Siasconset House Rental Photos and Description

- 4 bedrooms, 2 & 1/2 baths, outdoor shower, sleeps 7

This house was a featured exhibit in the Nantucket Historical Association's 'Sconset Village. Hedges protect a bright, remodeled, 19th Century barn with a front lawn, gardens, and southern exposure. It's just a 2-minute walk to the ocean beach. The village includes a post office, 3 excellent restaurants, a sandwich shop, a grocery, and a liquor store. It's only one mile to a 100-year-old, 9-hole golf course and eight miles to the whaling town, with museums, galleries, shops and superb restaurants. A bicycle suffices for daytime transport; a shuttle bus serves the town & villages. The home sleeps 7 and includes a full bath, two half-baths and an outdoor shower.

Suitability:
  • children welcome
  • non smoking only
  • pets not allowed

Guestbook comments from the owner

Betsyann and Bob,We loved your home and had a wonderful vacation week in Nantucket. My wife and my oldest son believe they heard your ghost on two occassions. I thought he was quiet! He woke them up with loud banging sounds. Fortunately I slept through it! I hope we have the opportunity to rent your lovely home again. Dan McLaughlin

Wonderful Stay at Srail

  • 5 of 5

For once a beach rental that actually looks better than the pictures. This house is adorable, clean, very well stocked, and well located. Quick walk to the store, the beach, restaurants, and the shuttle bus to town. They yard is private and perfect for a BBQ, and there's a great outdoor shower. Sconset of course is one of the most beautiful spots in the country and if and when I return, I will be sure to rent this place again.

Great vacation home in unbelievable location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our three kids had a great stay at SRAIL, a great vacation home in an unbelievable location right in the heart of Sconset. The location is perfect...walk to beach, steps to shops, restaurants, and bus to Nantucket town, near the bike path, etc. The house itself has great history and character, and is well kept up with everything we needed for our family vacation. Beautiful Sconset beach, complete with lifeguard, is a five minute walk away. Each day we came home to a hot outdoor shower, which was terrific! The yard is outstanding, especially given the in-town location. We grilled out almost every night and then walked to get ice cream. Overall, we had a very relaxing vacation and were very happy with our choice of where to stay. Betsyann and Bob are very responsive and nice people! We highly recommend SRAIL.

A relaxing week

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful week staying at Srail. Bob and Betsy are very easy to work with and their house is very comfortable. Plus it is well stocked with all the necessitaties which is great! The outside area is nice and private. Perfect for young kids to safely run around while the adults relax. Love the Friday to Friday rental too! Much easier for traveling and ferry.

Summer in Sconset

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time during our stay at SRAIL, the house had everything we needed and is perfectly located.

The beach is barely 100 yards away, there's access to the private tennis club across the street from 1-3 daily and the house has a great front yard ideal for barbecuing. The grocery and liquor store are just down the street, there's a public golf course less than a mile away and the Sankaty lighthouse is a short walk by the beach.

Highly recommend a stay at SRAIL!

Sconset Rental

Dear Betsyann and Bob,

Our two week Nantucket stay was delightful! We arrived to find a clean, well organized home, just as it had been described. We loved being in town and the proximity to the beach. The outdoor shower was a great treat for all. Thanks for your assistance and good cheer.

Perfection in Sconset

  • 5 of 5

Dear Betsyann and Bob,

We had such a great time on Nantucket and being back at your house.

It was all as we remembered it—comfortable, charming and in the perfect location. It felt wonderful to get back in the routine of walking to the Sconset Market in the morning for blueberry muffins and the paper and then relaxing in the yard. Thanks for the new restaurant suggestions, too. We especially loved Millie's for sunset cocktails. We hope to be back next year!

The Atlantic Ocean beach is the key entertainment on this beautiful island, but its history is also extraordinary, it having been a major whaling port in the 19th Century. Many homes and business buildings date to that era. It's also an artists' colony and a splendid place to sail and fish. It's got many tennis courts, two public golf courses, and miles of cycling trails. Just walking in the village and breathing the ocean air can suffice.

Other Activities: museums (whaling), library (ship's logs), sky observatory, bird watching, shell-fishing.

It has splendid restaurants featuring, of course, sea food and fine wines.

Notes:
Also enjoy: antique furniture, eclectic library, interesting history or lore in a marked binder. The house, Srail, was previously a club where locals and visitors told tall tales. It was famous as such and is (or was) a featured exhibit at the Nantucket Historical Society. If the exhibit is still up, it's worth the trip to town to enjoy not only the history of 'Sconset, but also the history of this house itself, including members of the club and their antics.
