About Evelyn Pitt
I grew up in Albany, NY and have lived here all my life. I went to high school in Schenectady, NY and to the Empire State College for a four year degree. I have been an avid skier at Mad River Glen for years and have skied the West and Europe on several occasions.
Evelyn Pitt purchased this Chalet in 1964
Why Evelyn Pitt chose Waitsfield
My husband and I skied Mad River Glen and loved it (we still do). My two sons grew up skiing there every weekend and holiday week all wiinter. My son (Jeffrey) still uses it most of the winter with his family. We decided to build a duplex with another couple; they were not quite ready, so we built in a single family Swiss Chalet in 1964. It was our builders first house. This property was part of land owned by the builder's family (Richard Brothers); they also sold land to the Green Mountain Valley School and several other lots on our 'hill'. We have always loved it and keep upgrading it.
What makes this Chalet unique
The views from the living room decided us. We could see Sugarbush, Sugarbush North and Mad River Glen all from our front windows!!! That sold us on the property.

family friendly and fun!!!
I have stayed here with my family and friends for many years and keep coming back. An all-season, spacious chalet with all the modern amenities, including large flat screen TV with cable (for us this is great for the little ones or that late night movie!). Large, open great room accomodates several families at once for dining dancing and games. Lots of parking. Wooded mountain setting provides a great Vermont experience. Lots of wildlife to be seen right off the deck! Located in the immediate vicinity of Waitsfield, VT, everything you'll need is right there. Shopping, restaurants and movies and of course year round outdoor fun. Winter offers two nearby major skiing resorts to suit your needs and abilities, ice skating and a great quiet getaway with indoor fireplace. Summer offers river rafting, swimming, the best Saturday Farmer's Market ever, outdoor fireplace, hiking - you name it. We love this place. It is always neat and clean, owner is only a phone call away should need be. House is stocked with menus to local restaurants, brochures for all local activities, local newspaper, maps and even a fun guestbook!
Thanks for the koodoos. I appreciate that you enjoy my chalet. It is built for comfort and practicability. I'm pleased you enjoy it as much as I. I so enjoyed reading your comments.
Very good location. Great place for a family with kids going skiing.
Owner was very responsive
Helpful and easy to reach. House was as described. Very short drive to restaurants, supermarket and ski slopes. Perfect for a family going skiing with kids.
Well stocked house in great location
Great location, right up hill from Waitsfield and quiet. Close to Sugarbush, Mt. Ellen and Mad River Glen. Pet friendly. We enjoyed sitting out on the front porch and listening to the birds. Plenty of room to spread out. Kitchen well stocked. This would be a great ski house for a big group!
Thanks your nice comments. We are happy you enjoyed our Vermont house.
Love to have you anytime.
Comfortable and well-equipped ski house close to mountains
Owner was very easy to deal with. The house was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Location is very convenient to all three ski areas, grocery store, and restaurants. Our son loved the little loft over the kitchen. Lovely and light filled upstairs. A great place to spend a ski week.
Thanks Rick. We so enjoyed having you
Well maintained and very comfortable!
We just visited for a ski trip to Sugarbush with our 2 kids (14 and 9) and our Australian Shepherd. The house was terrific. We loved the open layout of the main floor, everything worked perfectly, the ski resort was conveniently close and the little town of Waitsfield just down the hill is charming.
We do enjoyed having you. We are delighted you were pleased with our chalet. Thanks for keeping it in good condition. Come back sgsin
