This is my home away from home so I take care of the property and enjoy renting to folks who take care as well. I am pleased to have several repeat renters each year...
People really seem to enjoy themselves in this house. I receive many personal notes in the mail each year telling me just how much...
The house is close to town, the beach and the bike path. In addition it is off the beaten track... if you take a sand road you can by-pass the traffic and navigate an easier up-island trip...important in the high season. Also, it is very near Morning Glory Farm ;-)
We invite you to enjoy our home... it is a lovely and peaceful place and our guests seem to thoroughly enjoy themselves there. We have received many, many happy and positive notes in the mail, as well as comments in our home guestbook. These comments make it all the more worthwhile for us to continue to offer our home while you enjoy beautiful Martha's Vineyard. Once you have stayed with us, we hope that you will return to this site and enter a comment here.Regards, Maryann
I was there with four 19 year old boys. We had a great time. The house was very relaxing, clean and efficient. It was a good value. The size was about right. Neighborhood was likewise wonderful with easy access to the bike path, beach and Edgartown. Only problem I had was getting my deposit back from the owner. I am sure the house was rented for several weeks after we used it, so I could not see the logic of the delay especially since my deposit had to get to the landlord promptly before we could move forward with our vacation plans. It took about two months after we left to get my deposit back, and it had to be sent to my sister's who I was visiting in Colorado. In the confusion, the deposit got lost, but that was not the fault of the landlord. However, if I got the deposit in NJ before September, it would have been smoother. I would have no qualms about renting this house again, or taking it for a longer time on a monthly basis. I am sure the landlord would be leary in renting it to people with small children / young teenagers in terms of wear and tear. I have been to MV at least 12 times, and this house was one of the best values I've seen there.
We (2 parents and a college student) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. We picked mid-May to avoid the crowds and luckily the weather cooperated. The house has two nice open living room areas for hanging out, so families can spread out if folks need space. There were spots to keep our bikes under the back deck and we used them every day. The Vineyard is the best for biking! Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and South Beach are easy and fun destinations from here. We also enjoyed the birds visiting throughout the day.
The kitchen was well-stocked (dishes/pots/gadgets), the rooms clean and comfortable, and we appreciated the supply of paper goods. We used the laundry machines once and they worked well. There were a few beach chairs and lots of puzzles and board games as well as books, a stereo system and a TV. All great.
Our only issue came at midnight on our last night there. There is an automatic flushing of pipes under the kitchen floor that is noted on one of the posted lists, right under the emergency number. We read about it upon arrival but promptly forgot about it. It gave us quite a fright until we figured it out. As long as you know it will happen it's not a big deal.
We hope to make this a regular spring destination and would recommend this rental.
This is a very pleasant place to stay. Unfortunately for me the weather was not co-operative. However it is a pleasant place to just relax or a peaceful setting to get a work to-do list done. Everything seemed to work and there was WiFi and cable. I was able to walk and ride my bike when the weather permitted. I would visit here again.
My husband and I have been visiting the Island for over 7 years and this rental has to be our favorite. Loved the apple trees in the front yard. The house was very clean. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for cooking. Although it was just me and my husband, the house is big enough for a small family. Great location, just minutes from everything, will consider renting again.
Maryanne, the owner, provided a nice welcome packet with loads of island info and her contact info.
The property was the perfect size for our family of 5. Lots of natural light which I loved. The location was convenient. We took morning walks to the beach and into town. The outdoor shower is great.
This is a wonderful Vineyard house that keeps getting better every year - we've been going for four years. The location is fantastic as it is right in between South Beach and Edgartown center on very nice roads. The house is terrific with three comfortable bedrooms, a great open living room/kitchen/dining area, and a separate TV area upstairs. The setting is very private with great outdoor spaces and a fantastic outdoor shower. It's a lovely place!
What to expect when you get here! The Surroundings ...who your neighbor's are!
The Court Street area in the Katama section of Edgartown is a small neighborhood of contemporary homes carefully built into the natural landscape of the island. Pines, oaks, low-bushes and grasses provide a protective barrier between well-spaced homes.
The house is one mile from the Edgartown Great Pond, a large brackish body of water providing a calm, beautiful setting for walking, clamming, canoeing or small boating to secluded beaches.
Beautiful South Beach with its crashing waves and extensive beach is only one-mile away; an easy walk, run or bike-ride away.
The house is one mile from Edgartown, making it convenient to restaurants and shops, and the Edgartown harbor and lighthouse overlooking the Nantucket Sound and Chappaquiddick.
