I highly recommend this cabin. It is very clean and spacious. The owner was very flexible with out schedule and timing and we are renting this cabin again this year. My kids and I had wonderful memories. It snowed on the day we arrived and it was beautiful. If you are looking for a little serenity and away from the crowds peaceful vacation - this is the cabin for you. It is worth the drive to the slopes which aren't that far and the local town is small but has everything you would need for your vacation. We loved it!!!
Our family of two young children, a dog and two adults had a very pleasant stay thanks to Stefan and his family's warm sense of hospitality. The cabin is charming and well maintained, with a plethora of lovely details: latching doors, what look like hand-hewn logs and floorboards, great books everywhere, a skylight above the bed in the master bedroom, where you can watch constellations travel across the sky. It's set away from the road -- great if you have small children or pups.
I do want to note that for families and other travelers with staggered bedtimes, some of the rustic charm does have a downside: The house is extremely sound-porous. Floors and walls are not sound-insulated and the house can be drafty. We made it work for us, going to bed not long after the kids did, so it turned out not to be a problem.
No TV. (Great for us!!!) Comfortable beds. Good kitchen for cooking. We thank Stefan and his family for having us.
Great place if your looking to just hang out and have a do nothing kind of weekend which is what we wanted. The fireplace in the living room area was the focal point of our stay. Reading, wine, conversation, etc..... The kitchen is modern and functional with adequate utensils, cook ware, dishes, wine glasses etc.....to whip up 3 meals a day if need be. You don't need to bring any of that. Hot water maker, coffee maker (conical filters) micro wave and toaster oven! Towels and linens are provided along with paper products. There's spices, salt and pepper so you really don't need to bring much to cook other than your food and condiments. Bring garlic and onion powder if your into those spices, those aren't in the cabinet. There were some crazy little flying bugs around the windows but the owner said they weren't aware of that, glad I told them, and said he's going to take care of that problem, they really didn't bother us.
There are two adjacent homes near this property that you can see from the windows, your not alone out there, and one has two dogs, one a German Shepard and they can be heard barking any hour of the day, even at night. That was our only disturbance. The owner tends to leave them outside in a pen. Other than that, it's quiet!!!!!
Overall a great stay. Will probably go back in the future.
This is the second year we've stayed two weeks at this great place. It's the perfect spot to unwind and explore the beauty of Vermont. And after a day of hiking and kayaking, there's a huge stone fireplace for cozy evenings. The cabin in large, clean, and well-equipped. Stephan is very responsive to any questions you have.
My sister and I and our families stayed for a weekend to attend a wedding. The house is indeed a log cabin and fits well within its setting and we got the feeling that we were "away from it all" and could relax and enjoy it. It was well stocked so we didn't have to worry about matches or kindling for the fire, or whether there was sugar for your coffee or tea. The fridge had basic condiments and the kitchen had all the utensils you could ever need. The house was clean and well kept making for an enjoyable weekend. It is on a dirt road (not unusual in Vermont) set back and secluded but close enough to the main drag and town of Rochester. We had a very nice country walk along the road one morning. A comfortable house that is great for a family getaway and Stephan was very responsive and accommodating.
We just loved this from the get go. The home is cozy inviting, and provides you with everything you need! We did day trips, ended each day with a swim in a beautiful swimming hole, river pull off. Every night had dinner, worked on puzzles, read, and RELAXED! Did NOT miss the fact that there was no tv. Spent each morning having coffee on the deck. One of our favorite vacations!
Sugarbush & Mad River Glen only 14 miles away.
