experience something new, yet it is always so good to come back home where the heart is. We lived at the farmhouse about a third of every year and always had such a fabulous time whatever the season. Now that the children are leaving the nest, we have decided to share our pleasure with our guests.

Anne purchased this farmhouse in 2000

Why Anne chose Alpilles

We fell in love with Eygalieres and the Alpilles a long time ago and I was used to hiked in the Alpilles with my family. Mas de la Plume is our "maison de famille" and very special to us because it is in a quiet location in the country with beautiful views but not isolated since it is only a short walk away from the village to enjoy all what it has to offer (shops, bars, restaurants, weekly market).

What makes this farmhouse unique

We love the farmhouse and believe that our care shows in all the details that create its true charm. It was conceived first and above all as our family home and we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do as it is a very special place to relax and have a true provencal experience. Our family and friends always comment about how relaxed and content they feel here and how difficult it is to leave.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The charming village is a short walk with varied restaurants , so you can enjoy an evening out without driving, it has everything you need and a colourful market on Fridays for fresh produce, gifts and is a, " must", to visit. There are so many lovely towns in the vicinity which the thoughtful owner suggests in their comprehensive file when you arrive. The house has everything you could possible need and more, all of a very high standard. It is such a find! we cannot wait to go back. (trip Advisor review)

More than Fantastic Vacation in Provence

  • 5 of 5

As soon as you arrive you feel that you have your perfect private destination. This is a beautifully restored farmhouse by a designer with impeccable taste. The kitchen is extremely well equipped for eating at home. The house is well located for short trips to many attractions and villages. The grounds include an olive grove, lovely pool and several covered seating areas. Eygalieres is a charming village with an historic area worth visiting above the town. It has many amenities but is not touristy. We would definitely rent this property again and have recommended it to friends.

Stunning Mas in Les Alpilles

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful house inside and out, in a pitch-perfect setting. It's within easy walking distance of Eygaliere, a charming village with its own market, local food shops and various excellent restaurants. The property has been a family home and this makes the house extra special. As you'd expect, it's lovingly maintained and extremely clean. It has all those little touches including plenty of good books DVD's and a selection of games. Outside, there's a pretty garden surrounding a really good sized pool which is deliciously free of chemicals. Our group consisted of family only and some tired people in need of a break. We know the area well from previous visits so we had an indulgently lazy time enjoying the house and the village. But there's much to see and all this is supplied by the owner in a fact sheet with a host of useful information. We could not recommend this house more highly - in fact we've already booked for next year. It's fabulous. Lastly, our favourite restaurant was undoubtedly Sous Les Micocouliers. great cooking, charming staff and a pretty shaded garden setting. And don't miss the cheese shop.

Paradise in Provence

  • 5 of 5

We spent an idyllic week at Le Mas de la plume in late July/early August, falling in love with the place. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, traditionally built, with all mod cons, and set in perfect surroundings, with its own little olive grove and swimming pool. You can tell that the owners love the house themselves, it has a happy atmosphere, and is so pretty. It is equipped to a superbly high standard. The house manager is very helpful and will arrive at the drop of a hat to deal with any questions.

Not only are the house and grounds superb, but it is within a short walk of Eygalieres, a charming Provençale village with cafes, restaurants and high quality butcher, delicatessen and bakers. There is a wonderful market on Friday morning which boasts all the colours and flavours of Provence.

A short drive away there is a larger town, St Remy de Provence, which is equally charming. Avignon, Aix and Marseilles are within easy driving distance. So the location is perfect as there is so much to see on your doorstep.

All in all, a perfect holiday: we long to go back!

Understated luxury

  • 5 of 5

Even though it is a rental property from time to time, the Mas retains the warmth and personal touches of a happy family home (albeit a remarkably luxurious one), and therein lies its charm. We were two families, with another family visiting for a short period, and it was the perfect house for us: spacious, with everything one could want for a happy holiday. The view from the garden across the pool is stunning, and the terrace (which has been carefully planned to maximise shade throughout the day) meant the children could spend all day in the pool while the adults relaxed in the shade. It was that rarest of things: a rental property which is even better than its (already very impressive) website description.

