The Old Post Office has been transformed into a modern, very spacious 3 bedroom house, sleeping 1 - 8 people (see Notes in Rates section for parties over 6 people)

The lounge could sleep extra people if required. There is full central heating and parking for two cars at the side of the house. The tariff includes gas, electric, bed linen and towels. No smoking. Pets by arrangement. Baby items in cottage include high chair, travel cot (including sheets and covers.)

The house was/is very spacious and comfortable with fantastic views. Mobile signal not great in this part of the world which made the week even better!

Spotted dolphins off the harbour at about 7pm last night-fantastic!

Excellent location, enough space for a family of eight, well maintained, very helpful house keeper

We were a family of 8 (five adults and 3 children), the location was excellent with views of the sea from the lounge and kitchen. Good bathroom with 2 shower rooms. Beddings and other facilities were comfortable. Close to local supermarkets. Check in was easy with no hassles.

Love this home.

Love this cottage Very homely, comfy everything you could ask for clean , Beautiful views of the harbour, lots of room , 5 of us on the Saturday night and plenty room, warm cosy home I could easily stay here and not go anywhere else, we love it here, owner extremely helpful and quick response if needed, looking forward to going back at some point

We were told to ring the maintenance woman to gain access to the property but she did not answer either of the numbers provided over a period of 2 days. We arrived to find the front door locked but luckily a neighbour assisted us by taking us to a rear door which was unlocked and he showed us where the key was kept. Apparently it has happened before and he has had to assist other people.

We found that no linen had been laid out for us so we had to find it ourselves in the cupboards.

We also found paper floating in the upstairs toilet and internal bins not emptied.

The property itself is quaint and quirky with lovely views of harbour. The neighbours and people of the village were really lovely and made the rest of our stay a joy.

But I would not recommend this property due to the poor way in which we had to gain entry and poor maintenance.

The Old Post Office is situated at the harbour in Portknockie, which is an old fishing village on the coast of the Moray Firth. The area around the harbour is a conservation area and features traditional houses in North-South rows. Portknockie was voted 'Best Kept Village' several times in recent years in the 'Scotland in Bloom' competition.

• The village is ideal for cyclists and walkers who can enjoy the coastal walks along the Moray Firth and may be lucky to see the Bottlenose Dolphins. The famous Bow-Fiddle Rock, a wave-cut natural arch often teeming with Gulls and Cormorants, is a short walk from the cottage.

• All around Portknockie you will find various Whisky Trails and Castles to explore, as well as the Marine Aquarium at Macduff, the Scottish Tartan museum in Keith and the world famous Baxter's of Speyside.

• For those interested in golf, there are a number of very good courses nearby. Fishing, sea angling, scuba diving and sailing are all available nearby.

• Amenities within Portknockie include, 2 local hotels, grocers, newsagent, pharmacy, fish and chip shop, and not forgetting the children's sea paddling pool by the harbour.
