Why Lilian Panich chose York

If you are in York on business you can book an apartment with a big queen-sized bed, and relax in style after a taxing day. Lovely apartment near to York
Would recommend staying here if you intend to visit York. It had everything that we needed for our 3 night stay. Lilian was there to meet us and show us around the property and provide us with a map and details of the area and York. There were lots of leaflets and information for us to browse through. The apartment comprises of a large lounge with two settees and a dining table and television. The bedroom has a large bed and sofa bed with cupboards and an easy chair. The kitchen comprised of everything you needed, including dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, microwave, four ring oven and cooker, fridge, freezer, plenty of cupboard space with plenty of pans and cooking utensils. In fact there was nothing more we could have needed. Even the bathroom, had soap and shampoo, towels, toilet rolls and had a bath and shower, although the shower was difficult to adjust the temperature, so I ended up having a bath. Also a nice thought was a welcome pack of bread, eggs, butter, milk and jams, so we needn't do any shopping when we arrived. The coffee machine was also very useful, loved the coffee. It was about a mile to walk into the centre of York approx. 20 minutes, but there were a lot of pubs and restaurants along the way into the centre, so you didn't need to walk into York to have something to eat or drink. We had apartment 1, which overlooked the bowling greens, so it was a nice view, as well. It is all very clean and we had a lovely stay. We are very likely to stay again in the future, if we are up that way.
Thank you Pat, it was a pleasure to have you staying here.
York is one of England's most historic and beautiful cities and is located towards the north eastern region of England, in the heart of the white rose county of Yorkshire (which is very nearly another country in itself!). The City of York has over 2000 years of recordable and fascinating history to explore within, and around and about its iconic architecture, and right across its beautiful countryside. Criss-crossed by a variety of peoples through the ages; from the militant early-Briton federated Celtic Brigantes tribes to the Romans, Angles, Jutes, Wends and Saxons, and on to the Vikings and the Normans; and then more laterly culturally with the Georgians and the Victorians. As such, all these people have left their own deep and lasting imprint on the walled 'capital' city of t'North that more recently time, with the exception of the Victorian development of the railways, had often seemed to pass it by. One of the first must-see places to visit is of course York Minster... Which dominates York's skyline. Comprised of 16,000 tonne's of hand-hewed and hand-crafted Tadcaster town's magnesian limestone, the 14th Century Minster is one of the largest and most magnificent Gothic Cathedrals in Europe. It was a gobsmacking wonder in the 14th century, and remains so to this day. York in the 21st Century is a relatively small, yet lively city, full of contemporary shops and restaurants, and it buzzes with award-winning visitor attractions. If you haven't visited York before then what are you waiting for? Local to Poplar House can be found good traditional Brtish Real Ale Pub's (notably The Swan and The Slip Inn), as well as an award-winning Quality Butcher (M & K Butcher's), two fine Grocer's, a superb Delicatessen (The Good Food Shop), a decent Baker (Thomas the Baker), 2 mini-Sainbury's, the highly-popular and family-themed bijou café (The Pig and Pastry), a traditional Yorkshire fish and chips shop (The Fisherman's Wife), a Reel cinema, the newly-opened and very swish Trinacria Café and Bar, along a wide variety of good British and ethnic restaurant's, and not least the well respected Hotel Du Vin bar and bistro. Besides all of these establishment's there is a host of other excellent local shops, amenities, and choice venues - such as the nationally celebrated Barbican Theatre and Venue Centre. All of these top-range facilities are within a few minutes walking distance of Poplar House.
