Why choose Sermoneta?

Our guests use our Apartments as a base for exploring the area around Sermoneta and the central Italy: located between Rome and the Mediterranean sea, Sermoneta offer the possibility to reach the beautiful beaches of Sabaudia in 30 minutes, Rome (by train or car) in 30 minutes, Ninfa Garden in 5 minutes, Tivoli with Villa Adriana in one hour, the famous Ruin of Pompei in a couple of hours...

Have a look of the detailed description of the three apartments of the Residence: “Ninfa Apartment”, “Sermoneta Apartment” and "Tellus Apartment".

Below, some Informations about Sermoneta: things to do, place to visit, itineraries, monuments, restaurants...

Sermoneta has changed little since its medieval conception, and the enormous fortress of Caetani Castle in the centre of the village, looms over and dominants the town and the valley below. Today, the castle hosts courses, seminars, and prestigious concerts. In July, there are concerts in the castle by well-known contemporary musicians and orchestras. The Caetani Castle is open every day from 10 to 13.

This medieval town is also known for the famous 'Ninfa Garden' that contains at least 19 varieties of deciduous Magnolia, along with birch, aquatic Iris and a sensational variety of Japanese maples growing in the eight hectares of the garden. To visit Ninfa Garden see the web site "fondazionecaetani.org"

The unique historic qualities of Sermoneta live on its Romanesque Cathedrals of S. Michele (XI century), Santa Maria Assunta (XII century, also famous for its frescoes of Benozzo Gozzoli), San Giuseppe (XVI century), San Francesco (erected in XI century by Knights Templar) and the Cistercian Abbey of Valvisciolo (XIV century). All of these churches are in the historical centre of the medieval town near the apartments. Don't forget the camera!

The historical centre is full of Open air restaurants and bars...mozzarella di bufala, prosciutto crudo, fettuccine ai funghi porcini and delicious italian wines are waiting for you!

The villages offers year around Festas, and in particular in the month of May, there are concerts every weekend, as well as art exhibits, painting classes for children and much more.

There is a medieval Festa of the Madonna di Vittoria in October, a Polenta festival in January, and other magical events all year long.

Sermoneta thanks for its medieval characterization has been the set for many movies like the Italian “Non ci resta che piangere” starring Roberto Benigni and Massimo Troisi or the American “Silk” from the book by Alessandro Baricco.

Also the film director Franco Zeffirelli (rewarded for 14 Oscar Nominations) fell in love with Sermoneta calling it 'The Paris of Italy'.

About Marco Bevivino

My name is Marco, I am 35 years old and in this picture there is my girlfriend Marianna...I have a degree in Economy and I like host people in my apartments in Sermoneta for suggesting restaurants, turistic itineraries, monuments and everithing for a relaxing vacancy!

Marco Bevivino purchased this apartment in 2009

Why Marco Bevivino chose Latina Province

These apartments belong to a medieval court of 1400 that my father has completely restored...meny foreign tourists at the beginning of 2010 ask me to stay for a week or more in one apartment because they loved the combination 'past and modern' and the relaxing view that offered the terrace...and so day by day I have improved this hobby of "accomodate people" and today thanks to our competence in welcoming guests and thanks to the high quality of the apartments, our structure is reccomended in the Novembere 2011 issue of 'Bell'Italia', one of the most famous italian magazine of tourism.

Beautiful apartment in a gorgeous medieval village

  • 5 of 5

We drove up the hill to Sermoneta and the apartment has a beautiful view overlooking the area towards the sea. This was amazing on New Years Eve as all the fireworks lit up the whole area below. We will never forget that night.

The apartment was perfect for our family of 5. the 3 kids slept in single beds in one room and we slept in the other room. Both rooms had en-suites which was great. We ate breakfast up on the verandah which was very nice.

The local shops had milk and bread , cafes etc(5 minutes walk up the hill). The bigger supermarket was in latina Scalo(10 mins by car) , this is also where you catch the train into Rome. Our train into Rome took 45 minutes.

We loved walking around the village and everyone is very friendly.

Sermoneta is a delicious setting also for the New Years'day because from the terrace you can see all the lights and the fireworks of the land. I am happy you and your nice family enjoyed my apartment and the medieval village of Sermoneta...I hope you want to come back early from New Zeland! Thank you again, say hello to all your family best regards Marco :)

Great holiday with my family!

  • 5 of 5

Sermoneta is a magic medieval village. In 30 minutes you have what you need: we stayed in Rome, to the seaside (Sabaudia is beautiful) and one day we went to Villa D'este at Tivoli (Adrian Imperor). The apartment is good, bright, big bedrooms (we were 6 people), two large bathrooms, dishwasher and washing machine. Also the terrace has a great view over the pontine lands...the owner (Marco) is a great host! We will come back early!

wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is very beautiful. The rental includes all necessary equipment for a relaxing holiday, a cosy and charming place with a fantastic history. The rental and the environment refer to an authentic Italian property. The host, Marco, is a very warm and charming man who knows everything about the history of Sermoneta and the region of Lazio, and he loves to tell you all about it. In perfect english , I noticed. The rental is situated in the center of Sermoneta, close to everything (Rome, beaches, hills)

I will stay in this apartment next time I visit Lazio.

Owner's Response: Good evening Mr Peter, thank you so much for your review about my apartment and about Sermoneta. I noticed you have used Sermoneta as base for going around its area: Rome, beaches, other medieval villages (Norma, Cori) but you have also appreciated some features of Sermoneta such as Ninfa Gardens, Valvisciolo Abbey and so on... the perfect vacancy I think! Grazie! Hope to see you soon best regards marco

great experience, clean and comfortable apartment

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in Sermoneta in June 2013 with my husband, Martin 12 and Sara 6.

The house is fully equipped, fashionably breathtaking. Sermoneta is a very wonderful 12 century mountain village very close to Rome (only 30 minutes drive).

The owner is always helpfully and the pool is a gem under olive trees. I'll definitely choose it again and highly recommend it.

Le camere pinte appartment Sermoneta

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our (2 persons) 2 week stay in the appartment. It was large, clean and had a terrace with beautyful panoramic view on the Pontina plain. The owner was very friendly and helpful to let us enjoy the stay. Sitting facility could be a bit more comfortable. Centre of medieval Sermoneta was very nice and within short walking and a bit of climbing distance. Rome easily reached by train from nearby station. A stay in Sermoneta like this is warmly recommended!

Bon séjour

  • 4 of 5

Sermoneta sits atop a foothill of the Lepini Mountain Range parallel to the ancient Pontine marshes, and with views of the glorious Mediterranean sea, a short drive away. A half hour’s train ride from Rome, or an hour and a half by car along the ancient Appian Way; a trip to Sermoneta is a pleasure in itself. Great beaches and beach resorts only 25 minutes away are an added bonus. The town has changed little since its medieval conception, and the enormous fortress of Caetani Castle looms over and dominants the town and the valley below. The castle is now run by the Roffredo Caetani Foundation, which was created by Lelia Caetani in honour of her illustrious family. Today, the castle hosts courses, seminars, and prestigious concerts. There are concerts in July in the castle by well-known musicians and orchestras, and festivals in May, and other cultural events through the year.

Open air restaurants and bars make for easy summer living. Winters in cosy interiors are an equal delight.

Other Activities: Abundant History, Art, and Culture, & Music Festivals.
