From an e-mail dated September 6, 2006"We had a beautiful two weeks of sunshine, fireworks, Illumination Night and Ag Fair."
My family had not vacationed on Martha's Vineyard in more than 20 years, so we were looking for a great house for a memorable trip. We needed space for seven adults and a dog, close to town but with enough privacy for our large group. This house fit the bill perfectly, and made our vacation an amazing week for all. The home is located in a corner wooded lot with plenty of trees and multiple outdoor seating areas. The inside of the home is roomy, with three bedrooms and a loft for sleeping and several rooms for large group gatherings. The home was cool in the mornings and evenings, which was a plus in the heat of August.
The home is located right off of a main road connecting Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven, which made getting around the island very easy. It is also right next to the bike path, which made for some great trips into town.
We arrived to a clean and well-maintained property that was obviously cared for, and which was true to the listing description. In the run-up to our arrival date, Paul - the owner - was very helpful in ensuring that we had everything we needed, providing instructions as to what items the house had (several bikes, washer/dryer, beach chairs) and what to bring.
This is a terrific house to come home to after a long day enjoying the island, and great for those nights when you just want to stay in and play a board game. It is a great place to stay, and I would recommend it to anyone, especially larger groups. We had an incredible family vacation on the island, and this home had a lot to do with that.
We enjoyed a great week staying at this house. The property is everything advertised and more.
We arrived to find the house clean and tidy. It was even larger than we had expected. The multi-tiered deck runs the entire length of the house. There are two good size bathrooms and a well stocked kitchen.
As I said, the place is huge. A large group could spread out between the 4 bedrooms, comfortable family room, den, dining room, 4 separate deck seating areas, and the large side yard, and no one would be lacking for room or privacy. The owner was attentive to us. We had minor appliance issues and the next morning his caretaker stopped in to repair the gas grill burner and drop off a brand new blender!
The location is centrally located between Vineyard Haven and Edgartown, and is mere yards away from a public transit stop. So it is very convenient.
My family had a great time staying here and we will definitely be renting again next year.
The house is very spacious with ample seating while maintaining a nice, open floor plan. The yard is the real attraction, however, with a wonderful meditation garden, relaxing fountain, and just the right amount of tree cover. There is also a great porch running the length of the back of the house, with plenty of additional seating/relaxation opportunities.
If you decide to leave the great property, it is less than 100 ft. away from a bus stop and major bike path. Short drive from Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs, and really anywhere else you need to go.
The house and everything else was great. We ran out of propane and were delivered a new tank less than 2 hours later. Highly recommended
This very clean, attractive, and comfortable home is well-located to Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven. The kitchen is well-stocked and there's lots of "living space." The outdoor spaces are also inviting and were thoughtfully designed. The master bedroom is spacious; the other bedrooms are small with twin beds, but adequate , and there are fans provided for all the bedrooms. The owner was prompt in responding to our questions and has provided a lovely vacation retreat for his guests.
We had a fabulous stay on Martha's Vineyard with your house as our comfortable base camp. Great location for us, with good access to bike path, grocery store, 3 towns centers of Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven a short drive away.
We were 2 families with a group of teen-agers and they were able to hop on bikes and ride to beaches and into Edgartown a few times. We did bring a car with us, and were very happy we did as it made it simpler and more economical to transport our group of 7 around, loading up with groceries, and for day trips to the beach.
We most enjoyed the private outdoor spaces of the house, including fountain and deck areas for morning coffee and reading. The sleeping arrangements worked great for our group, although a few mattresses need updating. The other surprising treat was the gas fireplace that was very nice on the one rainy and cool day we had. The house in general has not been greatly updated, could use some newer furnishings, but overall was comfortable and clean, and relaxing.
The owner Paul was very helpful and appreciative of feedback about our stay. We would definitely return to the house for another stay if we decide to return to the Vineyard. And we highly recommend a stop in to Bad Martha's Brew Pub for good beer and backgammon!
Centrally located, easy to get to Edgartown and OB. Beautiful gardens and deck space. Our family had a great time on MV. Great house to gather in and hang out. Professionally cleaned. Only constructive comment would be that some of the beds could use new mattresses and the kitchen supplies could use an update.
