Perfect for any special occasion especially wedding guests or relatives
About Nancy Chuda
My husband James Chuda and I are founders of Healthy Child Healthy World one of our nation's most respected children's charities. We are also founders of LuxEcoLiving a lifestyle blog which features many of our great travel adventures. Our loving pet is an adopted Labrador Retriever named Journey. He has his own Travel Blog as well. Travels with Journey. We moved to the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley from Los Angeles and just love it! We were so LUCKY TO FIND this beautiful home and Carriage House which was restored to its natural and authentic beauty this last year. Thanks to my husband, architect James Chuda and his amazing group of artists, "The Old Masters," the Carriage House boasts of beauty and remains authentically Resplendent Repurposed. The incredible standing (old growth) Redwood Trees, and Pines tower over the entrance and as the wind blows, the Paola Soleri bells welcome each guest. The immediate response from each guest is WOW! The view of the distant Chateau beyond the vines transports everyone to a magical place. It is so special you won't want to leave.
Nancy Chuda purchased this House in 2016
Why Nancy Chuda chose Solvang
You won't find a more private, quiet yet centrally located place to stay in the entire valley. Walking distance to the BEST MARKET. El Rancho. Great place to shop for any culinary desires... a fresh Sushi Bar too.Close to The Chumash Casino which boasts a great day spa and top entertainers, many of them are headliners in Las Vegas. Only minutes away to the top vineyards in the valley and the best restaurants. The Carriage House is truly one-of-a-kind. The only distraction and sounds you will hear are the crows flying from oak to oak trees. The western lifestyle abounds here. The vistas are untouched by humans... just miles and miles of grassland and oaks dot your morning and evening views. The sunsets are indescribable!
What makes this House unique
You won't find this opportunity anywhere else in the valley. We are the only restored 1920's Carriage House. Originally it housed a horse and the interior space has been completely restored. Wooden floors stretch the entire dimension, luxurious handmade furniture and French poster art highlights the massive space and walls. Cozy yet expansive due to the undulating views and the far distant horizon of the landscape. Artists have captured this view from other vantage points but never from this point. If you love photography this is the place for you. If you like to paint this is your retreat to do just that. If you love to write... you won't want to leave and if you love to read, the only distraction is the sound of the birds and as the sun sets you may hear the sound of distant hoof beats coming up Carriage Drive. And be awakened by the morning owl as the sun rises. Come and experience this unique property and you will come back again and again.

This cottage is truly a gem and Nancy, Jim and their sweet lab, Journey, were wonderful hosts. The place is just lovely especially the added touch of fresh cut roses from their beautiful garden in every room. And the views were simply amazing. We enjoyed sitting outside with a glass of wine and taking in the surroundings. Nancy recommended that we visit the winery right next to their property, Brave & Maiden. So glad we did...the tasting room was gorgeous and the wines were very good.
If you're coming to the Valley to visit wineries, this cottage is perfectly situated. We are already planning our next trip. And if we can manage to come without our adult children, we would love to stay here again! We hope to be back next year! Many thanks to the Chudas for making our vacation truly wonderful!
This property was perfectly located. Close to everything but tucked at the end of a quiet road next to a vineyard. Very quaint and charming. A few item in the fridge and a baguette waiting upon arrival was an add nice touch. The owner who live in the main house next door offered many suggestions for dining as well as made a wonderful suggestion for a wine tour. If your looking for a place to stay while expiring Santa Ynez Hills, this is a perfect choice. The peacefulness and amazing views can’t be beat.
We so enjoyed having Jenny and Danny as guests. They arrived from Chicago in a gorgeous convertible and came to enjoy a restful stay in our beloved valley and historic Carriage House. The weather was great. The birds and wildlife welcomed as well Journey our Labradorable boy. We provided all of the information to ensure them a great stay.
We hope they come back soon.
Beautiful. The best in Santa Ynez
The carriage house is stunning but cozy private, and peaceful. The days burst with sunshine with views of the surrounding mountains in the distance and vineyards in your back yard. The nights are magical and peaceful while relaxing or dining outside. This is solitude. A fantastic natural market and excellent coffee a quick walk away.
Nancy, Jim and Journey are kind and welcoming Ling-time Valley residents and will provide you with everything you need from restaurant recommendations to enchanting local history.
A must visit.
Thank you Liz... we so enjoyed meeting you briefly which means you had a great time and relaxed without any disturbances of the outside world. We certainly hope now that you found us you will come back to our corner of paradise and we will welcome you again... and don't be surprised if Journey spends the night next you in your comfy bed and surrounding views of the vineyard. He thinks it is HIS HOME AWAY FROM HOME and it is!
Cozy. Comfortable. Wonderful view. Appreciated all the little details the hosts provided from fresh flowers to the Danish Kringle. Will definitely go back.
It was a pleasure to welcome Jim and Lisa especially on Valentine's Day. It gave us an opportunity to do something special for her birthday which was a total surprise. So happy when guests express their contentment for the beauty of the Carriage House and the joy of being here.
Welcome cottage in Santa Ynez
What a lovely cottage. My husband and I stayed for two days right before Thanksgiving. The view of the vineyard from the living room, especially with the gorgeous fall colors, was enchanting. The king-sized bed was super comfortable, and the overall decor made us feel relaxed and at home. While the gas fireplace made things cozy, it didn't truly warm up the place, so we made use of the blankets. Also, on the first morning, the water in the shower was somewhat tepid, but the following morning, the temperature warmed up. Perhaps the hot water heater just needed to kick in. The kitchen is small, so it's perfect for simple meals or prepared takeout from the El Rancho Market, just around the corner. Our host, Nancy, was super friendly, calling me to welcome us and offering us winery and restaurant advice. She texted me after we checked out to let us know how happy she had been to have us. We very much hope to return to this lovely property in Santa Ynez.
The best view and bed in Solvang!
The Cottage was such a beautiful, peaceful and welcome respite after hours of driving from LA! We were delighted with the view of the vineyard and the mountains that can be seen right out of the back window. We enjoyed opening a bottle of wine and sitting out back watching the sunset. The cottage itself is so beautifully and tastefully appointed with interesting art, books and collected southwest antiques.
Most importantly though the bed was so incredibly comfortable- we slept so well!. The morning was magical with a good cup of coffee and watching the sun come up.
The location is so convenient to the Main Street running through Solvang and there is a wonderful food market at the corner. We picked up wine, cheese, crackers and an amazing barbecue chicken because we were too tired to go out the first night. The following day we did find plenty of restaurants nearby to eat breakfast and dinner after doing wine tastings all day.
If you want to stay in a beautiful, comfortable place in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley, this Cotttage is for you. Julie and Dave Fishman
It was a rare and special pleasure to welcome Julie and Dave. You couldn't ask for more respectful guests. They shared their joy of our hospitality by leaving the cottage exactly the way they were greeted...immaculate in every way. We loved hosting them and encouraged them to return soon again. Their discoveries of our beautiful valley and descriptions of the cottage atmosphere brings back all the hard work for us to create it. Taking a historic structure built in the 1920's and creating a welcoming interior space where guests can relax, unwind, and languish in the bountiful views of a vineyard very reminiscent of parts of France's wine country, is more than one hopes for...its a dream come true. Thank you Julie and Dave for your deep appreciation....come back soon. The cottage in the vineyard will always await your presence for years to come.
Surrounded by the best wineries in California, beautiful vistas and hikes. Seconds away from Solvang, the second largest tourist destination other than Disneyland. Great bakeries. Wonderful parks and Chumash Casino has the best entertainers.
