Wonderful place, very well facilities, heartwarming welcome with fruits
We had a very well Christmas holiday at Ardmore. It has a clean and special cottage and well designed yard. Perfect location next to the main road and the biggest co-op on the island. The manager is very helpful and approachable and I appreciate it. I will definitively consider another trip in the future to the Isle of Skye and hope to stay at Ardmore again
Glad to hear you had an enjoyable Xmas at "Ardmore". Thanks for your very kind comments regarding me and my cottage. They are much appreciated.
It would be lovely to see you return in the not too distant future.
All best wishes for 2018.
A ‘home from home’ on a wonderful island
We had a most wonderful week on on Isle of Skye, staying at Ardmore. Ardmore is a real ‘home from home’, furnished to a high standard and equipped with everything you could need. It is one of the nicest holiday homes we have stayed in and will definitely return when we visit Skye again.
Glad you've had an enjoyable stay at Ardmore. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to submit a review. It is much appreciated. Thanks also for your kind comments in my Guest Book. It would be lovely to see you again in the not too distant future.
Better than we could have hoped for
The pictures do not do this home justice! Ian was a welcoming, friendly host who took the time to walk through to show and explain what we needed to know about the property. The house was very clean, well appointed, and a very quiet yet convenient location. I have zero complaints. If we did not have a full itinerary requiring us to move on, I would gladly stay indefinitely. This is a special place ❤️
Glad you enjoyed your time at "Ardmore" Thanks very much for your kind comments both here and in my Guest Book. They are much appreciated. It would be lovely to see you back in the not too distant future.
Kind RegardsIan Macmillan
Great location. Spotlessly clean. Well equipped. Beautiful water views. Perfect vacation spot.
Don't hesitate. Just book this house. The owners are wonderful hosts. When we arrived, the house was warm and welcoming with a lovely welcome basket containing everything we needed for tea, coffee, and snacks.
The owner met us personally to show us how everything worked and to make sure we knew how to contact him if we needed anything.
Honestly? The photos do not do justice to the location. The garden landscaping is beautiful with distant views of the water from every room. The house is so well equipped that we wanted for nothing. Nice laundry room with a washer and dryer was a bonus. As was the beautiful outdoor area to grill and eat. It was cold and rainy when we were there so unfortunately, we didn't' get to use it.
Televisions are in almost every room. Comfortable bed and furniture. And the location couldn't be better. We were able to explore the area south of Skye and all of Skye with ease. We were so happy that we stayed in Broadford, rather than Portree. Broadford is a comfortable location with access to 24-hour fuel for the car. Great take away food. Fish and Chips from the Waterfront. Soups and sandwiches from Deli Gasta and a great slection of grocery items at the Co-Op.
I highly recommend the Claymore Pub right at the end of the street and an easy walk. Excellent seafood and the best Cullin Skink we had anywhere.
Thanks for your kind remarks. They are much appreciated. Glad you had an enjoyable stay . Thanks also for taking the time to submit a review.
Very nice house, well equiped, good spot for visiting interesting sights on Skye
Very well equipped and large house, well looked after, big garden to run around for children, calm spot, shops within walking distance. 3 bathrooms: very practical for bigger families. Nice area for walks at the beach at low tides and also for jogging right from the house.
Thank you very much for your kind remarks. They are much appreciated. Glad you had an enjoyable stay at "Ardmore" . It would be lovely to see you again hopefully in the not too distant future.
Lovely spot for a holiday on Skye...
Pleasant surprise in the location of the property with panoramic views from all sides.
Lovely wee house, thoughtfully appointed, with all bases covered for the discerning traveller. We've stayed in worse 5* hotels.
Thanks very much for your kind comments re my holiday cottage and for taking the time and trouble to write a review. Both are much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed your stay at "Ardmore" and I would love to see you return in the not too distant future.
Broadford, the second largest village on Skye is centrally located and an ideal centre for touring the island. There is a choice of several excellent restaurants and pubs in the village, all of which are within easy walking distance. There are further restaurants a short drive away.
For those keen to sample world class cuisine there is the award-winning Three Chimneys and Lady Clare MacDonald's Kinloch Lodge etc. The Claymore, some 400 yards away, is the closest local, while those wishing a true self-catering break will be delighted with the selection of fresh seafood and farm produce available locally.
The village also boasts several hotels, a supermarket, licensed grocer, snack bar, butcher, baker, fishmonger and several art galleries and craft shops. There is also a bank, post office, two ATMs and a 24 hour service station which also sells basic groceries. For medical emergencies there is a local hospital and medical and dental surgeries.
If being right in the middle of the most glorious hillwalking and climbing scenery in Scotland isn't enough, visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities in and around the Broadford area.
Golfers will be delighted with the challenging and scenic Isle of Skye Golf Course, which welcomes golfers of all abilities (including children!) and both green fees and club hire are extremely reasonable. Unsurprisingly, the area is a paradise for anglers. Boat hire is available, and a number of local boat operators offer fishing trips, and charters. There is also some excellent fishing off the rocks. Some hirers offer you trips in a glass bottomed boat.. Others offer seal, dolphin and whale watching trips, while the more adventurous can take part in a Sea-fari Adventure.
A must is the trip on the Bella Jane to Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillin mountains. If you want to make a real day of it, Caledonian MacBrayne also run day trips to the Outer Isles. If you want to see Skye on horseback, there are a number of riding centres, although those who prefer four wheels will find some of the most spectacular and finest driving roads imaginable. The more energetic will maybe want to hire bikes - these are available locally.
Everyone knows of Skye's associations with Flora Macdonald and Bonnie Prince Charlie, but the island's history goes a little further back than that... There are numerous museums and sites of historical interest scattered throughout the island : Dunvegan Castle - seat of the Clan MacLeod , the folk museum at Kilmuir, Flora Macdonald's house at Flodigarry and the Aros Centre at Portree are just a few well worth a visit.
Try your hand at kayaking, canoeing, climbing, abseiling and archery. Whitewave at Kilmuir offer these activity sessions to individuals, families and groups.
As far as wildlife is concerned well, Skye has it all! Seals, dolphins, porpoises, red deer, rabbits and a variety of birds abound while the lucky visitor may spot an otter, a golden or a sea eagle. A dog otter can regularly be seen passing through the field in front of Ardmore. For those who have a keen desire to see an otter, there are various hides a short drive away. Every kind of wild bird imaginable is here - don't forget your camera and binoculars!
