Alison Thompson & Family
About Alison Thompson & Family
When I was a little girl growing up near Toronto, my parents brought me to Banff National Park. The memories of a pony ride at Lake Louise and a visit to the Columbia Icefields Glaciers still make me smile as I drive by these attractions (or do them with my own family!). In my parent's retirement years, we had the opportunity to jointly purchase this property (we are original owners) and rekindle our love of the West. I even had my son in the Canmore hospital so his birth certificate would forever more connect us all to this place. I'm an influencer in the renewable energy industry and spending time in the mountain wilderness helps keep me grounded in why I do the work that I do.
Alison Thompson & Family purchased this Condo in 2005
Why Alison Thompson & Family chose Canmore
The views. 'nuff said. (close to the Calgary airport and Banff National Park)
What makes this Condo unique
Spacious and limited adjoining walls to other units. Gives you a place to rest up before you launch yourself back into the mountains. This isn't a hotel room. This is a retreat. And it's our home too, which we hope you will enjoy.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
Fabulous holiday accommodation
Canmore is a great location for hiking and viewing this awesome scenery and returning to this apartment at the end of the day was a joy. Very comfortable and spacious, and a good size kitchen for preparing an evening meal. Thankyou.
Thank you. I love hearing that people use the kitchen after a busy day in the mountains. It is definitely something we look forward to as well when we stay in the condo, as it offers great views and comfortable dining without the hustle and bustle of a restaurant.
Just earlier today I prepared a box of some more staples to stock the kitchen with. I encourage our guests to make themselves at home and that includes making dessert and snacks! For dinner tonight in Calgary, we were entertaining a neighbour and I test drove a muffin tin he gave me by making Yorkshire puddings on our BBQ. I know I'll do this again in Canmore and hope someone else tries it too!
Spectacular view from this corner unit.
Owner provided detailed instructions for everything. Unit is walking distance to dining and shopping. Very convenient on and off to highway which leads to so many local attractions. Loved It!!
This property was perfect for our family! We enjoyed relaxing in the gorgeous condo after we’d spent the day hiking & exploring in Canmore & Banff. It was an ideal location for us as we liked being away from all the tourists in Banff, but it was definitely close enough to visit which we did 3 of the days we were there. Alison gave us some great suggestions for activities & our teenagers loved the vacation! (And we all know how hard they can be to please ;-)) Thanks for one of the best getaways we’ve had in a while!!
Thank you for your gracious comments and "going with the flow" as we got off to a bumpy start with my cleaning team's schedule. You were our first summer rental of 2019 and we're delighted that the location appealed to teenagers. When we were purchased the Falcon Crest condo (we're original owners), we were young at heart and loved to pass teenagers on the trail! Doesn't happen so much these days. ;-)
Amazing property in great location
Would definitely stay here again!
We've spent a lot of time in the condo this Spring, watching the days grow longer, the return of the alpenglow, and the contrast of the hot tub warmth with the sometimes freezing or cool temperatures.
Glad you enjoyed it as well and hope to see you back again one day.
Some of our favourite memories from early 2019 include tubing at Norquay, hiking around the hot springs at Cave and Basin and seeing the little world there surviving despite the snow all around, and a muddy/snow patched hike up to Grassi Lakes to see the crystal clear colourful water in the ponds and the mosses growing in the warm water.
It is almost time to return the seasonal rented skis that my growing son has been using...but I think a trip to Marmot Basin and Nakiska may get snuck in one last time before we say good-bye to winter...
Kitchen, views, comfy beds, large rainfall shower and hot tub!
We were colleagues staying in the condo for a 7 day field unit stint. After long days in forest, the condo was a wonderful place to warm up by the fire, cook a nourishing meal, and relax looking at the stars out the many windows.
Great property in the perfect location
Canmore was a perfect home base for our recent visit to Alberta. We drove to Lake Louise one day and Banff on 2 other days. The property is in perfect proximity to the town center of Canmore, with lots of shops and restaurants.
My only complaints were that I had not read the description of the property more thoroughly. There is a clothes washer/dryer in the building, but not the unit. And the unit faces 3 Sisters, which is absolutely lovely, but also butts up to a busier road/train tracks. It was not too much ambient noise and we slept like logs in the comfy bed!
The property was well maintained and appointed and had everything we needed to enjoy a weekend away. Would highly recommend!!!
Canmore is connected to Banff National Park via a paved bike path, backcountry bike and ski trails, hiking trails and highway.
The Canmore Nordic Centre is located up the hill from the town site.
Our favourite thing to do in Banff is visit the hot springs.
Canada celebrates its 150th birthday in 2017 and entrance to all national parks is free. From our property, visit Banff, Kootenay, Jasper and Yoho national parks as day trips.
Kananaskis Country (a provincial park) is also adjacent to Canmore.
