I am a NYC public school teacher and my husband is an international correspondent for Brazilian media. We have been married for 35 years and have spent that time living in both Brazil and the United States and love to travel all over the globe. When we travel we prefer to stay in rental homes in lieu of the traditional hotel. We draw from the positive home stay experiences we've had, from Paris to a fishing village in Brazil, in order to offer our guests the same welcoming, at home feeling we so very much enjoyed.
Dale Freitas purchased this condo in 2002
My husband and I bought this house in 2002. After 9/11 and a subsequent trip to Paris,(where we rented a stunning, modern apartment), we decided that we wanted to buy a weekend home, a special retreat, closer to home. Though we love the beach, remembering the anxiety from the constant traffic, driving to and from our past summer vacations in the Hamptons, counter-acted the tranquility we were looking for near the ocean. We decided instead to buy this home in the Berkshire mountains, where we have found the tranquility we were looking for. There is absolutely no traffic to contend with, not on our drives up and down the Taconic State Parkway, and not in any of our travels from one town in the Berkshires to the other. And of course there's the fact that the Berkshires is a cultural haven, filled with everything from world class dance at Jacob's Pillow to New York Times reviewed theater, from the quaint Norman Rockwell museum to MASS MOCA, the largest contemporary art museum in the world.
We love the peace and quiet and all that the Berkshires has to offer, and are sure you will to.
For ski lovers, the proximity of the house to the Jiminy Peak slopes, just 2 miles down the road, gets you to the mountain in no time. But the 2 mile distance is just enough to afford you and your family space, privacy and a wonderfully peaceful environment.
I want to thank you for the lovely stay at your condo. When we were about 10 miles away I remembered that we didn't sign the guest book as requested. Sorry about that--so here's an electronic version:
What a great place to stay! This is definitely not your average ski condo. It's more like a mini art gallery with high quality furnishings and interesting photographs, prints and objects d'art. Perfect location, stylish, clean and well stocked. We loved it. We had a great time skiing at Jiminy but also enjoyed the hiking trails at Mountain Meadows in nearby Williamstown. Williamstown has great shopping, too.
Thanks for everything.
Our family had an enjoyable stay at this property which is conveniently located to all points in the Berkshires. Home was clean, well-furnished and well organized. Sleeping arrangements are comfortable and quiet. The home possesses an unusual amount of artistic details for a rental, so I'd be wary of recommending it when young children are in tow. However, great for adults. We hope to return in the future.
This upcoming ski season will be the third season in a row that we have rented this condo from Thanksgiving to March. It is very comfortable, fully equipped and well maintained. The owners are always available. It is 2 or 3 minutes from Jiminy Peak and the area is well maintained by Jiminy. John Harvards and Powderhounds are two great restaurants at the mountain. Our family would highly recommend this property any time of the year.
The Sauter family. Long Beach, NY
We rented this condo for the month of February and loved it. Perfect for our family of 4 with plenty of room . The condo is very well maintained and fully equipped. The owners could not have been more helpful with any questions we had regarding how to operate electronics, etc in the home. The kids loved the sledding hill right behind the house and spent many hours after skiing riding the hill. The house is within minutes of Jiminy Peak and is close to many great restaurants. Highly Recommend.
we rented the property during the ski season 2009/2010. we had a blast. no complaints at all. everything was perfect. we are renting 2010/2011. that is how much we loved it.
My husband and I had a wonderful weekend here with our two teenage daughters. The condo was very comfortable, spacious, beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed (including board games which we hadn't played in years together!). We enjoyed playing tennis (which is on site) and took a great hike up in Mt. Greylock, which is nearby. We had a delicious meal at a restaurant in Williamstown, too. It was too quick and trip but hope to be back. I highly recommend this rental.

We have rented this home for the last two years, from mid-December to mid-March. It is a great rental! The house is just one mile from the Jiminy Peak mountain, and there is an amazing hill in the backyard for sledding.
The inside layout is perfect. With 3 bedrooms, a loft, a pull-out couch in the master, and two trundle beds...there is a lot of room.
Great fireplace, loft area, nice furnishings...it was perfect for us. We really enjoyed our ski seasons up there.
This year we are moving to Vermont so we are not renting again for the 09-10 season. We will miss this place! We looked at many rentals in Jiminy Peak, and this one is by far the best. Rent it now!!!
The Berkshires has been referred to as the new Hamptons. The important difference is that you won't have to battle the traffic to or from the house. Though Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, is mainly known for it's skiing, the Berkshires has all-season activities and is also a year-round cultural center. We are close to Williamstown with it's beautiful college setting and the Clarke Art Institute. Drive 5 minutes further to North Adams where Mass Moca (Museum of Contemporary Art) sits in a beautifully restored 19th century mill. Drive up to Manchester, Vt. for outlet shopping. Head in the opposite direction and visit Lenox, summer home of the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood, or Stockbridge with it's Norman Rockwell Museum. And of course, Jiminy Peak, which offers not only some of the best skiing available in the New England area but a variety of year-round activities to keep the entire family entertained. You'll find something for everyone in the wonderful Berkshires.
