Mount Desert Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, queen airbed available, sleeps 4-6

Welcome to Cedarstone, a secluded lakefront home with glorious mountain views and quality accommodations. Located in a cove at the head of Long Pond, the lovely cabin is situated at the end of a private, tree-lined drive and is encircled by gardens at the front and back. The pine paneling and wood floors give a warm and inviting feel to the interior that has been newly renovated and boasts modern appliances. The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking supplies. New furniture adds to the comfortable ambiance of the house, as does the wood-burning stove. A picture window graces the living/dining area, taking full advantage of the lake and mountain vistas. The cabin comes fully appointed with a washer and dryer in the basement, as well as a TV, VCR and DVD player. Books, videos and games offer plentiful indoor entertainment.

All of the rentals are one week minimum stay and run from Saturday to Saturday. Sorry but we can not accommodate "odd" week rentals.

Bookings are done outside of VRBO and the cancellation policy, payment policy etc. are different that what appears as a template on VRBO. Please inquire.

Outdoor Amenities: Outdoors, the wonders of the property expand with a porch and swing for relaxation. A spacious deck with tables and chairs is attached to the house and provides ample opportunity for dining al fresco. A dock juts out into Long Pond, the perfect launch for Cedarstone's canoe. To swim off the dock is a delightful experience and a small sand beach is suitable for little children to wade. The property comes complete with paddles, oars, cushions and life jackets. A few feet from shore finds a picnic table for lakeside snacks or meals and a tent floor to accommodate additional visitors. Your guests and your pets will enjoy every minute of your vacation at Cedarstone.

Nearby Towns: The property is located 2 1/2 miles from picturesque Somesville, home to quaint shops, a repertory theatre, a bookstore called Port in a Storm, a small grocery and a gas station. Bar Harbor is a mere 20-minute drive away, or consider the services of the free Explorer bus to visit this famous tourist town as well as other towns and sights on the Island. Boasting many restaurants and shops, boat tours, whale-watching expeditions, shore hikes, cultural events and a myriad of sporting opportunities, Bar Harbor has something for everyone.

Acadia National Park: Acadia National Park encompasses a good portion of Mount Desert Island with its numerous mountains and lakes. Trails for all levels of hiking and mountain climbing crisscross the Park and several lakes are available for swimming, boating and fishing. Taking Ocean Drive by car provides an excellent way to enjoy the many spectacular scenes on the Island. Nestled in the heart of the Park, Somesville and Bar Harbor, as well as the quieter towns of nearby Southwest Harbor, Bass Harbor and Manset, are meccas of sightseeing for any traveler.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Rick and I had a wonderful week at Cedarstone. The house was squeaky clean and beautifully organized and we thank you. We would like to reserve Cedarstone for two weeks next year.

This home is inviting very clean and has everything one needs. The owner is very nice and helpful. It's close to acardia national park. Our favorite restaurant is Helen's. The grounds are kept beautiful surrounded by flowers. The only draw back for us there isn't cable T.V. We would recommend this home to family and friends.