We had a few small teething problems at the start of the week, but they were very quickly and elegantly taken care of by Anne and by the property manager, Severine, and in no way diminished the pleasure of our holiday. The service we received, and the communication we had, was exceptional: Anne really cared about making sure we enjoyed our stay.

The local village has a number of small bistros and one truly exceptional ice-cream cafe (which was heavily tested). We really enjoyed the local fete which took place at the end of our first week, including bull running through the streets, but the Mas was so pleasant that we didn't feel the need to venture far from it on day trips.

It was a truly wonderful holiday, and we can't wait to return next year.

Perfect place in Provence

  • 5 of 5

With the mas de la plume, it was love at first sight and even more when we got there. We wanted to discover Provence and the farmhouse was the perfect base to tour around. The house is charming, welcoming and comfortable with a great decor and everything anyone can need.

With Anne’s recommendations, we have visited many beautiful places and enjoyed the wonderful food and wines of the area.

There is so much to do to please adults and children alike. In fact, we probably did not do as much as we planned because we just wanted to stay home, relax and enjoy the slow pace of life in this truly beautiful place.

3 dream weeks at the Mas de la Plume

  • 5 of 5

Ancient stones, centuries old beams, 18th century flagstones, refined decoration (wrought iron, old doors, soft colours) and a warm ambiance. Our family has spent the best Christmas holidays at the mas de la plume and I can say that it is a house where life is truly good and easy.

What impressed us most was the feeling to live in a home full of character and history, yet enjoying all the modern facilities such as insulation, heating, quality bathrooms. Everything is perfectly done, an alliance of beauty and convenience.

I also must say that we have been welcomed by the lovely owner’s agent that has been very helpful and who can also provide any concierge service.

The house enjoys an unencumbered vista over the beautiful Alpilles, right on the edge of the Regional Park, and is conveniently placed 15 minutes walking from the charming village of Eygalieres often bustling even out of season. Do not miss the Friday morning market!

Inside, the house offers charm and comfort. Downstairs, the very large living room opens towards the olive grove and garden. With its grand fireplace, it is the perfect place to gather after a walk in the Alpilles or to the village and relax with a mug of tea (or something else...). If you prefer to snuggle in a smaller place, the adjacent TV room is the right place to enjoy a good movie. The kitchen is spacious, welcoming and very well equipped. Our family (10 people) could happily gather around the large oak table for Christmas or New Year’s Eve diners. The kitchen opens to a large covered area by the pool and also to a cosy outside stone alcove with views towards the garden. Upstairs, the five beautiful and quiet bedrooms offer quality beds, good storage and their adjoining bathrooms are well done. The master bedroom is a delight with its own private terrace and views.

With being in winter, the only regret is that we could not swim in the pool or lounge in the hammock but we are already determined to come back one summer.

The farmhouse is located on the foothill of the Alpilles, a small mountain range now a Natural Park. The beautiful and lively centre of the village is only a short walk away on quiet lanes and offers many bars, restaurants, shops and boutiques. The market is held there on Friday morning.

St Remy de Provence, home of Van Gogh, Nostradamus and the Glanum Roman ruins is only 15 min away.

The charming and historic towns of Avignon, Arles, Nimes and Aix are a short drive away. Isle sur la Sorgue and its permanent large antique market is 30 min away.

The Camargue (with wild black bulls, horses and flamingoes and beaches) is about 1.5 hour away.

You can enjoy golfing, horse riding and walking in the Alpilles. The many vineyards in the vicinity will make you discover their wonderful wines in style. Plenty to see and do but, yet again, the wonderful feeling of the house might make you want to just stay and relax.
