Relaxing place to get away
We had a wonderful time at Water's Edge. It was so peaceful and relaxing. This little house is so well equipped with everything needed to enjoy a quiet weekend. All we had to bring was food. We were thrilled to see two dog hook ups outside for our beagle and daschund. The weather was mixed June 21-23 2018 so we took advantage of kayaks and canoes the first day not knowing what we would get day 2. Joes Pond is perfect for fishing and has quiet beautiful atmosphere. We did have rain on day two of our stay. It did not affect us as we stayed in part of the day reading and enjoying the house. Between showers we enjoyed the walking trail and more fishing. The homeowners were friendly and accommodating leaving a booklet of things to do in the area as well as how to navigate amenities of the house. Thank you for a much needed kick off to our summer :)
It is my little piece of Heaven. Thank you for your kind words!
Location, location, location! Good access to bike trail and lake. Enjoyed the beautiful view daily on the deck for breakfast. House was clean however, well there were spider webs in the bathroom and holes in the screen door that was repaired with screen tape that didn't hold. Several kayaks were available for our use and they were appreciated, however, they really needed to be swept out before taken on the lake....discovered a spider nest in the middle of the lake.
House water was fine for bathing and washing dishes however, we didn't know until we got there that the owner suggests bottled water for drinking and cooking. That would have been helpful to know beforehand.
Overall, a pleasant stay, but just be prepared this cabin is rustic.
Great location with beautiful lake frontage
We had a wonderful stay a Waters Edge. This is one of the more private spots on Joe's Pond. The cabin is cozy with a great view of the lake and a large deck for waterside cookouts. This is the perfect place to be if you want to spend the day on the water, with a private beach and kayaks provided by the owner. It is nice to find an owner that welcomes dogs and our dog loved swimming and playing here. Another feature we really enjoyed is the rail-trail right out the back door, which is great for a walk with the dog or family bike ride. We are looking forward to staying here again this summer.
A wonderful, relaxing place
My wife and I found Water`s Edge to be a terrific spot to unwind. Our dogs loved it, as well. The "Rails-to trails" walkway behind the cottage was a source of enjoyment with walking, biking, and meeting both locals and vacationers.
Besides the amenities immediately present on Joe`s Pond, Danville hosts many events during the summer which provide lovely local flavor (concerts, farmers markets, etc.), as well as a grocery store at the local Irving Gas station whose meat quality tops Whole Foods Markets (along with a beer selection to make any hop-head weep with joy).
I`ll echo any positive comments offered in the past, as well. It`s a lovely place, and the price is right.
very quiet and peaceful
Quaint, rustic cottage on the beautiful Joe's Pond. Bed was comfortable, shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Kitchen was well equipped. Wood stove worked great and kept the cottage very comfortable even though it was quite chilly (30's) outside. The old railroad tracks close to the cottage have been converted to a bike/walking trail that goes on for miles.
We hope to return again next year
We love visiting Joe’s pond and staying in this lovely cottage, with our two dogs. This is our second visit to this beautiful place. The house has a handsome maroon/red cast iron stove; the impeccable wood floors are covered with oriental-type rugs. The kitchen is fully equipped, the refrigerator is huge, and we created some delicious memorable meals. The bedroom is connected to a lovely small porch and the bed is comfortable, with high quality linens and comfy pillow. As you can see from the pictures, the pond is directly next to the house and the kayaks and canoes are easily accessible and dependable. The hosts, Mary Ellen, and her family, went out of their way to be helpful, but also fully respected our privacy. We had a wonderful time. We ate well, slept well, got plenty of fresh air, and hope to return next year.
Canoeing, kayaking, boating, antiquing, fishing, hiking, biking, festivals. For the true feeling of Vermont this Northeast Kingdom spot is absolutely the best. It is my home away from home and I know you will love this area also. The folks at the corner stores are a wealth of information on local color and special spots. Private without being isolated.
