Comfortable and roomy three bedroom, one bath cottage; master with queen bed and side bedrooms with two twin beds in each make this is a very family friendly home. Tenants supply all sheets and towels, but they’re also available for a modest charge. The living room has a woodstove, plenty of books, and also a queen sleeper couch for extra guests. The bathroom has a shower that is feasible for someone in a walker.
The country kitchen is fully equipped with stove, microwave, oven, and refrigerator. Cleaning supplies are included. A lobster pot and propane gas cooker are available as well in addition to the propane gas grill on the front deck.
Filtered views to the islands, cove, and harbor entrance give breathtaking sights of sailboats and working lobster boats out front. At night you can hear the harbor bell buoy or see the lights from boats, buoys and lighthouses. The general store is a pleasant half-mile’s walk, where you will also find restaurants, a post office, the town landing – and a short distance further the town office and large library. Plenty of info for day tripping is available at the cottage. Kayaking in the harbor and cove out front is easy and rentals are available locally. The town landing is available free for all water craft. Drift Inn Beach is close by and provides a sandy family-friendly setting.
Enjoy secured wifi, a TV, DVD player, or a plethora of books, puzzles and family games. Work on your laptop while sitting in the warm sun of the deck or snooze in the adirondack chairs out front.
We appreciate you not smoking inside the cottage. Dogs are allowed only with permission. We’re sure you’ll enjoy our cottage as much as our many returning guests do.
My husband and I have recently retired and have been renting this property for over twenty years. We love making it available for others to make their family memories come true. We are now working on the third generation of creating a special experience and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
Judith Bowen purchased this house in 1954
During the mid fifties my parents spent a long time combing the coast of Maine for that special spot that would become their home and legacy. Everyone who sees this area for the first time is taken by its beauty. Living here you feel like you are stepping back in time. People are friendly and work to make this a great community to visit.
Lovely family cottage with ocean views nestled in a woodsy neighborhood.
What we most loved was bring able to easily access the beaches and lighthouses and antique shops (and authentic lobster places!), without having the tourist summer maine experience. We felt a part of a friendly community yet on a peaceful retreat. Wonderful host that made us feel like it was truly our house for our stay. We cant wait to come back. Months later and our 3 year old keeps asking when we're going to the "red house".
This charming cottage provided the perfect summer getaway for me and my family. We enjoyed the quiet wooded setting, ocean views, blueberry patch, walks along the rocky coast, nearby beaches, lighthouses, seeing lobstermen, fog, sounds of buoys, exploring for seashells, quaint villages and shops, beautiful and friendly neighborhood, and lobster! The cottage was bright, clean, and spacious, and had everything we needed, from a well-equipped kitchen, to comfortable beds, tons of books, puzzles and games, beach chairs, internet access, outdoor spigot for sandy toes, etc. We loved the cozy evenings by the fire and wonderful hospitality. This spot is truly a treasure!
wonderful cottage surounded by trees and with amazing views to the see. Perfect for disconnect in a peaceful area. The inside is decorated very nice, with a Lot of details and books and three confy rooms. During the Cold nights you can meet each other in the living room around the fireplace!. Nearby candem, Marshall lighthouse and acadia national Park. Judy and fred are really Lovely hosts, they helped us to find the cottage, gave us info about the area and are close enough in case you need something.
