About The Owner

Caty has been a professional artist for over 30 years, and has traveled the world collecting textiles and objects from countries such as Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand, South America and more. After many years of creating figurative fabric sculpture and doing shows and exhibitions, she began creating with houses and vacation rentals in 2000. The cabin in paradise is filled with artwork and textiles from around the world and reflects her passion for visiting diverse cultures researching the story embedded in their artwork, architecture and history. Caty speaks on Celebrity cruises as an enrichment speaker, and currently has a Vacation Rental business in Asheville. The land where the Asheville cabin in paradise is located, was searched for after many years of trying to find just the right spot with a glorious long range view, plenty of light, and story book pastures with cows and animals.

Why The Owner chose Asheville Area

These North Carolina mountains are the most magnificent mountains in the world! As an Artist, I spent 5 years walking land to find just the right spot to build this retreat. I had lived in Burnsville, NC for many years and loved living in a place where you can witness the sunrise and the sunset with plenty of space to visually look out for long distances, rather than being enclosed by trees or in a hollow. The view takes you out of the mundane problems of life, and lifts you into an inexplicable place of beauty and serenity. Having lived in the mountains for many years, I know how a particular place can nourish and restore a soul, and this place was chosen for the gifts of beauty that it gives to everyone who comes here.

What makes this cabin unique

Beauty, rainbows, and double rainbows, 70 mile views, awesome sunrises, and pink and purple sunsets....quiet, peaceful, and beauty that lifts your spirit. Pastoral storybook views, yet all of the amenities of home, and only 12 miles to the center of Asheville. Book now, you'll be glad you did.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Caty,

What a wonderful and relaxing time we had at your beautiful mountain retreat! Thanks so much for sharing your little piece of paradise. It was so peaceful to sip our morning coffee listening to all those different bird songs, and of course, the local rooster. And night time was just magical! Rocking under a star filled sky while serenaded by croaking frogs. But the biggest treat and great surprise was the host of dancing fireflies. We've never seen so many glowing for so long! (No need for TV with night life like that.) An inside was as much a feast for the eyes as out. How Beautiful and artfully decorated your home is- yet comfortable and welcoming too. The only thing we needed was a little more time here. We hope to return someday.

Thanks again,

A Cycling Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Last month a group of us stayed at Caty’s cabin and had an absolutely great time. The cabin…which does it no justice in calling it that, was absolutely fantastic. We used the cabin as our base camp for a cycling vacation. Right from our doorstep we had some of the best cycling roads in the area. Bear Creek Road up to Marshall is a great ride with plenty of options along the French Broad River. We did elect to begin several of our rides in Asheville (around a 20 minute drive) as we found this more convenient to access the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mount Mitchell not to mention that after the ride we could visit the numerous Asheville restaurants, breweries….and more breweries!

Our ride from Asheville to the top of Mt Mitchell was a 95 mile ride with almost 11,000 feet of climbing. To some this may not mean much, but to cyclists it’s something that stories are made of.

Most nights back at the cabin were spent sitting on one of the beautiful porches and planning out our next cycling adventure.

I can’t say enough about this place and we have already made plans on visiting again.

Thanks Caty!

Spring Break and Family get together

  • 5 of 5

The family had a great time staying here. Beautiful house, great view and only 25 minutes or so to Asheville. We felt secluded (good) and were not very far from the Biltmore Estate, mountain hiking and the activities of Asheville. Kitchen is furnished - you just need to bring your food. The kids enjoyed the loft and had a great time exploring the fields. We really had fun with the friendly neighborhood black lab and golden retrievers. Thanks Caty, we enjoyed our stay.

Caty's home was beautiful and a wonderful place to stay if you are looking for seclusion and a beautiful view. The rooms were perfect for accommodating our two families. I had a couple questions during our stay and Caty responded right away. Definitely recommend this house!

Conference and Family Trip

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in your beautiful home! I didn't want to go to my meeting because of the peace of mind your home gave me!

To the owner, you are an angel! You were there when we arrived, you answered questions, made us feel at home and a bright light surrounds you and your home reflects your entire being! Your home is so relaxing and peaceful.

The birds (Humming birds, Red Cardinal, and Blue Jays) flying around the porch playing catch me if you can with each other, cotton-tail rabbits, squirrels and

watching the cows over on the hills was so relaxing. Looking at the stars at

night and seeing that “Blue Moon", what a treat! We also had the fortune to be

at the Leaf Festival......The biggest fortune was the comfort of your home! Thank you so much! My grandson thinks it will be more beautiful when it snows, so sounds like another visit…..Thank you so much!

Great mountain cabin

  • 5 of 5

The ladies in my family rented this cabin for a long girls weekend. The owner was great to work with from first inquiry and answered all emails and questions promptly. The cabin was as advertised. Just beautiful inside and out! Nicely decorated, super clean, and very comfortable. Already talking of planning another weekend at this cabin!

Sister's Weekend in Asheville

  • 5 of 5

I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful experience my four sisters and I had at

your home last weekend. We were like giggling children when we first

entered the house and realized it was even more beautiful than the

pictures. And the wonderful aroma that greeted us put us in such a

tranquil mood all weekend.

We did 2 short trips to Asheville. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously but we all couldn't wait to get back to our retreat and enjoy each other's company. We sat by the fire with our wine and caught up on family news. We actually woke early enough to see a morning sunrise while sitting in the rockers on the porch. It was pure bliss.

Thanks again
