NEWER Muskegon Lakefront Home, Open Concept, Cool A/C , 2 Full BA, PONTOON BOAT

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,536 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, sleeps 10, 5 Queen Beds, Sandy Bottom All Sports Lake

Built new in 2000, this is a home that feels like your home is at the lake. PONTOON BOAT and kayaks are INCLUDED IN PRIME SUMMER WEEKLY RATES FROM 06/23/18-08/25/18 and available other weeks at a cost of $475 per week. NO CLEANING FEES DURING SUMMER WEEKS, EXTRA TAXES OR SECURITY DEPOSIT TO ARGUE OVER AFTER YOUR VACATION. 1536 square feet of living area, all above grade (the true way to measure square footage) so no scary or musty basement to send the young kids to sleep in. There is 60 feet of private frontage with pine trees on one side for additional privacy, no steep hills to navigate to the water and no homes across the paved road . An open concept main floor plan with 9 foot ceilings on Sandy Bottom All Sports Twin Lake. Home has Central air, a row boat and is only 10 minutes to downtown Muskegon, very popular Michigan Adventure Amusement Park and 30 minutes to the Port City Princess, Lake Michigan beaches and dozens of public golf courses. An open floor plan, Comcast cable and WIFI included, hardwood floors, central air and five ceiling fans will make a cool vacation. Very kid friendly with a deck and large windows to allow adults to keep an eye on the young ones . The Lake has bass and pan fish. 5 quality queen beds (no sleeper sofas or air mattresses for the kids to sleep on) and a fire pit (a temporary fire pit may be used in Spring if high water is present) plus NO EXTRA CHARGES for Cleaning Between Visitors. We are on the quiet side of the lake only about 170 yards to an island perfect to play on. We average 60% repeat renters each year and lots of good comments. We have a Weber grill and we are only a short walk to a public park. A great place to build family memories. THERE IS A $50 FEE FOR CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS ONLY. NO FEES FOR CHECKS OR ECHECKS.

This cottage built in 2000 with optional 19 foot pontoon boat (included in prime summer weeks) at a reasonable weekly rate is sure to make a memorable vacation. Every year we have very good comments that it is clean upon arrival and how nice it is. Horse shoes and a fire pit are other features we failed to mention. Muskegon, with its proximity to Lake Michigan, is not as hot as many areas of West Michigan. 4 of the 5 beds were bought new in 2005 or after. The main floor was repainted in 2017 and a nice propane Weber grill assures you great cookouts. Unlike some owners our weekly price has no taxes and we pay for the housekeeper between visitors.

About Mr and Mrs. T.

Why are we anonymous when others on Homeaway are not? Unfortunately our society has increased identity theft and more properties are being phished. We obviously never want two parties to show up for the same week, one legitimately booked and the other scammed into believing we rented to them also. We strongly feel this anonymity decreases the odds of that happening. We are from the Muskegon area so able to respond quickly should any problems arrive.

Mr and Mrs. T. purchased this house in 1999

Why Mr and Mrs. T. chose Twin Lake

Back in the late 1990's, my wife and I looked for a place in the Twin Lake area on the water yet all we found were old homes that needed a lot of TLC. When an opportunity came to build what we wanted on a great lot away from all the boat traffic, we did not hesitate. While we call it the Cottage (Established in 2000) , it is a year round home that is well insulated which assures along with central air that you don't cook from the heat. There are so many advantages of our 112 acre over the bigger lakes. Water temperatures are warmer than the bigger lakes like Lake Michigan, there are no riptides like Lake Michigan and fishing is available on our dock which is located maybe 50 feet from our deck. Other lakes like Muskegon Lake and Mona Lake for the most part, are not ideal swimming lakes for young ones.

