Overview

About the property

Bright and spacious right in the centre of Lisbon overlooking Rossio Square

This bright and modern apartment is a spacious (60m2) 1-bedroom property located right in the centre of Lisbon overlooking the Rossio square. It has been completely renovated and refurbished recently and enjoys lots of natural light.

A double sofa that converts into two beds in the living room means that up to 4 guests can stay here comfortably.

The living room has a truly marvelous view over central Lisbon, and includes a sofa-bed and other 3 sofas.

The kitchen is open to the living room and is fully equipped with all the modern facilities you need to cater and cook for yourself - washing machine, dish washer, gas oven and stove, microwave and fridge with freezer, as well as all the necessary cutlery and crockery.

The bedroom has a large double bed (140 cm wide), and external windows to let in the light and air. It has plenty of storage space and bedside tables with lamp.

There is a clean and modern bathroom with bathtub and a small window.

The apartment has a good temperature both during Winter and Summer. Nevertheless, in the wintertime the entire space is heated with two electric heaters, if needed. During Summer, the windows at each side of the apartment can be left open to keep the accommodation cool as the breeze passes through the entire property, and a fan is available.

Cable TV (100 channels), free high-speed Wi-Fi Internet (30 mbps), CD/DvD/Radio/MP3 player are all available and provided.

This apartment is located in the Pena district, very close to the central Rossio square, Baixa and Chiado area.

The street of the apartment has no cars and is a dead end, guaranteeing peaceful and relaxing time.

The main feature of Pena is that it is a plateau, from which two main slopes descend, facing Martin Moniz and Avenida da Liberdade. It begins at the north-east of Rossio and extends to Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, commonly known by Campo de Santana. The streets on the two slopes are twisting and irregular, leading to many beautiful alleys and side streets.

There are many small cafés and restaurants here, and it is just a short walk to the major tourist areas of Baixa, Rossio and the Praça do Comércio, with a lovely riverfront area.

This neighborhood is also very close to the famous Bairro Alto, a nightlife area, which can be reached after walking past Rossio or by taking the Elevador da Glória, the oldest funicular in Lisbon.

Sintra village is definitely worth a visit and very easy to reach as the train station with direct trains to Sintra (20 minutes) is just 200 mts away from the apartment.

Cascais village is also beautiful and has nice beaches. Really recommended. You can reach it in a fantastic train trip (25 mins) close to the sea. The train station (Cais do Sodré) to Cascais is just 1,5 kms away from the apartment.

There are many transport options nearby. The metro stations (different lines) are at 100 mts as well as buses, trams and trains. Most touristic and popular tram/bus routes depart from Rossio/Praça da Figueira Squares, which are 100 mts away from the apartment.

Come and Enjoy!

Beautiful Apartment..Great location..Lovely Hosts and one very special neighbor

  • 5 of 5

We cannot add to anything said already about the apartment. Beautiful view, comfortable bed, very quiet, extremely close to buses, trams, metro, trains that take you anywhere you,d like to go. Also lots of stores and markets and bakeries and bars within a very short walk. I would like to add one more anecdote. On our third morning a series of unfortunate events occured that resulted in us shutting the apartment door with our keys inside. We did not have a phone that worked in Europe so had now way to get in touch with Ana or Leonor. We thought about going to the police or even the US embassy but took the one in a million chance to ring all the doorbells in the 5 room building. One lovely neighbor answered and helped us to look up Ana and Leonor`s phone numbers and then she called them even though she was running late for a meeting. Leonor contacted the cleaning person who had the extra set of keys who then came to meet us and let us in. I tell this story to illustrate what we found out about Lisbon. How friendly and helpful everyone we met were but the people on the Travessa are extra special. Come to Lisbon, spend 4 to 5 days and definitely stay here!!!

Convenient and charming, walk to all the best attractions..

  • 5 of 5

This is a third floor walk up, and can be a little daunting at first, with a steep approach either on a narrow cobblestone street or a series of steps. The entrance is on a tiny street which can be a bit noisy at night, but the view of Rossio square, Sao Jorge Castle, the old Elevadore, and Bairro Alto is the reward. The apartment is not air conditioned, but we had a wonderful breeze through to the bedroom that made it comfortable even in the hottest summer weather. Some items in the kitchen could use some updating if you really want to cook, but the abundance of excellent restaurants right nearby made only breakfast preparation a necessity for us.

Overall, it was clean and comfortable, and perfect for us.

Fantastic view and great apartment

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is very centrally located and the views are amazing. It is light, spacious and comfortable and perfect for our 5 night stay. Would also recommend the local restaurants where you can eat very cheaply. Lisbon is a beautiful city and we would certainly return to stay at this apartment.

Fabulous location and accommodations !

  • 5 of 5

We visited from Feb. 23 - March 4, 2018. From the time we booked our trip to its completion everything went so smoothly. Andre’ and Ana were always easy to reach and very helpful as far as some of the restaurants and sites to see. The apt was spacious ,clean, beautiful views, all the amenities you needed. If we return to this beautiful city We will definitely book this place again!

It begins at the north-east of Rossio and extends to Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, commonly known by Campo de Santana. The streets on the two slopes are twisting and irregular, leading to many beautiful alleys and side streets.

Being one of the oldest districts in Lisbon, one is overwhelmed by the diversity of its buildings, constructed in accordance with the successive types of architecture through centuries. Wrought iron balconies from the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries can be seen everywhere. In constant dialogue with the wrought iron are the glazed tiles of the façades - a style reportedly brought from Brazil after the 16th century.

Pena is a quiet neighbourhood where one can find the Italian and German embassies, the birthplace of Amália Rodrigues and the place where Luis de Camões is supposed to have lived his last days (Calçada de Santana, nº 139)

It is very close to the famous Bairro Alto, a nightlife area, which can be reached after walking down Rossio or by taking the Elevador do Lavra, the oldest funicular in Lisbon. This 120 year old elevator goes every 15 minutes down to Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, the location of many excellent fish restaurants as recommended by many city guides.

Come and enjoy!
