Scotland Villa Rental Photos and Description

Invermay, Beautiful Self Catering Victorian Villa In Blairgowrie, Perthshire

Prices for first half of 2016 all now substantially reduced!

Invermay is a luxury detached house just renovated and fully restored. The house sleeps from 6 to 10 persons. There are two upstairs triple rooms with a shower room and bathroom.

Downstairs there is a large double room with sitting area and TV. The sitting room also has a double sofa bed.

Access is suitable for persons with poor mobility as there is a ramp to the front door from the drive. There is then the downstairs bedroom and a downstairs bathroom which also has a separate large shower with integral shower seat.

The kitchen has an under counter double electric oven as well as an induction hob. There is a fully functioning Aga which heats the kitchen and can be used for cooking. Also in the kitchen there is a dishwasher, Microwave and fridge/freezer.

In the dining room there is also an infra-red sauna, which is a dry heat sauna requiring no water. Bathrobes must be worn in the sauna at all times for hygiene purposes and comfort. Towelling slippers are also provided.

Invermay is on the A93 Royal Deeside Tourist Route which runs from Perth to Aberdeen. From Perth, one passes the entrance to Scone Palace and then the famous Meikleour Beech Hedge, planted at the time of the Jacobites. After that, the road passes the 'Wee' Course at Blairgowrie Golf Club and just off to the right is the club with championship courses, Rosemount and Lansdowne. Keep going on the A93 and Invermay is just another mile along the road, passing the signs for the Ardblair Trail which leads to the beautiful Bluebell Wood walk. Blairgowrie High School is just before Invermay and the Leisure Centre with Pool is situated there.

Invermay is also very close to the Cottage Hospital which is on the other side of the road on the corner of the Perth Road and Ann Street. Keep going and the bike Hire shop is just a couple of hundred yards further on. Then the town with all the shops you would expect to see in the biggest town in Perthshire. The Wellmeadow is the lovely green area in the centre of the town. The River Ericht is nearby and the Cateran walking Trail starts there. You can keep walking for 64 miles and eventually return to Blairgowrie! Go over the bridge and then turn left on to Balmoral Road. You are still on the A93 and on the way to the ski resort at Glenshee. At Glenshee, you cross the border into Aberdeenshire and then you soon arrive in Braemar with its bonny wee shops! Keep going a little bit further by the banks of the beautiful River Dee and then you will glimpse Balmoral Castle from the road. From 1 April to 31 July each year, you can visit the castle grounds and Ballroom. There are many more castles in Aberdeenshire.....

Back to Blairgowrie though.... Other routes are to Dunkeld to the lovely cathedral and old village centre with mercat Cross. You are then just about at the A9 and can travel on to Pitlochry and delightful Edradour Distillery or go a little west to Aberfeldy and Dewars Whisky World. After Aberfeldy there is Kenmore and a visit to the Crannog on Loch Tay or climb up Ben Lawyers or keep going to Killin and the Falls of Dochart.

From Blairgowrie, you may want to see the sea, so travel to Dundee, the city of RRS Discovery and see the Ship and visitor centre. The V&A will be coming to Dundee in the next year or two and the centre of Dundee is currently being transformed. There is a great cinema at the DCA on the Peth Road in Dundee opposite the University. In addition, the Dundee Rep 100 metres away is a very thriving audience-puller. For art lovers, the McManus Gallery in the centre of Dundee is a must and it also tells the story of the city of Dundee. To the east of Dundee is the former fishing village of Broughty Ferry, now a suburb. Here you can visit the castle, go to the beach and eat Italian ice cream. What better way to spend a holiday!

