The attraction of the Katama area is the beach, the smell of the ocean and the feeling of a true Island vacation.Nearby Edgartown Village with its historic buildings and whaling captains' homes, the harbor (where Jaws was filmed!) , Fuller Street Beach and the walkability of all. The perfect fit for a family or a romantic get-away.
Spacious, bright, clean contemporary Cape on 1 1/2 acres - lots of bunnies visit the large mowed yard - less ticks with the mowed yard! Furnished with antiques and cozy contemporary furniture. Cathedral ceiling in living room with large skylight and ceiling fan. Enjoy dining on the screened-in porch or wrap-around deck. Location is extremely private near the biking & hiking path. The large outdoor shower is especially nice under the stars. Bikes, outdoor charcoal & propane grill, patio & beach furniture, and children's equipment is supplied.
We have added to our supply of baby/toddler furniture and our supply of children's bikes and toys. Our large mowed yard is excellent to play in!
Our family of six, parents and four children are from NW Connecticut. We live on Bantam Lake, the largest natural lake in Ct. We wanted pink and green gold for our wedding bands and found Cheryl Stark on the Vineyard could make then for us and that was our first exposure to the VY. We rented until we could afford to purchase our own home with partners, mother and brother -in-law. Eventually we were able to buy them out and have been going to our own house since 1984.
Diane Lauretano - owner purchased this house in 1984
This property is very secluded on a private dirt road, yet close to the town of Edgartown and the beach. Our children, as they grew, were able to go to town by walking, roller skating or biking. We felt very safe on the VY. We have a large yard - 1.1 acres!) a large part of which is mowed where all can play or do lawn games. We like to identify the numerous birds in the yard.
Our house had just been built and was perfect for our growing family. We loved the privacy and we were also a couple of minutes to the walking/bike path. My husband likes to run to the beach in the early morning. We love the brightness of the interior due to facing south and the skylights. We removed all wall-to-wall carpeting downstairs so it is dust-mite free. We have tile, bamboo floors. The water has just been tested and the results for our well water were excellent. Results given upon request. We are adding on this winter and will have 4 bedrooms and 31/2 baths. There will be two master suites.
Our family has stayed in this house every summer since 2012, so it has become a tradition. If you are looking for a clean, airy, and spacious house in a private location, this is it. Whether it is cooking meals in a fully-equipped kitchen and then enjoying them on the screened-in porch, biking to a beach, taking outdoor showers after a dip in the ocean, playing a pick-up soccer game on the perfectly maintained lawn, taking a walk to a local farm, streaming movies, gazing at the stars on the deck, or driving to Edgartown in five minutes- life is good at Adams Way! To top it off, Diane, the owner, is responsible and responsive; over the years she has been a delight to communicate with. We are looking forward to our fifth summer vacation there.
We spent 4 nights in this lovely house and we are really looking forward to come back.
The position is perfect: peaceful, with maximum privacy, but walking distance from Edgartown and Katama. Restaurants and stores are available in less than a couple of miles.
The house is comfortable, sunny, with a nice garden. It is super clean, and we really appreciated that being with a 10 months baby. We enjoyed the outside patio and the BBQ.
Diane, the owner, has been very nice with us. She responded timely to every request and gave us a lot of tips.
My family and I had a wonderful time in this very private, clean house. Autumn is a colorful time to be on the Vineyard. There are fewer crowds and the weather is still warm. The house has all the comforts of home: well-equipped kitchen with microwave, cable TV and DVD player, WiFi, washer and dryer, enclosed porch, deck and ample parking. The location is perfect between Edgartown and South Beach. It is an easy bike ride to the shops and restaurants as well as to the beach. Morning Glory Farm's fabulous market is just a 5 minute drive. Our family has stayed here for several years and just loves it. We look forward to going again next year.
Very close to the 2015 HGTV Dream House!!!!
