Lovely in November

  • 5 of 5

My mom and I rented this home for 10 days over Thanksgiving. It was the perfect location for relaxing and exploring the nearby area.

We were given a key code for the door which worked well for coming and going. Chris emailed detailed instructions for getting to the cottage and checked with us a couple of times to make sure everything was okay. He responded promptly to a question I had during our stay, and was very pleasant in all of our interactions.

The cottage was very cute and comfortable. I enjoyed reading and relaxing on the oversize couch. There was also cable tv and wifi available.

The beach is an easy two block walk from the house, and I had it pretty much to myself this time of year. I loved taking long walks and watching the sun set.

The village beach shops were closed in November, but there were plenty of restaurants, grocery stories, and shops still open in Mashpee (less than 10 min drive away). I liked the cottage's location on Cape Cod in general. We were able to easily explore Cape Cod, took a ferry to Martha's Vineyard, and were even close enough for a day trip to Newport, RI to tour The Breakers mansion and walk the cliff walk.

It took us about an hour and a half from Boston to get to the cottage. We were fortunate enough not to run into much traffic.

I'm glad we decided to visit during the off season. It was nice to experience Cape Cod when it was quiet.

It was a beautiful property and very close to the beach. The house has everything you need especially the washer n dryer came in handy. Shopping, restaurants, movie theater and bowling are all within 10 min from house. Highly recommend!

Relaxing stay in Cape Cod

  • 4 of 5

We booked our stay at the last minute and we're pleased by the prompt and helpful response by the owner Chris, to our enquiries. The cottage was clean, bright and pleasantly decorated, located very close to the seashore for bracing walks. As it was October we did not use the outside courtyard areas but they seemed attractive and appeared adequately furnished. As I do cook quite a bit on holiday I would have liked a few more utensils in the kitchen, eg, frying pan, grater, mixing bowl, fish slice. The cooker and fridge freezer are both a good size however.

Both the bedrooms are spacious although the upstairs bed has rather noisy springs. The bathroom was fine. Downstairs the conservatory is an attractive and airy place to eat and the sitting room comfy. A nice place for the two of us to enjoy a relaxing stay.

Maushop village is a tasteful development and the nearby sandy beach is attractive. It was very quiet as we were there out of season. We drove to Mashpee Commons for supermarket provisions, about 5/10 minutes away. We made lots of excursions across Cape Cod and a day trip to Martha's Vineyard.

Owner's Response: Thanks very much for your review. It was great to meet you while you were renting my vacation home. I always enjoy speaking with guests that travel from other countries to Cape Cod. It is funny that you mentioned the frying pan because just last month, I replaced the frying pan because the one that was there got scratched over the summer and I did not think it looked right. It was a large item so it was stored in the drawer under the stove with some other bulky items like a pizza pan and a cookie sheet. It is still there and it looks like it has not yet been used by anyone. Perhaps you did not know that drawer was there. There was also a set of four stainless mixing bowls that nest inside each other. They were on the top shelf in one of the lower cabinets where most of the pans are stored. The squeak or noise you described has been fixed. Thanks for mentioning that! It was actually not a spring in the mattress. It was the wooden center support post under the bed that had come loose. The bed frame was rubbing against it causing the squeak. This was much like when wooden floor boards rub against each other and cause a squeaky floor when you walk on it. I reattached the center support post and now the squeak is gone. Thanks again for renting this year and making Maushop Village part of your journey through New England.