About Mrs Kempton

My parents purchased this property in 1979 and required 8 months of major renovation to make it habitable. After I inherited the property in 2011, it was the same story all over again as the house once agin needed a total refit from op to bottom. At times I wished I had never started, however, I think the result has been worthwhile to keep the house looking good as it is in a nice neighbourhood. The kitchen and three bathrooms have been totally modernised. However, th remainder of the house retains original features

Mrs Kempton purchased this villa in 1979

Why Mrs Kempton chose Scotland

It was far better to look after the house and keep it as a family home, albeit for families to stay on holiday rather than for one family to live in all the time. I like to think that my parents would be pleased to see the house as it is now and they would approve of the renovations.

What makes this villa unique

Invermay is in such a lovely town, Blairgowrie, which is the largest town in erthshire, not that Perth has regained it's city status. Blairgowrie is only 20 minutes north of Perth and 35 minutes from the skiing further north at Glenshee. Glamis castle is 30 minutes drive and Scone palace is 20 minutes. Invermay is just along the road from Rosemount and Lansdowne Championship Golf courses, two of the most neautiful and green courses in the British Isles. The Ryder Cup junior event will be hosted at Lansdowne in September 2014, before the main event in nearby Gleneagles. Anglers can enjoy the thrill o catchin salmon in town on the Ericht or just 10 minutes away on the River Tay. If they are interested in Trout, there are fishing lochs in the hills by Glenshee and on the high road to Dundee, at Tullibaccart.

Invermay has a unique and friendly atmosphere for travellers and holiday makers, whatever their interests. There is free wi-Fi and gas central heating as well as a gas Aga in the kitchen and barbecue on the patio, along with a new log burner in the sitting room.

My family , including our 2 children and my parents, have just returned from a lovely week in Scotland staying at Invermay. Before arriving all contact with the owner, Fiona, was detailed, efficient and really helpful. The house is as lovely as in the pictures and had everything we needed for all age groups of our party. It is a spacious and comfortable with a really luxurious

kitchen and the bonus of 3 bathrooms. It is a house you look forward to coming back to after a day out.

A wonderful property near the heart of Blairgowrie

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time over the Christmas period in this cosy, clean and well-maintained house. Located 2 minutes from the centre of Blairgowrie, amenities including restaurants, supermarkets and pubs were easily accessible. The customer service from the owner (Fiona) was exceptional and greatly appreciated. We highly recommend this property for an enjoyable stay no matter what the time of year. Would love to return again soon!

Invermay Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5

As a Family, of 8, we really enjoyed staying at Invermay. The house was large and beautiful, and really lived up to our expectations. The listing was very accurate, in respect of the amenities available, its location, could not have asked for better.

The property is very well maintained inside , and out, a very pretty garden, even in winter.

The owner Fiona Kempton, was a star, took the time to show us all the facilities, how everything worked, and told us what was available in the town of Blairgowrie, and what programs were going on in the area. She telephoned twice to enquire if there was anything we needed, or if there were any problems that needed sorting out.

We really felt at home, and we would have no hesitation in reccomending the house to other friends and family. , and we hope to come and stay there again, we hope in the not too distant future.

WE enjoyed Blairgowrie, the town has God eating ou facilities and Is well placed for day visits to Perth, Dundee, and Edinburgh. Thank you Homeaway for having this listing

Perfect House with a morethan perfect hostess

  • 5 of 5

Five of us stayed at Invermay two weeks ago. We felt that we found the perfect house and location for our stay in east central Scotland. It is a great location to jump off day trips to Perth, Pitlochry, Sterling, Dundee, etc. The house is beautiful, spotlessly clean and well equipped with all the essentials including detergents, toiletries and paper products. It is located within a ten minute walk to town for shopping and eating at good restaurants. We enjoyed eating at Little's, Dalmore Inn (best lamb we ate in Scotland), and Cargill's.There is an infirmary within a two minute walk( which we needed on our trip) and a grocery store within five minutes. The beds were very comfortable and the house was located in a quiet area. We enjoyed relaxing in the gorgeous yard after a busy day of sightseeing. The house also has parking for more than one vehicle. Fiona Kinston went way beyond our expectations as our hostess. From the first email that I sent her until we arrived back home to the USA after our trip she consistently communicated with me and spent hours researching and sending information about Scotland. Our trip to Scotland was flawless because of her advice and suggestions. In addition, when our group arrived at her home she surprised us with a delicious homemade strawberry cake in the refrigerator along with scones, jam, wine, teacakes, milk, butter and sparkling water. She greeted us when we got to Invermay and gave us a plethora of information about the area. Fiona also dropped by prior to us leaving and said farewell. She is truly a class act. I would highly recommend a stay at Invermay in Blairgowrie based on location, great house and superb customer service. We definitely plan to return.

