About The Owner

We are 2 retired public school teachers . BJ was an art teacher and Gene taught 6th grade . We built this house in 1983 / 84 doing a lot of work ourselves ( with a lot of help from our friends !! ) . Every week-end , we would leave school , dash home , load up the car and head for VT and ski all week-end then pack up the car and get back to PA after midnight . We are very proud that we never missed a day of work because of this project . Now , much older , we try to get up to VT once every month for at least a week .

Why The Owner chose Morristown

We loved to ski in VT and loved this area best . BJ found the beauty of the area outstanding . ( Many paintings were done here .) And Gene loved the skiing here so it was a perfect place to design and build our dream chalet .

Perfect Stowe Getaway

  • 5 of 5

BJ & Gene's place is perfect for a nice little weekend away. The chalet has everything you need for your home away from home. We traveled with 7 of us and it was a great space for all of us to hang out after a day at the slopes and big enough to give us all space. Stowe is about 20 minutes or so from the house. The village is about 5 mins. Close to great breweries as well. The fireplace is beautiful with plenty of wood, beds were all comfy, and the kitchen has all you need for cooking needs. The decks were great - although I'm sure much more enjoyable in the warmer months. Would definitely return and highly recommend this cute little chalet!

Owner's Response: This group was wonderful . They took the time to read all the rules and left our chalet in excellent condition . It was such a pleasure having guests like that . We would welcome them back any time . BJ and Gene

Lovely, cozy, spacious, great vacation house

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect vacation house for 2 families on a cold holiday weekend. Very inviting place, cozy but also with plenty of space. Well appointed, we didn't lack for anything. Very well maintained and cared for. Location is terrific, close enough to both Stowe and Smuggs. Beautiful forested site. We would definitely come back.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Stowe and our first experience doing a rental with HomeAway. Description of location and layout was great-only complaint here was the sign is kinda small with the overgrowth-easier to spot coming from the south than the north. Well equiped as described. Property was clean and well maintained, more instructions as to the workings of the house would have been helpful-had to call 911 after the house filled with smoke when we built a fire and the flu wasn't open as we thought. There is no local or network TV although there is a satillite.Property not handicap accessible, no wheelchair ramps, no .handrails to deck and the inside stairway is open on one side. The views are beautiful and location is easy commute all over Vermont. We went the week before Columbus weekend, 2009. The trees were beautiful even though we had overcast skies. There was fog over the mountains, but the sun came out when we reached the top of the mountain on the gondola.Stowe Lantern tour was fun but would recommend going the begining of your stay as we learned interesting facts that we would have liked to explore. Owner was great to work with-would highly recommend this property and hope to visit again sometime.

Beautiful Stay at Stowe

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this location many times and we keep coming back. The chalet is situated in a quiet location but very close to Stowe. It is exceptionally clean, quiet; perfect for getting together with friends and family any time of the year. It has enough room so all guests can sleep comfortably and it has all of the amenities. The Stowe Chalet is a perfect destination for your getaway!
