|Minimum Stay||3 - 5 nights|
Duplex penthouse in the center of the Gothic Quarter in the charming Barrio del Born.
The building has an elevator.
Modern apartment with all the comforts for 4 people.
It has two floors with a lounge, with TV, wireless internet, free telephone for local calls, kitchenette with dishwasher, stove and oven, kitchen utensils, cart for purchase.
20 sqm terrace overlooking the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Mar. The terrace has a comfortable table with chairs and sun loungers, breakfast and dinner overlooking the cathedral.
In the beautiful top floor room with queen size bed, exit to another terrace with chairs and fantastic views.
The apartment has air conditioning and heating.
It is near restaurants, bars, supermarkets, the Picasso Museum is a 5 minutes walk and 15 minutes from Las Ramblas and the beautiful Boqueria market.
The streets have plenty day and night life but fortunately the apartment is very quiet to rest. The noise does not reach the room.
Tamnién can walk to the beach where you will find fantastic 'chiringuitos' (beach restaurants) for an aperitif or to eat fresh fish.
It is also very near the metro line and buses.
My husband and I stayed 4 days in Flavia's apartment, which I selected after reading all the positive reviews. For the most part, we were very happy with the choice. The location in the Born district is superb - great restaurants nearby, we were able to walk nearly everywhere, and the Jaume metro station was very handy for traveling to further-out destinations. We liked the terraces, though after one torrential 10-min. rain the seat cushions remained soaked for days, forcing us to eat breakfast at the tiny kitchen counter. Also, the terraces provide no view of the street below, unless you stand at the edge and look down, so it was impossible to people-watch. As other reviewers pointed out, the stairs are an adventure in the middle of the night, but we quickly adapted by leaving a light on downstairs for safety. Other minor inconveniences: the washing machine was a nice amenity, but there was nowhere to hang the wet clothing, and when we departed 2 days later some of it was still damp. And the wifi password was ridiculously long and complex, requiring nearly a half hour of attempts to successfully log on. Our only real dissatisfaction, however, was the uncomfortable bed. Sadly, we awoke each morning feeling exhausted rather than rested. I expect some discomfort when traveling, but a good bed is essential.
The location of this apartment is key. There is so much to do within walking distance, it can keep you busy for days. Restaurants, groceries, bars and shopping are all right there. You can also walk to the many restaurants and bars in the port area across the Main Street. Because the Santa Maria church is a landmark, taxi drivers can take you right home from anywhere you visit in the city, and a taxi stand is right around the corner from the apartment. The apartment itself is clean and pleasant. Although there is a lift, one must walk up two flights of steps to get to the lift, so not a spot for handicapped people.
Lucas, the manager, was very helpful and met us there right on time with the keys and to go over the apartment. Everything went without a hitch!
Great location. Flavia and Lucas were friendly and easy to work with. One terrace would have been great, but two were amazing. They brought great light in to the apartment and were comfortably furnished for hanging out in the fresh air. The church bells were pleasant but not intrusive, and the church providing a great landmark for finding out way home. Apartment included everything we needed including high speed internet, toilet paper, soap and kitchen essentials. I would come back in a heartbeat.
This one-bedroom apartment is directly across the street from the basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, in the lively El Born quarter. The apartment was spotlessly clean. The kitchen and bath are newly installed, highly modern and functional. There is no dishwasher (unless you count me!), but there is a handy dish drying rack. The fridge is a small under-counter unit, and works well. The lower level of the apartment contains the galley kitchen area, a large terrace overlooking the basilica, the bathroom and the living room area. The couch in the living area becomes a pull-out bed. We did not use it, but we did open it and it seemed as comfortable as a pull-out bed can be. A steep but pretty stairway accesses the second level bedroom loft, which has its own smaller terrace with a table and a pretty arbor that provides shade. The bedroom has an air conditioner, which works well.
The apartment is situated on the 5th and 6th (European) levels of the building, There is an elevator that is accessed from the street level by climbing one level of stairs. The door to the street is locked and seems secure. Everything you need is in the neighborhood. A nice little grocery store that has a cute wine cellar is just down the street. The market of Sta Caterina is in the quarter. The Jaume I metro stop is 2-3 blocks away. You can easily walk to El Raval, the Barri Gotic, Barceloneta and the Eixample neighborhoods without using the metro, but it is nice to have when the legs get tired. (Buy the T-10 ticket and share it!)
Although the quarter is very lively, we never heard any street sound when we went to bed. There are hurricane shutter window shades outside that keep out light and noise and the "white noise" of the air conditioner covers street sounds. You do however, hear the church bells that begin ringing on the quarter hour beginning at 7:00. They generally didn't wake us up until after 8, but they do start at 7.
The apartment owner, Flavia, is very good to deal with. Her communication is prompt and clear. She seems to be a very nice and caring person. The person who met us at the apartment, Lucas, was a good communicator and promptly answered my text messages. He met us at the apartment precisely as planned.
We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

We felt as if we were staying in the heart of Barcelona. Right outside our door, every day, there was something going on: performers, speakers, vendors. But we were not on a busy street at all. The location near the church is very special. This is a major landmark in the city of Barcelona. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast on our terrace and we were periodically entertained by the organ music from this church. The restaurants below were very popular late into the night but not noisy at all. We would often return to our neighborhood at midnight and be excited to see our little neighborhood still humming with activity. When do people sleep in Barcelona? The furnishings were lovely, clean and simple. The kitchen was adequate. No need for a large dining area since you have the beautiful terrace right there. The bathroom was GREAT! I want that same shower-head installed in my home! Lots of water pressure; easy to regulate the temperature. The washer is an added bonus. This was week 3 of our trip so we very much appreciated this amenity. Now ... the stairs going to the upstairs can be a bit of a challenge. But so what? In the middle of the night heading to the bathroom, it was an adventure. But really ... to have a 2 story place with another terrace up top makes it worth it. We would definitely stay here again and we will be recommending this place VERY highly to our friends. Thank you Flavia!
The apartment, which is very nice and has everything my wife and I needed for a nine-day stay, is in the most interesting, pedestrian-friendly area of the city, with unbeatable views and just feet from a beautiful church. The owner was very responsive -- when the water heater croaked, she had it replaced the next day. Definitely recommended.