Visit www.invermayletsholiday.co.uk for more information and photos. Invermay is on the Perth Road in Blairgowrie, which is also the A93 Royal Deeside Tourist Route from Perth to Aberdeen, passing Scone Palace, Blairgowrie Golf club and championship courses, Glenshee ski resort, Braemar and Balmoral Castle. In addition, for children, there is a municipal swimming pool about 400 metres round the corner. Bike hire is 500 metres along the Perth Road. The golf course is a five minute drive and the skiing is 40 minutes drive. There is fishing 15 minutes away at Butterstone Loch and Dunkeld Cathedral is 25 minutes from the house. Walkers can enjoy the 64 mile Cateran Trail which starts in Blairgowrie. Munro Baggers can go to Glenshee in the summer and bag nine Munros, maybe in one day! There are regular pipe band concerts in the well meadow in Blairgowrie, which is now Perthshire's largest town with a thriving local community. Dundee Airport is 30 minutes drive as is Perth Railway station and Edinburgh Airport is one hour from the house.

Invermay is a detached Victorian Villa which has just been totally renovated and decorated to an extremely high standard. It still retains many period features such as the original pine panelling and glasswork, as well as a fully functioning Aga which heats the kitchen and is the best cooker! The house sits in its own private garden with ample parking for several cars. The house sleeps 6 to 10 persons in three bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the sitting room. Guide dogs are welcome but no dogs may go upstairs or on any bed! The house is a total non smoking area.

Downstairs there is easy access to the house by a new ramp to the front door. The master double bedroom with additonal single sofa bed is on the left immediately after the vestibule. On the right is the sitting room. Through to the back of the house is the very large new modern kitchen with Aga, electric double oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Carry on to the dining area which looks on to the rear garden. In the corner of the dining room is a new infra-red sauna, lovely for helping post-sport aches and pains! Then there is a small utility room with large sink and washing machine. Keep going to the bathroom with bath and large separate shower having an integral shower seat.

Upstairs there is one triple bedroom and a quadruple family room, both with fitted wardrobes as well as a bathroom and a shower room. All towels are provided along with all bedlinen. In addition, each guest is provided with a bathrobe for the duration of the stay. It will be required for use in the sauna. New towelling slippers are also provided for each guest. Throughout the house organic soap, hand cream, body wash, shampoo and conditioner have been provided by the Highland Soap Company based in Spean Bridge, Scotland. There are beautiful sheepskin rugs at each bedside upstairs provided by SkyeSkyns of the Isle of Skye. Feather duvets are provided and hypo-allergenic ones are also available. If you need a hypoallergenic duvet advise the owner in good time before your stay - at least a week ahead.

Notes:
The property may be accessible for some wheelchair users. It has been graded by VisitScotland as four star. it is not appropriate to say it is suitable for wheelchairs, as the width from the utility room to the downstairs bath/shower room may be a little difficult to negotiate for some users depending on the size of the wheelchair. Probably only a small wheelchair used by a child could be used in the confined space on the way to the downstairs bathroom/shower. The downstairs shower is a large size of shower tray and has an integral seat for any guest who finds it difficult to stand for long periods. There is a high chair and a cot for guests intending to bring a young child. The maximum persons I am prepared to accept are 8 as otherwise the house is too crowded. The price is per week and only weekly stays from Friday to Friday can now be accommodated. The price is for six persons. If seven or eight person groups wish to stay, there is an additional charge
