The Old Point House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 11-12)

4 bedroom historic home in the heart of Downtown Beaufort.

This 4 bedroom, 3 bath historic home sits in the heart of Downtown Beaufort's prestigious 'Old Point'. Built in the late 1800's, this house is part of Beaufort's history, and is only 3 short blocks from the bay, as well as shopping, art galleries, restaurants and attractions of downtown. If you stay at 608 North Street, you will be in the perfect location to experience the best of Beaufort.

The home has been completely restored with a fully equipped kitchen, limestone tile, heart pine floors, new stainless steel appliances, and impressive antiques from Bali and Indonesia. The large master suite features a king bed, private bathroom with whirlpool tub, and a private sitting area. Two additional bedrooms have queen beds, and one bedroom has a pair of twin beds, and one double bed. Wireless internet and cable TV are included.

Three large porches provide great spots to admire the beautiful low country scenery and watch the horse drawn carriage rides pass. A short walk is Beaufort's newly renovated Waterfront Park which provides the perfect location for an afternoon of boat watching, fishing, and breathtaking sunsets.

For parents of Parris Island graduates, this house will provide a wonderful place for you and your family to relax and unwind before and after graduation. Located approximately 10 minutes from the Parris Island Gateway, our home offers a luxurious and spacious setting that is ideal for families of graduating Marines.

Hunting Island State Park, close by beaches and public boat ramps are all easily accessible, and Charleston, Hilton Head, or Savannah are close enough for day trips.

Staying at 608 North Street will truly be an experience that cannot be matched by a hotel, condo, or any other rental home. We appreciate your interest, and please email or call for more information!

PS - If you like historic homes, you will love this house. This home has been completely renovated and has all the modern conveniences while maintaining a historic charm. It is located in a prime spot in the historic district. If you are someone who is expecting new flawless construction and prefers a hotel room or suite over a historic property, you probably will not like this home. This home was build almost 200 years ago, and though it has been completely restored and is well taken care of, it does have imperfections that are typical of historic homes in the Beaufort and Charleston areas. We think this is what makes the home special, and we hope you will agree!

About Elizabeth Christmus

Hello! We are a couple from nearby Columbia, South Carolina who fell in love with the Beaufort area a long time ago. We were lucky enough to come across this beautiful home in Downtown Beaufort in need of renovation! It took longer that we had anticipated to restore, but was well worth the effort. This is truly a one of a kind property that we love to share with other families!

Elizabeth Christmus purchased this house in 2003

Why Elizabeth Christmus chose Beaufort

Beaufort, SC has always been a place my husband and I would visit with our family. Our parents took us here when we were children, and we brought our children to Beaufort when they were young. We don't care for the 'touristy' locations that are so crowded in SC, and we love the beauty, history, beaches, etc. in Beaufort.

We chose to purchase this particular home because we love to restore historic homes, and this home we could not pass up! This home was built around the turn of the 20th century, once the old North Street Aquarium years ago. It was so beautiful and in a great location being within walking distance of the water, shops, etc.

We had to replace porches, walls, ceilings ..... this was quite the renovation project, but with a lot of work and time we were able to renovate the home to the beautiful state it is in now. This home is truly one of a kind and a part of Beaufort's history, and we are glad that we can share this with you!

What makes this house unique

Staying in our home, you will have a vacation experience like none other in Beaufort. Our home is different than any other home in the area and a part of what makes historic Beaufort special.

Our home has three porches where you can relax, enjoy the breeze, read a book, or watch the carriage tours pass by.

Our home is within walking distance of everything downtown. Our family loves to take walks around dusk and watch the sunset over the water. You can have morning coffee at one of the cafe's on the street as you walk to waterfront park. You can shop, eat at the restaurants, tour historic Beaufort... all without having to drive anywhere. This house is one that you will find truly special!

Excellent spacious home

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of seven women stay in the house and it was an excellent experience. The house was clean, well maintained and very comfortable. There was plenty of space for our large group and we never felt over crowded. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions thoroughly and in a timely manner. It's in a perfect location with restaurants and shops within walking distance. Our group would highly recommend this property and would love to come back in the future.

Absolutely Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Glorious house in top condition. Elegantly spacious with large kitchen, dining room and living room, and sleeping accommodation more than adequate for 4 adults and 5 children.

The location in the historic district is within walking distance of downtown which saved renting a van and fighting parking.

Charming centrally located historic home in downtown Beaufort

  • 5 of 5

We had nine staying at the home for a fine night wedding weekend. There were three families, and the home suited us perfectly. The bed rooms were slightly different than shown on the writeup, but worked even better for us than hoped! We could not have chosen a better home for our long weekend.

Perfect location to experience Beaufort

  • 5 of 5

My family and I came for a mini vacation and stayed 3 nights. We had a wonderful experience. The house was decorated beautifully and in the perfect location. We were able to walk to the restaurants and shops at the water, which took about 5 minutes. Beds were comfortable and the house was very welcoming. We will be back for sure.
