|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
Standing proud on our romantic Poldark coastline, Seal Point Villa (aka Tavis Vor) is a unique, spacious waterfront house on the edge of the historic village of Mousehole, recently featured in 'Homes by the Sea'. It 'gives kindly' to all its guests, however large (up to 12) or small the party (2-6).
Come and create those magical Cornish memories, that so many of us cherish from childhood: Easter with the spring-time flowers and beach surprises, Summer on the sands and in the water or a fabulous old-fashioned musical Christmas with the famous Mousehole Christmas Lights.

'Really it's a luxury to have so much space just to the four of us, but we sometimes we like to come in the off season without everyone else. We love the ever-changing views at Seal Point - it's so relaxing', Jim and Sandra, 2014
Space to Relax:
So whether you’re a family of 4 or 6 looking or a larger family group of up to 12, Seal Point is a seaside home from home. Large rooms and hallways and a separate attic flat sleeping up to four mean everyone can enjoy being together but also have their own space to relax.
Different Needs and ‘Must Haves’:
With sea views from 4 out of 5 bedrooms and the lounge, dining room and kitchen, with large comfortable beds, four bathrooms (plus a downstairs wc and warm outside shower), parking, wifi, a safe garden, toys and books on hand, coffee machine…we hope the different members of any party will find their needs met. We are fussy ourselves when we go away, so know how important the different elements can be. If you’re the one booking, meeting all the needs can be a tough job - please do not hesitate to ask any specific questions to make sure it’s a fit.
Seal Point has been our much loved family home which is now prepared and let while we are away. Many bookings happen now by word of mouth but we also advertise here. A professional changeover team manages the house and my mother lives nearby to welcome and help with queries.
Our prices are quoted for 6 people sharing with additional charges for extra people up to 12. Please enquire and if possible give the constellation of your party (eg couples, singles etc). Thank you
Relaxation or Activity:
So..what's it like to live here? Sip Nespresso and munch cream teas on the terrace while the children play on the climbing fort in the large gated garden. Watch sea birds, seals, old luggers and sometimes dolphins from the living room.
The garden has private access to the sea 40 metres away and you can then walk 3-5 minutes to the fine restaurants, cafes and galleries of 500 year old Mousehole and the sandy beaches of the small harbour which is perfect for swimming with children. Older children and teens love the water fun in the harbour and can play there in relative independence.
Being so close to the clean sandy harbour beaches, it's perfect for bright young sparks to go to the beach while others enjoy a lazy breakfast on the terrace or indeed for tired little ones to come home for naps while older siblings play for hours in the safe waters. Mousehole harbour is one of the few places where you can mess about in inflatables in relative safety (always supervise, of course).
Golf courses with sea views are 15-20 minutes' drive away at St Just and Praa Sands.
By car or bus, you can discover the Minack Theatre, many other beaches including Sennen, Praa Sands, Porthcurno, Chapelporth, Peranuthnoe, St Ives, St Michael's Mount etc all 3-10 miles away. On foot we have the famous cliff paths, all the way to Land's End and beyond. For relaxation book our excellent mobile masseuse at £40-55 for 60-90 mins
'This is a house like no other. It’s like being on an island but with civilization just yards away. The garden is so relaxing with children and inside there are plenty of toys and books. And oh, waking up to those views!' Sam and Jim, August 2012
Shops, transport, distances: Mousehole is 3 miles from Penzance and 1.5 miles from the fishing village of Penzance. You can walk (or scooter!) to Newlyn along the coastal path in 30 minutes and Penzance in an hour. Bikes can be hired in Pz.
Mousehole has 4 restaurants, 3 cafes, 2 ice cream shops, a fish and chip shop, the pub The Ship, a much-loved Deli, a grocery shop with fresh bread, numerous galleries and all the charm of the storybooks.
In Newlyn you'll find a small supermarket, fresh fish shops - minutes from the trawlers (including the largest privately owned fleet in UK), 2 bakers, a butchers, cafes, home-made ice-cream etc. The harbour also provides the most suitable moorings for yachts, from £12+ a night depending on length.
In Penzance, 10 minutes by car from Mousehole you've all the shops, cinema etc you'd expect in a town of 20,000.
We are a husband and wife team. We love sharing the best of the West with guests.
Please do let us know if you'd like to chat on the 'phone to ask questions either about the house or the area. We have sadly stopped posting our phone number on the website due to nuisance calls but we love to talk to prospective guests and can arrange this via email for a quick call back.

We love to watch the sea life - feathered and finned and so being 50 metres from it is perfect for us.
Really it's the combination of: seafront, private access to the sea, Wifi, parking, views from nearly all the rooms, safe garden, toys, books, large comfy beds, water sports or relaxation watching the stunning seascape, the wildlife....Something for everyone, whatever their age.
The end of a wonderful week here! The weather has been changeable but that has made the view from all the windows over the sea even better, as different every day. Storms and then beautifully sunny! We have done some great walking and loved the space for all our family to get together! Hope to return.
We found Seal Point to be to a high standard in every way. It was comfortable and spacious yet cozy. The owners were helpful and left very good and detailed information on how to use everything and also about the surrounding area. The views from the house are breathtaking and the village of Mousehole itself charming. Can't say enough about our trip there!
A return visit, after staying in this lovely, comfortable house last year. We (just 2 of us) stayed longer this time and were able to divide our days between sightseeing and just relaxing and enjoying the views from this prime location, overlooking the sea.
