I had to stay a week off season with 2 cats while waiting to close on my new home on Deer Isle. The hosts were awesome, the view is awesome, the shore is awesome! All of it really was wonderful- and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a all-the-time fantastic view, easy accessibility to everything, and delicious artesian well water! I know that sounds crazy, but when you have the best water in the world coming out of the tap, consider yourself lucky!!!
Great host!! Beautiful view of boats, the ocean. Nice pier, sea glass, relaxation!!
Excellent choice for a quiet and relaxing getaway. 1 hr 15min drive to Acadia National Park 20 minutes to Stonington and lots of neat places within an hour for local shopping, great food, a drink or just to enjoy the water and boats. Lots of local art, and people are very approachable!
Nothing brings me more pleasure than having others come enjoy this slice of heaven. I love this area, and am so happy to have my guests discover all the sights and sounds of the Maine coast. Thank you for staying here. I hope to see you again some day!
Sharon was a great host!
Sharon did a great job of helping us find the unique sights around the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again!
I love this island so much! It is easy to suggest places for renters to visit, and each renter leaves a brochure of his/her favorite spots, along with suggestions in the guest book.
More comfortable furniture would help. We found the chairs and sofa uncomfortable. Bed suited us fine. A box fan for hot weather would add to comfort. Space is good and location is good for exploring the lower part of the peninsula Friendly owner..
Best Maine Experience Ever!
Sharon and Steve's home sits in the woods with gorgeous views overlooking Eggemoggin Reach. From our second story apartment windows and private deck we watched deer feed in the yard, boats cruise in Eggemogin Reach, and all types of birds. My wife and I put on swimsuits and wadded into the clear, cold Maine waters to collect rocks and shells to our hearts content. vDeere Isle is a beautiful place to visit and you would be hard pressed to find personal accommodations more pleasant or hosts more willing to please. We have stayed elsewhere on previous trips to Maine but in the in the future we will be found at Sharon & Steve's.
It is always a pleasure to share this little piece of heaven with people like you. You were both absolutely delightful! I look forward to your next visit and hope we can stay in contact through the year. I'm so glad you were able to see the deer and collect rocks. There are will be plenty of rocks for you when you return!
Long Weekend in Maine!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the apartment. It was clean, just perfect for 2 and a dog. Off the main road, private and breathtaking sunrises! Thank you Sharon for your hospitality. I would highly recommend your place for an exploration of Deer Isle and the surrounding area!
The apartment is actually more to the east than the marker - right on the ocean. Little Deer Isle and Deer Isle are connected to the mainland via a beautiful suspension bridge. Eggemoggin Reach is known around the world as one of the most spectacular locations for sailing. From the deck, front lawn, pier, or beach, you can be entertained all day long with the various makes and models of boats that sail or motor by. If you are more into sight seeing, you can drive around the islands where there is a picture perfect spot at each turn. You will be impressed by how many artists and artisans there are who are selling their wares from their own homes or barns. Haystack School offers courses in various art media including metal work, glass blowing, water paint, etc. The town of Stonington is a working fishing village where you will marvel at the town pier, the quaint shops and the wonderful selection of restaurants. Blue Hill, on the mainland, is a favorite spot for many travelers.
