Galmpton Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Charming cottage to sleep 4 located in the creekside village of Galmpton

**We offer Short Break stays in off-peak periods throughout the year, so please feel free to enquire for information about our 'Less than 7 night' tariffs.**

Providing a picturesque holiday scene in which to relax and explore, with all the famous visitor attractions and charms of Devon right on the doorstep, this period farmhouse cottage offers the perfect haven to suit all guests - in all seasons!

The charming 250 year old farmhouse is known as 1 of the 7 historical village houses which originally made up Galmpton, and today its romantic period features have been carefully retained and enhanced, with a generous dose of modern-day comfort and luxury touches provided inside, to make family, friends and even pets feel at home!

The idyllic semi-detached cottage nestles in a sunny country garden plot overlooking the village and surrounding fields; to offer the perfect tranquil self-catering break away from all the hustle and bustle.

On arrival at the property guests pass through a pretty gate and along a country garden-style gravel path to the holiday cottage’s entrance; which leads straight into the heart of the home; the kitchen.

Inside guests will find a cosy and welcoming retreat spread across two floors, with a charming living room complemented by a separate dining room and a separate fully-equipped kitchen, alongside 2 bedrooms upstairs perfect for accommodating families and groups of up to 4.

Guests can easily unwind and enjoy each other’s company on the sofas in the living room, in front of an ambient roaring fire, or can simply sit back with a good book and enjoy the pretty garden views. Many original features including wooden flooring and shutters have been retained here and a LCD digital TV with DVD player, HiFi system and WiFi access also feature; to keep everybody in touch with the modern world! A basket of logs, games and films are also attentively provided in the autumn and winter seasons, for an even cosier time together.

The practical and fully-equipped kitchen is ideal for home-cooking, with all the desired appliances provided, including an electric hob, oven, microwave, fridge and also a washing machine.

Guests can conveniently access the garden from the kitchen as well as the separate lower-level dining room, which offers four place settings, alongside a charming window seat with picturesque garden views to enjoy.

A flight of stairs from the living room leads to the charming and beautifully presented first floor sleeping accommodation.

The luxury master bedroom provides a restful and exclusive retreat for couples and oozes charm and romance, from its beautiful beamed ceiling and antique mahogany four-posted bed to its elegant furnishings, exposed wooden flooring and delightful garden views.

The stylish second bedroom is furnished with twin single beds and is ideal for sleeping additional guests. Both bedrooms enjoy charming garden view window seats, are fitted with state-of-the-art wall mounted TV’s and also offer WiFi access. Sky TV channels may further be enjoyed from the master bedroom.

For guest’s convenience and comfort, a newly-fitted Jack n’ Jill style shower bathroom is ideally situated between the master double bedroom and twin bedroom. The beautiful property also features a second contemporary shower room next to the kitchen downstairs, to easily meet the demands of groups and families staying here.

Outside the sunny walled cottage garden comprises two sweeping terraced landscaped lawns and provides a beautiful haven in which to have fun and enjoy memorable meals in the sunshine, with a BBQ and dining furniture provided.

**Please Note: the NEW HomeAway nightly pricing & tariff calculator displayed to the right, calculates nightly rates by taking the weekly tariff rate and dividing it by 7. This nightly rate is misrepresented, as it does not take into account Short Break Percentages explained in the Tariff Notes section below. Sadly we have no control over this new trend towards nightly 'hotel-style' pricing so please get in touch and we will be happy to help you further.**

The views of surrounding fields are just beautiful from here, and guests may even get the chance to enjoy the views alongside the neighbouring Llama and horses!

Parking can conveniently be found just behind the farmhouse cottage, along the quiet lane.

Guests of all ages and interests are spoilt for choice for things to do in this idyllic part of Devon; with a great range of beaches, surfing and fishing spots, famous visitor attractions, picturesque resort towns, the Shaldon Approach & Churston Golf courses and the popular National Trust Greenway Walk plus the South West Coastal Path which overlooks Galmpton Creek, are all located within reach of the farmhouse cottage.

Agatha Christie’s Greenway House and Gardens, now run by the National Trust and open to visitors, is situated just an enviable stroll away from the holiday cottage, just 1.6 miles away; making it a must for any holiday itinerary here!

Riverboat cruises along the River Dart and taking a ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway are also must-have visitor experiences to enjoy – with breathtakingly-classic English Riviera scenery you will never forget!

The popular seaside resort of Torquay, with its vibrant marina, Aquatic Sea-Life centre and vibrant night life can also be reached in just 16 minutes by car from Galmpton, making this holiday cottage extremely accessible for reaching all of Devon’s most-treasured delights!

South Devon has a coastline of spectacular rugged cliffs and headlands, interspersed with lower-lying areas, sandy beaches and the five distinctive ria river estuaries of the Dart, Avon, Yealm, Erme and Salcombe.

The coastal scenery also includes reed beds, sand dunes, shingle ridges, mud flats, salt marshes, and the freshwater lake of Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve. This variety provides habitat for a diverse range of wildlife. The South West Coast Path National Trail running along the whole stretch of heritage coast, provides access to spectacular scenery, long views across bays and the English Channel, interesting beaches, and a scattering of coastal villages & historic towns such as Salcombe & Dartmouth.

Review from Paul, Melissa & Bethany-Rebekah & Bailey (The cocker spaniel): "We have enjoyed a very welcoming & comfortable stay. The cottage came with everything we could possibly need. Bailey especially enjoyed our walks on the beach x".
