Beautiful property and wonderful location!
We were two family’s with 4 kids total. The property was very spacious and had plenty of room. The pool was great and all the outdoor areas were so enjoyable. The kids loved the extensive DVD collection too :)
The town of Ston was right down the road so we had fresh bread from the market everyday and enjoyed several meals there.
We would definitely stay again.
Very central to many attractions. As we took day trips to Dubrovnik, Mustar, Corcula and Mljet.
Thank you for your kind review, it's much appreciated. I'm delighted you all had a good time and hope to welcome you to Croatia again sometime. Ivona asked me to thank you for leaving the house so tidy when you left.
Our small group of Norwegian “wine lowers” has over the years visited many of the European wine districts. Always renting a house with self catering possibilities for a week or more.
This house has been the best so far.
The charming village close by, Ston within walking distance, a beautiful beach at Prapratno and not to forget some very good vineries nearby.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself if you have the time I would love to have your opinion on some of the local wines and your recommendations..........I still get confused at times and often forget which wines I really enjoyed; a combination of old age and of course the alcohol!
Für erholsame Ferien hervorragend.
Schöne ruhige Lage, schön renoviertes altes Haus. Küche für 10 Personen gut ausgestattet.
Villa Sabina is a traditional stone farmhouse just outside the ancient fishing village of Broce on the Adriatic coast. The house is in a peaceful rural location offering complete seclusion and the terraced garden has beautiful views with both shade and areas in which to sunbathe. There is a large outdoor kitchen for barbecues and other food preparation. The covered loggia gives welcome relief from the heat of high summer. Villa Sabina nestles in a small valley containing three farms, producing olives, wine and fruit. The house has been completely restored to provide 5 bedroom (3 double, 2 twin) 4 bathroom fully air-conditioned accommodation comprising an open living space, a large fully equipped modern kitchen and dining area. There is parking for 4 cars. All the bathrooms are large (3 en-suite) and the showers are 990 cm x 990 cm or larger. From the terrace you can see the Adriatic through cypress and olive groves and the front of the house looks across farmland towards the pine woods and maquis that stretches South East for miles along an almost deserted coastline. The only other hamlet between Broce and the end of this part of the peninsular being the tiny fishing village of Kobas.
The villa is just over 1 hour from the airport at Dubrovnik and 45 minutes from the city itself yet a world away from the crowded beaches in that area. It is a short walk to the sea where you can swim either from the beach or the jetty. The nearest sandy beaches are Prapatno which is 15 minutes away by car but the most beautiful beach in the area, Przina is a little further away never crowded even in high summer.
There is one restaurant in Broce within walking distance of the villa with excellent food and stunning views of Ston in one direction and out to sea in the other.
The nearest shops are in Ston ( 5 mins by car) which boasts an excellent baker, a butcher, several supermarkets, an hardware store and a chemist, most of whom speak good English. There are five restaurants all of which are pretty good and in summer a small market selling fresh fruit and vegetables as well as 4 or five bars.
The surrounding area is tranquil and unspoilt even in high summer and though reliant on tourism has not been overwhelmed by it, most locals you meet still farm and fish even though it is no longer their sole source of income.
Some of Croatia’s best wines come from the Peljesac Peninsular, both red and white. Prices starting at £2 per litre for house wine, some of the better Dingac wines are quite expensive though worth a try. The are many wineries that can be visited where you can taste and/or buy.
Be sure to visit the ancient city of Dubrovnik, walk the medieval walls of Ston, get the ferry to the National Park of the island of Mljet and take a trip to the walled City of Korcula (the birth place of Marco Polo) or for the more adventurous go to Bosnia and visit Mostar (around 2 hours). This barely scratches the surface of things to do locally and the house contains details of other attractions or there is a tourist office in Ston.
