Perfect holiday beach villa set in tropical garden for total relaxation
Our villa is surrounded by a tropical garden filled with the scent and colour of frangipani, hibiscus, jasmine and ginger flowers, visited by butterflies. It features a sparkling freshwater pool with a water feature that provides a quiet soundtrack to your sunbathing. The pool has a lounging step - perfect for reading (or lounging!). 10m away behind more tropical planting is the bigger, shared pool (shared among 11 villas).
We designed our house with holidays in mind. We have shady terraces for relaxing and sunny balconies for sun worshipping. Our dining area is outside on a shaded terrace next to the pool, perfect for take aways from the local excellent restaurant across the road.
Our holiday home itself is airy and light and built to a very high standard, finished in September 2011. The living area has a flat screen LED TV on which you can watch international cable TV or a movie from our library while lounging on our L-shaped sofa. The kitchen includes granite work surfaces and Smeg appliances.
We have taken the utmost care to provide comfortable beds with pillow mattress toppers and high thread count linen - after all, holidays are for catching up on sleep after all. Our four poster bed has a sea view and two of the bedrooms have wall-mounted TVs. The second bedroom has a king size bed and the third has twin beds (these can be pushed together to form a third double bed). All our bedrooms have en suite bathrooms with Grohe fittings and showers, including a Balinese rain shower where you have the impression of showering outside while being protected from the elements (and any prying eyes!). Each bedroom has its own private terrace or balcony, letting the amazing Thai scenery be the perfect backdrop for your holiday. One of the bedrooms has stunning sea views and is ideally situated to take advantage of the sea breezes.
All rooms have ceiling fans, air conditioning and black out curtains to help you get over jet lag or simply lie in. We can also cater for young children with travel cots, baby monitor, baby bath, high chair, sand toys etc. - just ask!

About Kay Thomson
We are a British family with small children living in Singapore for the last 5 years - we designed and built our house in 2011 with family holidays in mind.
Kay Thomson purchased this Villa in 2011
Why Kay Thomson chose Mae Nam Beach
We have lived all over the world but love Thailand. It is rare in Thailand to find a quiet corner that isn't too developed but that has beautiful beaches and all the amenities that make a holiday comfortable. We love Bang Por beach for its sandy 'desert island' qualities, the lack of hawkers and (unlike Chaweng) its quiet and calm sea. We have restaurants within walking distance. We had the opportunity to design and build our own house so we made sure we had huge walk in wardrobes to manage those suitcases, a lounging step in the pool, outside dining with ceiling fans, balconies on all bedrooms, rain showers, separate laundry room, open plan living .... it's how we would live on holiday.

Bang Po beach is on the north west of Samui. There are no resorts or nightclubs so it's perfect for a relaxing romantic or family getaway. Our beach isn't shared but you can wander 10 minutes along the sand to a local restaurant that serves excellent Thai specialities as well as western food for the less adventurous. There are also a couple of quiet restaurants across the road that offer eat-in or take-out. The beach has no hawkers, no clubs with loud music, just lots of white sand, swaying coconut palms and gentle sea - a real Robinson Crusoe beach. The water is very shallow for a long way so safe for children, and there is a reef 100m out for snorkelling - we even provide kayaks if you don't want to swim that far! There are many activities on Koh Samui: diving, golf, fishing, spas, elephant trekking, Buddha’s to visit etc. The new activity seems to be 'walking streets' or night markets in Bophut and Nathon - they start around 6pm and sell everything from insect snacks to fake Gucci ... very popular with tourists and locals alike and worth a visit! There is a much louder side to Koh Samui ... Chaweng is 20 minutes away where you can join beach parties, hang out at trendy clubs and eat at great restaurants, but return home to our villa for peace and quiet. There is also a Tesco Lotus hypermarket about 15 minutes drive from our villa, and lots of food markets and little convenience stores close by.
