If you are not familiar with this part of Vermont, you are in for a treat! The Northeast Kingdom is noted for its rural character and unspoiled beauty. The large modern, fully equipped, year around house is situated on 35 acres in a hillside meadow with a southern exposure, beautiful vistas and overlooks Echo Lake. The house comes with a private 100 ft beach and row boat. There is also a large pond for swimming. If you want a quiet, private and beautiful spot, this is it.
Two bedrooms have two bunk beds sleeping four in each room, two bedrooms have a queen size bed and one bedroom has two twins (which can go together for a king size bed).
There is also a summer house for rent located on the lake with 400 feet of private shoreline. This house is fully equipped and has six bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is in a very private and quiet location.
We are retired social worker and high school English teacher. We live part of the year in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and come back to Vermont for part of the year. When we, or our extended family, are not using the two Vermont properties, we rent them for others to enjoy.
John & Carolyn Simsarian purchased this house in 1976
I have been coming to Echo Lake since 1950 and, therefore, have a very strong attachment to this very beautiful part of the world. We rent the large summer house, built in 1950 and located at the lake with 400 feet of private shoreline during June, July, August and September.
In 1976 we had a year around vacation house built on an adjoining 35 acres parcel of land with a hay field and beautiful vistas. In 2007 we had a large spring fed pond built near the house for swimming. There is also 100 feet of private shoreline at Echo Lake with this property.
The settings for both of these houses are stunning. Echo Lake has beautiful clean water for swimming.
Summer activities include: swimming, boating, fishing, mountain biking, and hiking. Winter activities include: cross country skiing out the front door and at touring centers, and down hill skiing at Burke Mountain ( 35 minutes) and Jay Peak (45 minutes). There are many lakes and mountains to explore. Biking and hiking is fantastic. Good restaurants are available and the house is only about 20 minutes to the Canadian border.
