Mrs Brown grew up in Kent, so always wanted to return. As their boys started to move around and toddle, she knew it was time to move from London. Mr and Mrs Brown fell in love with the property and its location the moment they came down the drive.
Mrs Arabella Brown purchased this cottage in 2011
This fabulous, romantic, baby and pet friendly cottage has stunning views. Tucked away within woodland, this cottage, although rural, is only a short distance from 'civilisation'. It couldn't be more perfectly situated. A perfect get away for a 10 day break, or a long weekend. In summer, explore the countryside and finish off with a swim in the heated pool. In winter, enjoy long crisp walks and afterwards warm up in front of a log fire. Every evening take pleasure in watching the sun set over the hills.
'The view gets me every time. I could never tire of it.'
Truly an amazing property with stunning views in a very handy but quiet location. Very clean with quality linen and a very comfortable bed/s.The owners are super helpful, friendly and nice. We didn't want to leave!
We stayed at this beautiful cottage for nearly 4 months and really enjoyed our stay. Our host family were very friendly and helpful and the property is maintained to a high standard. It is kept very clean and is in a wonderful location. We couldn't recommend it enough and I hope you are lucky enough to spend some time there. Ideal for family use or romantic weekends away and placed in the heart of the countryside.
The cottage is nice and cozy, perfect for three people. It is very well-maintained, we had a very warm-hearted welcome. The heated pool and the cat which awaited him every morning were much appreciated by our kid. The setting is tranquil with wonderful views especially from the master bedroom across the valley, so perfect for relaxing. Nice sun trap on the terrace. The kitchen is well equipped and modern. All facilities were well maintained. Perfect for a small family or couple with a friend / granny.
We had a wonderful stay in this comfortable, lovely, tucked away cottage. What an amazing feeling driving down the forest road to reach the cottage. It feels like being miles and miles away from the city, but the location is very central for visiting the many great places in the Kent / East Sussex region. We loved the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, the Brighton Pier, Hastings Old Town / Harbour, Canterbury, Whitstable and Royal Tunbridge Wells is a nice town as well! We had lunch at the Opera House Pub, we loved the ambiance and the food was good.
The children loved Old Dundle's garden with it's tree swing and trampoline and loved playing with the youngest son of the friendly and efficient owners. The pool is nice as well!
We had a great stay and highly recommend Old Dundle Cottage!
Lovely, light and spacious cottage. Great views and outside space and the pool is large and warm. The table ware could do with an update, it does not match the high quality of the cottage. Long walks direct from the cottage are not possible, due to the narrow busy road, but the large grounds and adjoining forest make up for that. We ( family of 4 + dog) have had a very nice holiday in Old Dundle Cottage.
We booked this cottage for a 4 month stay sight unseen so really took a chance. The good news is we could not have been more pleased. While close to the main house the cottage is very private. The furnishings are tasteful & the upstairs master bedroom has a view across the fields and valley that money cannot buy. The dawn chorus was incredible. Arabella is a kind and attentive host, nothing was too much trouble. This truly is the best cottage in Kent, if not in all of England. Oh and did we mention the goosedown pillows & crisp white linen. This attention to detail says it all and more. Absolutely recommended for those seeking style, luxury, privacy and peace.
There are many National Trust properties and RHS gardens locally. The beach is only an hour away by car and London 40mins by train from Tonbridge. Yet Old Dundle Cottage is very rural.
