Spa Chalet is a Victorian 150 year old Swiss-style holiday home that was designed by the Crystal Palace creator Sir Joseph Paxton in the late 1850's. It was totally restored to it's former glory by its present owners in 2009. Built into South Cliff a few feet above the sands, it is the towns most unusual heritage home and possibly the only detached house on this famous seafront. The house has been completely refurbished and modernised from top to bottom, whilst retaining the many period features. On the first floor of the house entrance level, there is a beautiful lounge with sea views, a large dining/kitchen area which comprises of a combined washer/dryer, dishwasher and a stainless steel range style oven. Also on this level is the master bedroom which has an impressive en-suite with a roll top bath, and an additional double bedroom and a completely tiled wet room. On the ground floor there are a further three double bedrooms, all with en-suites. The layout makes the most of the uninterrupted majestic panoramic sea views, especially from the balcony that runs along two sides of the building.

Epic location with the best parking spaces in Scarborough. The property is unique in its design with stunning views across the bay by day and night. It is more than adequately equipped, being spacious and cosy. Our family has had the most perfect seaside holiday ever.

Beautiful, charming, characteristic holiday house situated over looking Scarborough Spa. The house is equipped with absolutely everything from buckets & spades, tin foil, baby utensils and equipment, dvds, books, games, the list is endless. Eight adults & one baby spent a week here in October and enjoyed every moment. The Chalet is immaculate with wonderful sea views looking over the harbour.
Due to the layout I would not recommend this property to the elderly due to the access into the property and the layout but for able bodied guests you could not wish to stay in a better place. Stunning !

We stayed one week - 4 adults, 4 children and a dog and the property was everything we had hoped for

Best views in Scarborough!
The chalet has a really fantastic position with wonderful views around the bay, with the weather conditions, the tides, and the activity on the beach, in the sea, and in and out of the harbour constantly changing. Being in the centre of Scarborough means that it is very easy to find plenty to do without ever getting in the car, which is a bonus. Although a bit of gawping by passers-by can be expected, this is not intrusive as from the house they can't be seen.
The house is currently up for sale and gives the impression that a certain amount of maintenance is due. A historic property of this kind, by the sea, cannot be easy to maintain. The living rooms are comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped (though one really big pan would have been useful, and the microwave appeared not to work - it did, but couldn't be set).The décor in bedrooms and bathrooms was a bit over the top for our taste, and did not seem particularly Victorian. However they are spacious and comfortable.
Access is via a flight of steps on the outside of the back of the house. This is not mentioned in the pre-booking information and could cause problems for those with limited mobility. Some of the locks were temperamental at times, one of them most of the time.
The car parking for only two cars is less of a problem than some might think. We only used a car on a couple of days in the week we were there and mostly used the ones at the house. There was so much to do without using the car that we did not mind. There is free parking nearby from 6pm to 9am which is useful for getting the car close by for going home, and free parking about 10 minutes walk away at the end of the disc parking zone.

Cosy, luxurious chalet with the best views in Scarborough. Just a short walk from town, amusements and the beach with plenty of places to east to suit any budget. Four of the five bedrooms are en-suite and the place is lovely and warm, even in winter. Couldn't ask for anything better.

A contribution to the cleaning & laundry costs of £59.00 will be added to all bookings. (THIS IS SHOWN WITHIN THE NIGHT RATES) Pets are welcome for an additional charge of £15.00 per booking towards the cleaning costs.
