A beautiful spot
The location has many benefits: it has the most astounding views; privacy and solitude; the joy of a truly dark sky full of stars. A great place to simply chill and relax, we loved it for that. The house itself has everything you need and the plunge pool is a fantastic resource for hot days. I lost count of the hours I spent simply drinking in the views, or floating in the pool, eyes closed, enjoying the sounds of nature. The location did have one drawback for us and that was the drive up to and down from it to the main roads. Plenty of people will find it thrilling but we found it an ordeal. We would suggest that visitors invest in a 4x4 to ease the drive, although plenty of people obviously manage without. Our host Lena has no issues with driving her saloon car up to the house for example. We’d also suggest people ensure they do the drive the first time in daylight. Lena was lovely and very helpful, leading us up to the property and showing us around, giving information about the area etc, she couldn’t have been nicer. All in all a great place to stay, if a little difficult to get to.
Absolutely loved our stay in the wonderful cabin, determined to come back soon!
Lena was so helpful and friendly showing us to the cabin, and rightly told us to buy in supplies as it's remote location puts it away from shops - just what we wanted. The views are stunning and we often caught a glimpse of Morocco in the foreground of beautiful sunsets. The house is beautiful and built by themselves which made it extra special. We got well acquainted with the neighbours dog who was so friendly and will miss her too! The property is remote, but we manage just fine even without a car, and got very fit walking to Competa or down to the beach!
We can't recommend this enough, having walked away with lovely sun tans in the midst of February. Will miss picking orange and lemons to make our home made lemonade and sangria! So sad to leave the cabin, but we'll be back soon!
Peaceful, welcoming, well equiped and beautiful wooden house
We stayed in the house in the last week in May and were very lucky with the beautiful weather. The house is a peaceful, well equiped wooden house in a stunning landscape. The deck outside is wonderful for eating on, for reading and for watching the locals as they go about their work in the fields. We spent nearly the whole week in the house only going out twice for shopping - the place was so relaxing. We particularly loved the garden, the deck, the reading room and the plunge pool. The views from the house are of the sea, the local valley and the high mountains and are stunning.
Lena was a welcoming and generous host who brought us to the house and provided basic food as we arrived on a Sunday with no shops open. She filled us in on the history of the house, what to do in the area and made us feel we had really arrived after only 10 minutes chatting.
This was a lovely house and we came away relaxed after just a week.
Great lodge, great location, great weeks holiday..
After reading the reviews I thought our holiday would be good anyway but after seeing the place and the location and the views we were amazed how lovely the lodge and surroundings were. We had a great week and weather was great, the lodge is like a sun trap all day. The pool and BBQ made for a lovely mealtime and the balcony overlooking the mountains was an awesome view as the sun set. We have already booked for next year for two weeks we enjoyed our time so much. We visited the beach which is literally 15min drive and is superb. With supermarket close by its holiday you could spend just in and around the lodge. Thank you to Lena who was always available and made us feel very welcome, we look forward to seeing her again next summer for two weeks next time.
We all loved it! ....Christmas dinner in the sun, fab views, 4 miles into the hills it was so peaceful and relaxing. We were a group of 8 including my son and two teenages who enjoyes the wifi. Lena and Richard and family are all fantastic and helpful, our son loved you! as you know! We are planning our next trip already. Thanks Lena. See you soon. From the all of us here in rainy Wales :)
What a wonderful holiday we had in Lena & Richard's cabin! Lena met us at the nearby town and we followed her which was ideal as it would be tricky to find on your own! Well worth the drive up the mountains. A perfect location for a quiet and relaxing break, the only visitors were the eagles, cute lizards and bats! Beautiful breathtaking views that we never tired of. The cabin had everything we needed :-) How lovely to be able to walk out of the bedroom onto the rear decking then into the pool. The enormous decking at the front of the cabin was our outside living room, shade from the hottest part of the day from the gazebo was essential. We had some lovely evening walks from the cabin, so much to see and perfect for nature & wildlife lovers. So many memories.
