Charming Nantucket Victorian 6 Bedroom - New kitchen

Bedrooms 6
Space 1,600 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

6 bedrooms, 3 baths, sleeps 12-14

Watch sunsets from the front porch of this comfortable, sunny 6 bedroom Victorian home (3 queens, 4 twins, 1 day bed which converts to a king, full sofa bed), located conveniently in the Sunset Hill area of the old Historic District, just a short walk to the town center and 3 ocean beaches. Features include an old fashioned 4-wheel pedal surrey with a bench seat and fringe on top, a whirlpool tub, and FREE teddy bears for all guests.

'Beary Quaint' contains a large living room with fireplace, dining room with seating for 12, kitchen and pantry, den, 6 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms. There is a sofa bed in the den.

The house includes many adult and children's books and games, stereo with CD, MD, MP3 and cassette, 2 TVs, 2 DVDs and VCR.

The back door leads onto a deck with nearby charcoal grill. The yard is completely fenced in with trees, flowering shrubs, picnic table, child's swing, and outdoor hot and cold shower.

Every guest goes home with a free Teddy Bear!

'Beary Quaint' had its origin as the 19th century life saving station on Muskeget Island off Nantucket's western coast. In 1931, the structure was taken down and moved to its current location. Though the layout of rooms has changed, the original woodwork gives Beary Quaint an older, more Victorian feel. Hardwood floors, lace curtains, patchwork quilts,

quaint wallpaper, stenciled walls, teddy bears, and furniture chosen for comfort make this 6-bedroom home ideal for family gatherings.

Owners communicate well; great location

Nice, relaxing place to stay with extended family. Room to spread out in the backyard and the great front porch. Comfortable, well equipped, good interaction with owners. The availability of bikes and access to bike paths was a big plus.

Everything you could need in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Beary Quaint was great for my family. It fit everyone very comfortably and had all the amenities we could possibly need. The surrey was the best amenity - it was such a novel item! The house was clean and the location perfect. Just a short ride (bikes included!) or walk into town. John called to check in and make sure everything was good, which it was. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend!

Cozy Clean Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

When we visit Nantucket, we love to stay at Beary Quaint. It’s a true treasure and we’ve made many family memories here. There’s plenty of space for extended family and the house is clean, comfortable, and has everything you could possibly need. It is especially convenient for families with young children as there are high chairs and pack and plays and so many toys, games and books to keep kids of all ages entertained (adults too!). There’s even a surrey and our toddler grandson had a blast riding in it on the quaint streets of the neighborhood. We loved relaxing in the swing and rockers on the front porch and playing in the large backyard. The neighborhood is quiet, and it’s also close to town. We walked there everyday (sometimes twice) to shop or enjoy a ice cream treat from the Juice Bar. It's an easy walk to many fine places. We enjoyed delicious sandwiches from Something Natural, right around the corner! The owners take great care of the house and it really feels like home away from home. We appreciate and feel that care and you can see it in family photos taken through the years that display the various renovations. They are displayed in the comfy playroom/den. Our grandson still talks about all the fun memories at Beary Quaint and we do too. The house has fine details (like the wooden whale coffee table that first attracted me to the house) and a finely carved mantel for the fireplace. Three bathrooms, great baths and showers! Two washers and dryers! It's quaint with the modern comforts needed. All communication with the owners is clear and if needed, caretaking help is readily available. This is a five star historic home away from home. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We look forward to get a chance to return.

Great back yard, clean sheets, great location.

  • 3 of 5

The location of this house is perfect to enjoy the town and nearby beach (a 10-minute walk), and the other beaches (a 20 - 30 minute bike ride). Through some miscommunication, the house had not been cleaned by our scheduled arrival time, but owners quickly remedied the situation, and housekeeping had it ready for us within a couple of hours. The kitchen was very well equipped, backyard was lovely, and the surrey was fun, though a couple of the bikes were not serviceable. House has a mustiness to it (one of our party has asthma and was somewhat affected by this), but seems generally clean otherwise, if a little dated. Owners' presence was significantly felt by many, many post-it notes all over the house with helpful instructions (which included a note about bees from 2011, notes re date of purchase of many items of furniture - ?? - and replacement costs etc). We were surprised the lease required us to launder, dry, fold, and re-stock all bed linens, which would have required us to get out of bed at 4 am to have time before catching our ferry. Thankfully, the owners were flexible about this and let us do what most rentals do, by placing our linens in washer before departing. We had a great time, and really enjoyed the 4th of July festivities on Main Street, American Seasons restaurant, and renting jeeps, mopeds, etc. It was a great trip.

Owner's Response: We’re glad you had a great time and found the location of the house ideal to enjoy all Nantucket has to offer. We regret the mix-up about the cleaning (first time it has happened in 30 years!) but are happy we were able to rectify it in 2 hours. We do offer guests the option of doing their own laundry as many like to lower their vacation costs. We are pleased to have shared our home with you and that you had a great trip.
