Drummer Cove, Delightful Destination!
Growing up in Massachusetts, this Washingtonian lives for her Cape Cod holiday! We’ve been renting in Wellfleet for the past eight years and have never found a place to which we’d return...until our stay at Frank’s cottage at Drummer Cove. The cottage itself is perfect for two (plus a dog). It has all the basic necessities of home. The air conditioning is a must these days, still the wonderful vintage windows and “Madawaska #2 Maine Spruce” gave the cottage a throwback feel to simpler times. We found it a quiet and comfortable place to hang out in the evenings and the location can’t be beat! The cottage is a mile run to Lecount Hollow, and close to PB Boulangerie, Marconi and PJ’s. The owner is extremely kind and responsive. We will return to Drummer Cove!
The real thing _an authentic Cottage.
A/C is a luxury we never had in our cottage. We did not have a decorator either! When we walked in the door we said WOW,. and kept pointing out features and cleaver use of space all week....we hated to leave
It is so nice to have someone express appreciation for the look and feel of my cottage. Thank you for your comments. I continue to make improvements to both the inside and outside of my cottage. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay.
Wonderful Drummer Cove
What a wonderful way to spend a weeks vacation! This lovely cottage is located in a little community of cottages and is a few minute walk to two of the best bakeries on the Cape, PB Boulangerie and The Blue Willow Bakery! An early morning walk to either for great coffee and pastry or breakfast sandwich is a must! Right next door is the General Store which has everything, even fruit and produce from the area! And next to that is a bike rental because the bike trail begins at the end of the lane! All within walking distance! Wellfleet center is just a quick drive where you can take in the Saturday evening Gallery stroll or taste a variety of food in the various restaurants or walk across Uncle Tim's Bridge! Even though the cottage is just off route 6, the sound of traffic is not invasive and diminishes during the night. This is a small cottage, great for a couple. It is covered in warm knotty pine with windows that open and hook up like a sailing vessel! The owner is amiable and has provided everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. It isn't close to a beach so you need to get a beach pass or ride your bikes to nearby beaches. I highly recommend this cottage!
Perfect cottage for beach vacation
We've been renting this lovely Wellfleet cottage every summer or early fall since 2004, and it's one of the best finds we've ever had. The perfect spot for a couple or small family who wants a beach vacation at a nice place with a full kitchen, it's clean, comfortable, and well- maintained, with excellent amenities (nice flowers and garden outside, WiFi, cable TV, AC, a small outdoor grill). It's conveniently right off Rte 6, minutes by car to beautiful local beaches and to town center), but still tucked away in the woods next to Drummers Cove enough that you don't hear noise from the main road. Frank Hopp, the owner, has been a pleasure to deal with, too. We love his Drummers Cove cottage and can't wait to go back.
cute cozy cottage
Very clean cute cottage, but quite small. Can accomodate 1-2 people fairly comfortably. Kitchen sufficient and modern with everything that one needs; bathroom is small with only a shower, but quite clean and modern; one air conditioner cools the space; cozy place off Route 6 (a busy highway), but not noisy.
clean, comfortable, quaint
Cute, clean, well-maintained little cabin with all the basic ammenities, including high-speed internet (yay!). Dog friendly! It does in fact sleep four, but don't be fooled, it's very small quarters. Good thing there's so much to do in Wellfleet -- bay side beaches, oceanside, walks, shopping, Provincetown, etc. The one downside I could find is that the cabin is relatively close to Route 6, which can be rather loud.
The Cottage is located on Drummer Cove in the charming historic Town of Wellfleet which is noted for its excellent art galleries (browsing welcome), shops, restaurants, and the highly acclaimed WHAT (Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater). Wellfleet has the only town clock in the world that strikes on ships time, two bells, four bells, etc. The cottage is about one mile from Marconi Beach in the Cape Cod National Seashore (ocean swimming) and close to the fresh water ponds and bay beaches of Wellfleet. The 30 mile long Cape Cod Rail Trail (paved bike trail) is just a short bike ride away. The cottage is immediately adjacent to the Drummer Cove Conservation Area and about two miles from the Mass. Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Provincetown is only 20 minutes away by car, or save the parking hassle in P-town and take the bus which stops very nearby.