What makes this house unique

A good open concept main floor, 9 foot ceilings, the main bedroom away from the second story bedrooms where the kids sleep, no steep hills to climb and the ability to watch the young ones right from inside the home add to the appeal of our place. Our motto is to give renters what we would want in a rental, good beds, good linens, modern appliances and a clean place to arrive to while incorporating features such as central air, and a good internet and cable package. One of the drawbacks of many inland lakes is Personal Watercraft and Boat traffic zipping by. The island that is maybe 180 yards away shields you from this as all the fast boats go by the other side of the lake. A boat launch is located a few blocks away if you want to launch and leave at our dock for the week (We don't recommend boats over 18 feet or extremely deep V boats).

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for everything. It was all we hoped for and more. It was clean upon arrival. We caught several bass.

Great week at the lake

The property was well maintained and had everything you could need. The lake was perfect for the kids and there are a lot of great activities in the area.

Lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

This Lake house accomadated 8 of us aged 1 to 77 very nicely. It had everything we needed. The children loved playing in the sand and water. We all enjoyed fishing off the dock. My husband caught a nice size bass. We also enjoyed bonfires at night. Nice getaway!

Very relaxing & wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed our week at this lakeside home. Besides the wonderful weather, the clean house, all the amenities that come with the house (washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc)we ALL LOVED it! We were greeted the first night by a bald eagle, that we could watch catch it's dinner. We looked forward every day to looking for turtles, ducks & trying to catch fish. Thank you again for the wonderful time, we look forward to seeing you next year!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed our place. Contact us on October 1 when we start taking reservations for 2017. In the past we have also seen blue herons and we have a photo of one perched on our pontoon canopy.

Great Vacation House

  • 5 of 5

We are originally from Michigan and rented this house to spend time with our Michigan family. The house was very clean and comfortable. The water was very warm, and our granddaughter spent hours in the lake every day. Our family enjoyed the lake: fishing, kayaking, riding the paddle boat and pontoon boat, and playing in the water. The house was large enough to not only sleep most of our family, but to entertain those who couldn't come for the night as well. It was also close to shopping and the Christian Music Festival in Muskegon. We plan to come back, hopefully soon!

Very nice home and location!

  • 4 of 5

Very nice home and location. Certain items in home are better than displayed in pictures (living room, laundry room, and pontoon). Other items such as the beach area could use some work to match the pictures on the site. Home is clean and neighbors are very friendly! The only bummer for us was not having wifi/tv for a day due to Comcast issues and being notified early in the week that we couldn't swim in the lake for 2 days of our vacation due to treatment for swimmer's itch. Comcast issue was clearly unavoidable - unclear if the lake treatment for swimmers itch was something pre-scheduled and not communicated to us or was something scheduled by DNR w/o any notification. Overall, a good experience..

Owner's Response: We appreciate your review. Most inland lakes are sprayed for swimmer itch and weeds to make swimming and boating a better experience and in 16 years we have never found this to be an issue with other renters. At the beginning of the year we are given estimated times for the spraying to occur yet never exact dates. We have also noticed that many people (including our own kids who we had bathe after ) have still swam on days of these postings and have never heard of any ill effects from doing so. You are correct in that certain items were better than displayed yet forgot to mention the following updates since our photos: kitchen table, tables and swing on deck, steps leading off the deck, pedal boat, TV, blinds and curtains, and the washer, dryer and refrigerator so we thought those items may be pertinent for others who read our only less than 5 star review. We just posted updated photos of the exterior as our intent is always to paint a true picture and since this beach photo we have improved the beach area. We have also had countless compliments of what a nice surprise it was to have so many items nicer than the photos. We also recently have updated the bath room flooring although nobody seemed unhappy with what was in there before. Obviously, we have no control over our Comcast Triple Play going out for a day yet we apologize for that.

Car: recommended

Twin Lake is an inland all sports lake with excellent swimming, fishing and its own private island less than 200 yards away. Michigan Adventure, Which seems to expand every year, is only ten minutes away and you will want to spend a day either going to the pristine Lake Michigan beaches or watching a Lake Michigan sunset on the Port City Princess.
