Our group consisted of me, my husband, our two boys (1.5 and 3), my parents and my sister. We really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was a little more compact than I envisioned from the pictures, but we had plenty of space - our family of four slept in the master bedroom (which also had a cot), my parents in the green guest room, and my sister on the couch. We were all comfortable. My father loved the balcony (he smokes) and spent many hours out there with a book or his laptop.
The apartment was fun and colorful. We were greeted with a lovely homemade apple pie. The owners also arranged a taxi with child safety seats to pick us up, and also made reservations at the Galleria Borghese for us 6 weeks before our stay (as we knew we would be paying by Roma Pass and so couldn't do it online). Thank you!!
The location was nice - not particularly picturesque (I was a little surprised when the cab dropped us off next to what seemed like a strip mall with a tobacco shop in it) but pleasant, and there are restaurants and stores (and a supermarket) within walking distance. The Valle Aurelia metro stop is a 5 minute walk, which makes the rest of Rome VERY accessible. We never walked to the Vatican itself (Google directions said it was a 20 minute walk to St. Peter's, which is a bit more difficult with young kids) but it was only 2 Metro Stops away. Internet and AC all worked wonderfully.
We only had a few minor complaints:
1)The bathroom tub leaked, and the shower barrier was not very secure or well sealed. Taking a shower often resulted in soaking bathroom. Also, with so many of us, we had some hot water issues.
2)The kitchen was a little bit run down - several drawers/cabinets were missing handles, and the counter had some stains on it. This didn't stop us from making several tasty meals, and everything was fully functional.
3)We had asked the owners to also book us a cab to pick us up the morning we left. We confirmed this the day before. However, the cab never showed up, and after a half hour, we had to run (with luggage and young children) to the Metro so we could get to Termini and take the express train instead. When I emailed them to ask what happened, I got no reply (although they had previously been very responsive to all other questions we'd had before and during the stay).
Nice roomy apartment. Clean with nice size kitchen. We loved the location which was close to the Metro but not right in the middle of the city. Washer was great. Good place to stay!!!
This apartment was perfect for me and my family. We were in 8 and had enough space in this big flat. Thanks to the perfect location of Insula Vaticana that we managed to see a lot of places even we just stayed two days in Rome.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable and we found everything we needed. We had a wonderful stay at Insula Vaticana and we hope to visit Rome again and we will stay another time at this beautiful place.
We've just come home from a month in Europe and the 9 days we spent in this apartment were by far our most comfortable. It is light filled and spacious, everything you might need is provided, the air conditioning was a huge bonus in the month of July, and the owners were wonderfully kind and helpful. It is not close the main attractions, but it certainly is close enough to the Metro to make all things accessible. It was actually quite nice to get away from the summer crowds and come back to a neighborhood of locals with good restaurants and great gelato every night for dinner. Highly recommended!
This spacious and light-filled apartment was a perfect choice for a 9 day stay in Rome with my husband and two sons. The owners were an absolute delight and made our stay just wonderful. The apartment is not close to the main attractions, but close enough to the metro station where all things can be accessed easily. It was actually quite nice to get away from the huge crowds every evening and come back to our local neighborhood for a quiet dinner and awesome gelato just down the street from the apartment. Highly recommended.
We are group of 5 and stay here for a week. This apartment is in a very good location, safe and quite. The apartment has everything you need. Owner is very nice and helpful. Trust us and nice. Wifi speed is fast. We have a very pleasant stay here!
Plus, my mom said coffee is so good!
