About Judith Van Horn (owner)
For about 15 years,I was lucky enough to have friends who owned a villa in this small waterfront community of villas on this wonderful multi cultural island. When this one came up for sale, I put everything I had into buying it and I am not only proud of my villa but enjoy being there whenever possible.
Judith Van Horn (owner) purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Judith Van Horn (owner) chose Pelican Key
My beautifully decorated, open-space, bright & breezy villa has everything you need for your getaway! I do everything to make your trip feel like a home-away from home: My 450 sq. ft. waterfront and private deck is amazingly beautiful -- relaxing, calming, dream inspiring, book reading, iPad or laptop using, glass of something delicious and listening to the waves crashing below or the birds. Soft Caribbean breezes blowing through. I do love it as well and it seems to be a highlight of my guests. The villa is entirely private and yours to enjoy! When you arrive, my manager, Sylma, will be there to greet you and get you settled with your keys, etc. She will show you around, provide local tips, suggestions, and support if you need it. - Check-in time is between 2 pm to 8pm in the evening. Check-out is at 11am in the morning. - Please kindly note, our villa is not suitable for pets, young children (under 4), or loud parties.

By Far, The Best Ever!
My wife and I are retired and over the years we have stayed in many condos, houses, and resorts throughout the Caribbean, including Tortola, Virgin Gorda, the Bahamas, St. Thomas, St. Croix, Nevis, and others. We have found no place that even compares to Sint Maarten and this villa - Coral Shores #2, which includes the views, ocean sounds, and the location. The accommodations are great - the pictures tell it all. Judith, the owner, is very interested in your stay and enjoyment of the island, and Sylma, the manager, is terrific. Our flight to the island was delayed by nine hours and we did not arrive until after midnight. Sylma waited for us at the house to orient us with the necessities and then the next day she gave us more of a load down about the island. We had wine, cheese and crackers waiting for us in the refrigerator. Because our flight delay, we were unable to get our rental car that night. The next day we could not get a taxi because they were too busy with the cruise ship passengers. At the last minute, I contacted Sylma and she had no problem getting us to the rental car agency. We have already booked our next trip in December and plan to book every year. I just can not say enough about our experience.
Pictures don’t do this villa justice! Truly beautiful.
Cleanliness, comfort, decor, colors, open spaces and amazing deck all make this villa one of the best on the island. All of our needs were met and more that we hadn’t even thought of. And the location, - quiet for relaxing or sleeping but a short 5 minutes to all the Dutch side offers ~ restaurants, grocery and island shopping, nightclubs, casinos, activities, beaches, etc. a short ride to the French side. Will I stay again? Absolutely! My return to this villa and the island is already confirmed for my next stay. Thank you!!!
The property was far enough from 'downtown' to have quiet, except the sound of the ocean, but it was close enough to be able to get to anywhere within just a few mins. The community pool just steps away was nice. The covered back deck looking straight out to the ocean was amazing!
Fantastic Place and Central Location
This property was all we hoped for and more! The view from every angle off the back of the property is unbelievable. You are truly on top of the water when you walk out from any of the sliding glass doors. My wife and I enjoy lounging on the chairs of the patio/deck with a glass of wine and watching incredible sunsets. Very serine. You may not want to leave the Villa at all!
If you do want some adventure or fun, this place is very centrally located. Its an easy walk to any bar/restaurant in the Simpson Bay area. Short drive to Cupecoy. I would definitely rent a car so you can explore all both the dutch and french sides offer.
I sincerely thank you for your positive response to my St. Maarten villa. Your enjoyment of my home brings a smile to my face and I am grateful. As first time visitors, I am also pleased that you enjoyed the island. After 18 years in St. Maarten/St. Martin, I never tire of the cuisines, the people, the changes and the amazing colours.
Again thank you and I do hope you come again.
The Best Of SXM!
Other visitors have summarized nicely the spectacular location/view and hominess of Judith's condo, but here are a few other things:
- - This former owner of a timeshare at a nearby resort quickly realized how much more a little extra money can get you in privacy, comfort and space.
-- Judith's island guide is the best I've seen -- either in print or on the web. Even if you've been to SXM before, as I have several times, there's still some great information.
-- A special thanks to our new friend Sylma, Judith's property manager, a most welcoming host. We even visited Sylma's church!
-- There can be no greater endorsement than saying you like a vacation spot so much that you will return the following year. That's us. We're coming back.
Thank you for your wonderful review of my "home away from home". I will let Sylma know as well. She will be delighted.
Yes, please come back. Return guests are valuable and highly valued.
Again, thank you and Happy New Year
Second stay and planning a third...
This week-long stay found us back and enjoying ourselves from the moment we got off the plane having gotten our bearings from our first trip. Taking Judith's advice on car rental allowed us to enjoy Maho, Marigot and Phillipsburg with ease. Fave beach? Mullet Bay Beach, barely 15 minutes from the villa by car. Some resorts feel like they are just that. But here, we felt as in a home away from home and right on the sea! Forget resorts where maybe you can glimpse the sea; here the home is literally on the edge of the sea and from the verandah you can see, hear and smell the surf crashing on the shore. The pool area has been nicely upgraded and is lit for a night swim. This community/enclave consists of about 23 homes and has an exclusive feeling to it without being over-the-top. Having been there twice, I can assure you that the cleanliness and condition of the home is consistent and reliable. This means much to those of us who have had our hearts sink when opening the door to less-than-pleasing conditions. That just won't happen here. Simple, tidy, clean with enough touches that let you know the owner has you and your enjoyment in mind. My Significant Other, who was also here with me the first trip and who has more experience than I holidaying says this home is her fave of all places she has stayed in the Caribbean...and that is saying a lot! Sylma is the local lady to call who, aside from keeping the property well-managed and clean, can assist with other issues when you may be unsure of who to call. While the airport is close enough to observe planes coming in, there is no noise issue. Indeed, it really is a quiet and relaxing home. Being just off the road, it is very low in both vehicle and foot traffic. And this enhances the privacy and calm aspect as you can imagine. I should also add that it has a safe feeling to it, always a concern when trying out a new place to relax. In closing, I am not surprised this home is popular and books well. This villa deserves it!
I'm located on a quiet residential road where the colours and views are spectacular, my villa is very private and calm; the pool is surrounded by chaise lounges, palapas for shade or steps into the sea for snorkeling or water boarding. I'm within a 5 minute walk or 1 minute drive to the main road and access to restaurants, casinos, shopping, wonderful French patisseries for espresso and croissants and roads leading to the French side of the island where gourmet restaurants and beaches await.