We had a lovely meal in The Falmouth Packet Inn at Rosudgeon, which is not much to look at from the front but has a conservatory and beer garden at the back, and very good food. You need to allow lots of time, as the meals are cooked to order. Trebah Gardens are worth a visit, and there is a private beach with lovely views at the bottom of the gardens. For nearby sandy beaches try Porthcurno, Sennen, Praa Sands and Perranuthnoe. The latter has a little crafts centre and cafe, and the Cowhouse Gallery there caters for all pockets with a wide variety of local crafts. A return visit to the Penlee Art Gallery, which is such an interesting small gallery and museum and, during September at least, you don't have to peer over umpteen heads to get a glimpse of the impressive and moving works of the Newlyn artists. However, even at this time of year many of the minor roads were still very busy (perhaps the Poldark and Pilcher effects) with not many lay-bys for admiring the views.
Our best times were definitely spent at the house - watching the seals, dolphins, fishing-boats, wandering into Mousehole, walking to Newlyn, or sitting in the Rock Pool Cafe next door, eating crab sandwiches or enjoying a cocktail. Esme and Rob have created a beautiful and comfortable home, which lacks for nothing, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody.
We were four couples who enjoyed the privacy of the house and its interiors.
It gave us an opportunity to get together under one roof around the clock in an homely atmosphere.
It was a good base for our activities during the day.
We got what we came for and much more.
We stayed at Seal Point Villa for a special family birthday at the beginning of September. The location was absolutely perfect, with the sea at the bottom of the garden, and the village and harbour such a short walk away. The house itself was ideal - spacious, but with a lovely homely feel to it. The owners Esme and Rob were extremely helpful with any queries we had and made us feel so welcome in their beautiful home. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 4 children, aged 3 to 10. The older children spent a lot of time in the sea, the rock pool and jumping into Mousehole harbour, and the little ones loved the garden (the play fort especially!) and paddling in the sea. We took two kayaks, which were very well used, some fishing rods and lobster pots. We caught several edible crabs by dropping the pots from the rocks just at the bottom of the garden, some mackerel, and some very large pollock (from the kayaks). With these we managed to make some lovely meals. Overall we had the most perfect and memorable holiday. We can't wait to return to the house in the future. Do not hesitate to book this place, it is second to none.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay in a fantastic location!
With 3 children aged 13, 9 and 6 it can be a busy household (!), but we all felt we had a fantastic amount of scope and space to relax to ourselves as well as areas to congregate for a family film evening or seal spotting from the breakfast table :-)
We could walk to the harbour within a few minutes to enjoy the dinghy, go crab and mackerel fishing or enjoy a stroll for dinner in the evening. The Mousehole Male Voice Choir was fantastic and the impromptu performance outside the Ship Inn was a special treat.
The 2 allocated parking spaces were a real pro for unloading cars after a day out and for loading up at the end of the stay. This really comes into its own when you are a large party who don't travel light!
The garden was a lovely space for the children to let off some steam and the view was second to none. The first coffee of the day was often consumed in the garden looking at the boats sailing by ...
What I loved too was the fantastic laundry room - I might even be placing an order for the same washing machine as I loved it so much!
Rob and Esme were on hand if we had any queries which was reassuring and if we needed some advice on activities.
I would strongly suggest booking your evening meal well in advance as we were caught out on one occasion leaving it too late as there are only a few places to eat out in the evening. Fantastic food and staff @ The Old Coastguard and 2 Fore St. The Ship's food quality was much better if you catch them on a quieter lunch time otherwise it was only satisfactory - fresh fish goujons were a real hit!
.. Saying that though, you have all the necessary space and equipment to cater for yourselves in the lovely kitchen and the dining area was one of my favourite spots given the view ....
All the children had their own spaces to 'chillax' after a busy day which I think we all appreciated. Our trip to the Minack was fabulous and we would also recommend the Telegraph Museum @ Porthcurno only a short drive away. Lovely welcoming staff and an informative place with interactive exhibitions to keep everyone engaged.
In summary a little pricier than we normally pay for accommodation for 5 of us, but we felt it was well worth it and found it really hard to leave. We had a week of quality family time in a picturesque, relaxing, unspoilt corner of Cornwall which we will treasure.
We spent a week in this beautiful house enjoying Mousehole and the surrounding area. We were a party of grandparents, parents, two teenagers and two toddlers (aged 3 & 1). The house is clean, spacious and very well equipped with a great open plan kitchen/lounge/dining area which is perfect for families. The bedrooms are large bright and airy and the beds really comfortable. Our teenage girls loved having the top floor space to themselves. The babies could run around safely as there are good quality safety gates etc.
There are toys, books and games galore. A real treat is the large, beautifully kept garden that provides a safe area for kids to play and wonderful place to eat / barbecue with truly amazing views of the sea from all angles.
The owners have paid great attention to details that make your stay just that bit more special. For example fresh flowers, a lovely welcome basket and lots of really useful information about the area.
All in all we cannot recommend Seal Point more highly - it was perfect and we were all sad to tear ourselves away from its spell.
West Cornwall is a paradise that many remember fondly from their childhood. There really is something for everyone with long wide beaches, historic villages, folklore, cliff side theatre, artists galore, swimming, diving, sailing, snorkelling, windsurfing, sea birds and wildlife not to mention all those cream teas and Cornish pasties.
Golf: Praa Sands and Cape Cornwall are 15 minutes drive away. Wonderful courses with spectacular views.
Sailing and boating: Mounts Bay is perfect for gentle sailing and exploring the coves towards Landsend. It's also a haven for windsurfing and kite surfing closer to St Michaels Mount.
