Mata's house has just completed an extensive renovation providing all the modern comforts while retaining the character of this 100 year old village house. It boasts 3 charming bedrooms, 2 shower rooms, a large kitchen with central island breakfast area, separate dining room with 2 balconies overlooking the sea and a relaxing lounge. In addition to the 3 balconies there is a large outdoor garden terrace, possibly the largest in the village which provides a huge and relaxing space to enjoy the sun, the amazing sunsets, the stars and peace at night and the beautiful views of the sea as you sit 300m above sea level.

About Neil Longmuir
Mata and Neil bought this house in 2005 as this is the island where Mata grew up as a child and where her family and friends still live. As we live overseas now we want others to enjoy the beauty of Milos while staying in our very special house.
Neil Longmuir purchased this House in 2006
Why Neil Longmuir chose South Aegean
It's one of the only truly luxury houses to rent in Plaka with some of the best views.
What makes this House unique
You will love the peace and the views, a real escape from our busy lives.
Beautiful property in charming location
I would definitely recommend this property. It’s on a small Greek island with loads of character not ruined by tourism and seeming to retain its authenticity. The villa is beautifully done and spacious with lots of outside terrace areas and great for watching the sunset.
It’s in the top of the island in the village of Plaka which is only small and quiet but enough restaurants and bars to keep you busy and small shops, and there are two other Villages with lots of bars and tavernas only ten minutes walk away, particularly Trypiti which is just down the road and full of tavernas and great people; we went to the local village party in the square and danced with the locals who kept giving us wine, beer and souvlaki!
I would recommend a car, as there are lots of beaches nearby, but the island is very hilly. You can walk down to Klima beach & fishermen’s huts past the Ancient theatre & catacombs but it’s a steep walk back.
Thank you Stephen for your comments. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay in our house and time in Milos. The village party sounded like fun!
Milos at its best
Mata's house is the best accomodation in the best place of the best island. Everything was perfect and owner always ready to help Nothing more to say
Greece at it's Best!
The home was everything I had always dreamed Greece to be! Breathtaking views, lovely village and the feeling of home made this holiday one which will always be remembered. Communication was great with the owners, who also left us with some welcoming gifts of wine, fruit and biscuits! Milos is amazing- but this gorgeous home in Plaka enhanced perfection: the kitchen was fully serviced, all amenities provided and the house was very clean and recently renovated. We loved Sterios's little artsy cafe at the bottom of the hill, which also hosted live Greek music on the weekends!
House in Plaka / Milos summer 2015
It is a very nice house, with a beautiful situation. Very well equiped. A charming place. We have been very happy and satisfy to stay there.
We recommend this place to everyone. We added 3 kids with us and it was manageable in terms of stairs and fences. The backyard was our dinner area to watch the sunset and stars in the sky. Neil is a good owner, who welcome us with tomatoes and watermelon. 2 min by foot from Plaka heart with restaurants and little shops.
Charmante maison avec une vue fabuleuse
Parfait séjour à Plaka, charmant village
Maison très agréable.
Mata's House is in the lovely traditional island village of Plaka, one of the prettiest in the Aegean. It is a picture postcard with its traditional white washed houses, cobbled streets and stunning views of the Aegean. Quiet and peaceful day and night yet just a 200m stroll to the buzzy atmosphere of the village which at night comes alive. There are 5 restaurants, 4 bars and coffee shops, boutique shops, bakery and of course an ice cream shop. Plaka is perched on the side of the mountain with breath taking views of the sea, yet only a 5 minute car ride to the nearest beach. Milos is regarded by the Greeks as having the best beaches, more than 50 in total and very diverse.
