Getaway to the Woods

  • 5 of 5

We have been going to this house for seven years now, and I am already looking forward to next year! The title of my post "Getaway in the Woods" is quite literal as you will find when arriving to the road, you will have to drive into a hole in the woods and up to this house.

It's quiet, private and in my mind perfect. You can relax inside by the Wood Stove, outside on the deck grilling, or by the fire pit with a cold one(which is the way I like to end my days there!). It's also perfect for setting out to other places in Vermont; just 20 minutes North is Wilmington. There you can pick up what you may need or drop into the small businesses. You are also pretty much in between Bennington and Brattleboro to the west and east, go further North and you find Mt Snow.

In closing, if you want to relax and to feel like your miles away from civilization, but also want the convenience of seeing what the Towns and landmarks that Vermont has to offer, then I see no other place better than this one. It's a Home in the woods and a launching point for the rest of Vermont. I can't say enough for this place, it will be worth your pennies and time!

Our Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I are from Center City Philadelphia and have vacationed at this cabin for the third year now. The cabin is rustic with all the privacy anyone could ask for. The cabin is well kept, clean, furnished well, and comes with plenty of firewood for both the fire pit and wood stove. The property covers an area of around 10 acres and is beautiful. Its only 25 minutes to Mt Snow for skiing and a beautiful lake is just 5 minutes away. For my wife and I there is not a more perfect place to visit to get away from the city.

Cozy, comfortable, remote

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to base out of during part of our honeymoon. There was ample sleeping room with very nice beds, a clean and bright living/dining room area, and comfortable seating throughout the house. The kitchen is the perfect size for cooking at home instead of eating out, and having a washer/dryer is a great bonus. The internet worked very well, which was nice when trying to research things to do in the area. Steve and Fern were great to work with- very timely in their communications and always kind. We would definitely stay here again!

Another great year, at my favorite getaway.

  • 5 of 5

Well, again this year, we decided to go back. We had such a lovely time last year. Steve has done a lot of work to the house, even since last year. A brand new, top of the line microwave. New flooring. He even put in all new mattresses. Just to add to the general comfort of the location. We arrived a bit early and actually met Steve this year. He is a very friendly and helpful person. There was road work being done and he was concerned we would have trouble finding the location and getting around. It was just as peaceful as it was the year before. Everything you could think of, was already provided. You only need to find yourself food. I stick with the statement I made last year. "I would live there, if I could" I told everyone when I came back. "When I go to heaven, I will get to live in that house" The price is more than reasonable and Steve seems like a fantastic person. Do not hesitate to spend your vacation as this charming location.

Simply amazing and I wish I could live there....

  • 5 of 5

This place was away from everything. It was very clean and pretty. We sat out at night, looking at the stars. This place has everything you need. I mean everything. I was surprised with all the amenities offered. Pots, pans. Dishwasher. You name it. I couldn't have been happier. Really, only the food itself was required. Even the charcoal grill worked very well. I myself love to take a nice hot shower. It isn't often that I actually have to watch how hot I make the water. The water was very hot. The bedrooms were cozy and comfortable. The downstairs was so open and fun. The house itself has a very pleasant smell to it. If I had the money to do so. I would buy the place now...and never leave. In my opinion it is the perfect place to have your Vermont vacation. Private and has everything you need to still be a part of the world as well. Do yourself the favor though and drive to Brattleboro Vermont for food. Price choppers was more than reasonable. I am going to try and stay here yearly. I love Steve and I love his house! If you stay at this location, you will not be disappointed.

Relaxing, Peaceful, and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The home and accommodations were perfect for us and just as advertised/pictured. Also, Steve is an absolute pleasure to work with and a gracious host. The cabin is set back, away from any neighbors and lights resulting in a GREAT night sky by the outdoor fire pit. Everything adds to the comfort of staying in this home including the wood burning stove, the on-demand hot water heater that provides great hot showers, the coaches, and the beds. The kitchen allows for multiple simultaneous cooks while still part of the social space. The home is very warm and rustic while the internet and satellite TV still make sure you are connected to the rest of the world ... if you want to be :)
